  1. With the exception of the exact order, seems like this top 5 was a relative given. This is where it gets crazy and hopefully someone falls. One of Smith, White, Haseley, Hiura, Kendall or Adell will be there. Although skeptical on the last two. Hopefully Bukauskas or Faedo or Rodgers get picked in the next five.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) Fine, her college professor. Better? For f***s sakes. And now we are equating this kid to a serial killer. I'm not going to even bother. You obviously missed my point. You scorn DA for suggesting he's accountable for his behavior no matter what happened in his own childhood, and I'm telling you that all sorts of people who do s***ty things were themselves subject to terrible s***, and it never matters. Luke Heimlich did something much worse than I've ever done in my life, and he did it repeatedly for two years. He might be a free man, but he's also a very troubled one, and he should not be afforded the chance to play in MLB. If you find that too judgmental on my part, so be it.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) You only choose to read what you want to read, DA. Be as judgemental of people you don't know as you'd like. In 10 years, when this poor girl goes and stabs her male teacher in high school, you can then rush in and judge her too, because people should be "responsible for their actions," and not receive any consideration of some "BS excuse." 10 years from now, she'll be 21, so I don't think she'll be stabbing any of her current high school teachers. But if she does something atrocious down the road, yes, she should be held to account. Seriously, try finding a serial killer or other hardcore degenerate who didn't have a f***ed up childhood. None of those tragedies form serious arguments for clemency from their later acts.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) It'd be a good pick. This draft should really show how important it is for us to be drafting top 3 in 2018 / 2019 compared to the double digits. Look at what concecutive high first round hits did for Huston and the Nationals. Do we think a top 3 pick in 2019 is likely, or even desirable? I think we've got to be better than that with Moncada/Fulmer/Giolito/Lopez contributing at MLB in 2018. Not contending yet, but if we totally suck, I think that's a bad turn for some of our first tier...
  5. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) Adjusted for accuracy Where did you hear this? I found articles clearly describing the event on a 6 year old as a 15 year old, but have found nothing describing it as an ongoing thing. I could possibly dig up some mercy if it was a one-time thing at 15, but the situation you describe puts it in a whole other ballpark.
  6. Actually, better yet, if we shut them out from here, their loss will be on Edwin. He should have been on third to score on the PB if he wasn't acting like a friggin' idiot.
  7. Ha, I like the story about Todd listening to trade rumors from his buddies, and telling them if he actually paid attention to such things, he'd be batting about .100. Guess you have to establish new bars for shiftiness when you're Todd Frazier.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 31, 2017 -> 04:21 PM) Like him or not, Hawk is a White Sox legend and that's coming from someone that has not listened to Hawk in a long time. I've enjoyed many beers through the years watching the Sox and listening to Hawk. We're gonna miss him when he's gone. This. Hawk has been the voice of Sox games since I was a kid. For me, Hawk is like a guy in a bar discussing the game. He's loud, he's emotional, he's definitely partisan. He tells some interesting stories, some dumb ones, but whatever, you ignore him half the time anyway. People complain that he gets silent when things are going bad, but what would any fan do? I'll tell ya, when we're down by seven and the umps appear to be employed by the other team, STFU. Last thing I want then is to listen to Jason Benetti tell stupid jokes.
  9. Great. By 2019, we get to listen to Benetti's boring ass full-time.
  10. QUOTE (turnin' two @ May 31, 2017 -> 09:52 AM) In what world is .306/.380/.570 for an OPS of .950 not succeeding? Look at other top picks. Their college numbers are cartoon-like. Also, the 25% k-rate somewhat says "not succeeding".
  11. 1-2-3...is this the point where I join my wife in the other room to watch Young Victoria? Hmmph. Thanks, Jose and Dan.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) Cue Eddie Butler shutout coming... Have to credit Maddon to sticking with Schwarber at the top of the order...assuming it eventually pans out. The White Sox never were able to show that kind of patience with their young hitters, but having won the WS last year really takes at least 50% of the pressure they would be under this year had they lost to the Indians. I pay very little attention to individual personalities online, but DA's Abu Dhabi joke is starting to make lots of sense.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 30, 2017 -> 06:13 PM) And the worst part is if team's didn't think Quintana was a TOR starter before, he's going to have a hell of a time convincing GMs & scouts he is one now after that disaster of a season. Well, would you sacrifice your farm system and risk your personal livelihood on "he's got a nice fWAR"? Chris Sale might be a nut job with all the mental toughness of a college student, but when he is on, he is on. No one better. Quintana was above average but never that. We expected too much, and now we will get even less.
  14. Crazy, but they should walk Abreu to face Frazier. Inning over.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2017 -> 05:55 PM) We have no idea what they offered. All indications are the packages sucked I recall the rumor that we were offered something with Tucker and Martes, and we wanted Musgrove included. WTF. Also, at this point, I just want Sale to K as many people as possible. I mean Woods-Ian. Throwing way too many pitches though.
  16. There's the risk in having kept Q. Either he would get injured or he would suck. He sucks, and now we're stuck with him. I'm glad we turned down the package built around the 20 year old with a .900+ OPS at high-A, just because it didn't include Joe Musgrove. Put that on your resume, Rick.
  17. Well this game lost its intrigue pretty quick. Adios, everybody.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 28, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) That foul ball scared the s*** out of me. I got very briefly freaked out by the Iglesias groundout.
  19. Maybe a genie told Rick that a 450' homerun to dead centerfield would be called foul, so he didn't want to waste his challenge.
