2016-2017 NCAA football thread
The Sir replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 22, 2016 -> 08:45 PM) Refs missed big PI so OSU loses. Wellness check for Rock. I saw at least two instances of PI by OSU's D that went uncalled. Deal with it. -
Leadoff man on second with nobody out, and the Ms' big three fail to keep their season alive. Cruz was unlucky, but on a soft nubber, Cano barely even made it to first. What gives?
-
Can Anderson get a double???
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 07:26 PM) Don't be surprised if Tim is hit with a pitch in his next AB. Pat Dean certainly tried.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) That's all for Duffey. Nana Nana hey hey hey etc. Oh, you're a bit behind? Wait for Narvaez...
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 07:21 PM) Timmy crushes one to LF to score Eaton and himself to make it 4-0 . I have schoolwork to do, but this is the most fun I've had with White Sox baseball in months. Wish more were here.
-
I don't care that this game is meaningless. I hate the Twins and I will rewatch Anderson's mega self-spectating for YEARS.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 05:51 PM) Rodon with seven straight k's to start the game before a double. Tied an AL record That AL record was a White Sox record too, set by Joe Cowley while my existence was still confined to a Fallopian tube...

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 06:40 AM) Whoa. He was gonna win multiple Cy Youngs. Whoa. Terribly sad. RIP. Not that it matters, but I hope he wins the CY this year. Numbers wise, he was probably behind Bumgarner and Scherzer (at least), but I hope the voters honor him instead.
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) Are you also discounting every other player's best 18-game stretch? Why shouldn't it count? I don't think he's going to replicate this hot streak. And if we start him because of this hot streak, and he reverts back to his typical level, it'll be a small but meaningful contribution to the fact that you and I will be watching more s*** baseball next year.
-
Saladino has had an 18 game hot streak (OPS of .935 in that span). Before that, he was at a .674 OPS. That puts him dead last among qualified MLB 2Bs. Now at .738, there are only five MLB two-baggers below him (Phillips, Gennett, Panik, Utley and Harrison). Let's not act like Saladino is some proven hitter who can only be prevented from starting at second next year by the acquisition of Moncada or better. He's had a nice 18 games, but he's been BAD for most of his career. If regular Tyler (as in the player we've seen for 88% of his career) shows up and he's a starter, we are going to sink hard.
-
QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:34 PM) So that means he's been very valuable the last 18 games, and having a decent season for middle infielder standard, what's your gripe? You have a personal vendetta against him, get over it. He sucked for 73 games and has been hot for 18. Isn't that roughly how Avi Garcia operates? And look, a .674 OPS is textbook sucking. Out of all qualified second basemen in MLB, that would put him dead last by .025. Out of all SSs, which Sal can't really play, that OPS only puts five below him. When you account for his recently improved OPS, .730, four MLB 2B are below him, and 7 shortstops are. He sucks. We will continue to suck as long we continue to accept players of his caliber, not to mention promoting them into starting jobs.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) I'd rather get rid of the people responsible for the s***ty players. That wont happen anytime soon. I'm sure we could score more of them by trading away Sale or Q. People think we have quality scouting, development and luck like the Cubs. And if we can't fire Hahn and KW, which you suggest we won't, do you want us to just sit on our hands?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) I think Tyler is a starter. He's not a s***ty player. He's 3-for-4 tonight for gawd sakes and hitting about .290. He has pop in his bat. People thought Semien sucked too. The man has 25 home runs!!!! Can you say fire Hahn for trading Semien!! Semien doesn't even get on base 30% of the time. That's what we need! Saladino's OPS was .674 until he had this good 18 game stretch. It's a fluke, just like he had at the beginning of his career.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:12 PM) That's a bit of an overreaction. He's a utility guy. Meh. I want to get rid of s***ty players so that our team can win. I don't like that we accept mediocrities like Tyler. I get that we have other holes to fill, but that doesn't mean we should approve of junk. And we definitely shouldn't let him start every day.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:10 PM) The game would've been entirely different had Saladino made a good throw and gotten out of the inning. No. We need to spend September trying out our garbage heap of useless middle infielders who were awesome White Sox prospects but never would have been noticed in a decent farm system. Like Carlos Sanchez here.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:01 PM) There is nothing more entertaining than when people show up to troll people based on a bad play or streak. Tyler has a .672 career OPS. If it wasn't for his last 17 games, he'd be right above that mark this year too. The dude is f***ing garbage, but hey, let's start him over Brett Lawrie next year. It's cool- we're getting used to the cellar.
-
Unbelievable. No win 16, no under three ERA, nothing. f*** you, Saladino.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 06:50 PM) Tyler's defense not very good overall. Whoa. You dare not hate on that mediocrity with his .672 career OPS. He's beyond reproach 'round these parts, dontcha know.
-
I f***ing hate Tyler Saladino. It's too bad he's gone on a fluke hot streak which will secure his spot on the 2017 team.
-
Only 188 more games of Todd Frazier, I pray.

Ugh. Sanchez. Can't believe he used to be an exciting prospect. -

I made the thread already. Didn't you lose last night? -
Because I don't see one. No Timmy, no Kevan, Sanchez still playing...why am I here again?

August 28th Game Thread: White Sox vs. Mariners
The Sir replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Avi sucks. I can't believe Stone was talking about him during the pregame as if he could ever have some value. DFA him.
