  1. Narcos and The Crown are both worth watching in their entirety.
  2. I don't think I'm going to astonish anyone here, but I watched the first episode of CBS' Training Day series the other night, and it was absolute s***. Like, one of the worst things I've ever seen. Not sure how Bill Paxton came to be so desperate.
  3. Boothbay Harbor was a lovely day trip. Especially if you like good sea food. Passed through Bath on the way there in summer 2015. That was cool too, since you could see one of the Navy's new destroyers (Zumwalt class) nearing completion.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 07:56 PM) Benintendi or Torres #1? Benintendi. Torres at 3.
  5. Guessing Benintendi is #1. Still wish we had acquired him.
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 09:39 AM) Since Reed has never caught before, I'm going to go ahead and say no. Don't know why I got it in my head that he was a borderline catcher, defensively. I'm not big on Reed, but that annihilates any interest in him at all. I'll take him as a third piece if we get Martes and Tucker. I'd want Laureano in that package too.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 5, 2017 -> 08:47 AM) OF Kyle Tucker, RHP Francis Martes, 1B AJ Reed, and OF Ramon Laureano is a nice package from Houston. That's a deal I'd probably make. That probably hasn't been offered though. Not at all interested in Reed, but anything that starts with Tucker and Martes is automatic for me. Get it done.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) Question to fill the time: Who would you guys rather have, Blake Rutherford or Kyle Tucker? Tucker. Not close.
  9. .310 BA, .330 OBP, .471 SLG, 17 HRs, 37 2Bs, 8 3Bs, 103 runs, 23 SBs. Yep. I came in here to be the party pooper and put up some turd of a slash line, and instead I turned him into a borderline superstar. With defense like last year, what's this, 6 WAR or so? Well, optimism's kinda fun.
  10. Agreeing with the comment that it depends on the package, I'll just pop in to rank my headliners: Rodgers Tucker Torres Frazier Meadows Glasnow Bregman isn't happening, not super high on Meadows, and don't want this package built around a pitcher. I really want a Rodgers/Tapia/Pint deal (no Dahl, who has meh numbers at normal altitudes). If that fails, get Tucker/Martes/whatever from Houston and I'll be ecstatic (no Reed, please). I'll be indifferent about Yankees prospects (but spare me Judge or Mateo as anything but a throw-in). If we trade with the Pirates and lead with Meadows but don't get at least Newman and Keller to finish it off, I'll cry.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 12:21 AM) But we could make the same argument/s about Latos and Rollins, even though Anderson put up better numbers. Easier to blame it on the infamous Rangers disaster on May 6th. May 10th. I know, because I was there and it was my birthday present. There was a long rain delay, they came back, Avi cleared the bases with a double to put us up 10-5. It was late and our 1 y/o needed to get to bed, and I figured it was over, so I agreed with my wife that we could leave. Our season ended a few minutes after we walked in our front door.
  12. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Not sure if it was posted but baseball tonight suggested a trade: Houston gets: Q Sox get: Martes, Reed, Daz Cameron They went around the table and said who says no and everyone agreed it's was a perfect trade. I know everyone wants Tucker but would you be okay with this? They said Martes is the best prospect so we would get another top prospect plus Reed and Cameron (who's Mike Cameron's son). Daz Cameron has been terrible in the low minors. Reed was terrible in his MLB stint, with a 33% K rate. I'd sooner trade Q for Martes and Tucker alone, rather than expand quantity with those other two.
  13. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏ The #WhiteSox will get Lucas Giolito and two other minor-league pitchers from the #Nats once the #WhiteSox approve the medicals for Eaton Pitchers. Great. f*** you, Hahn.
  14. Why do people like Robles exactly? From looking at stats, he seems to be several years away and generally has the same skill set as Adam Eaton. No idea about defense. What is the point of this?
  15. OK, I'm going to pick up the kid and go home. That'll be an hour or so. I want news when I come back on...
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) Still don't see the logic when a Gomez or Tilson can hold the spot before a natural CFer like Basabe takes over in 2019. Maybe we get Robles, too? We left Anderson at SS instead of moving him to CF and that worked out fine. Let him find one comfortable position on the infield before we end up moving him to yet another position. Plus watching him and Anderson together will be a scout's dream, barring any injuries. About the best argument is protecting him from injuries (in the middle of the diamond), and we've seen our share in the outfield (Jared Mitchell, Schwarber, Avi, Tilson, Rowand, etc.) as well. I get the nuance of saying "like Basabe", but that particular dude hit .258 in A ball. I would say " like Tilson" long before I'd say "like Basabe".
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) FWIW I like Moncada more than Bregman and Turner and way more than Benintendi Turner hit .342 in significant big league action. Moncada was sixty points shy of that in the minors. I know BA is kinda lame, buy isn't that just too stark to ignore?
  18. Yeah I'm disappointed. Benintendi is way more interesting than Moncada, who strikes out at a horrific rate and whose MiLB OPS was about 75 points lower than Adam Eaton. Kopech is years away, Basabe strikes out a ton and hit .258 in the low minors, and this sucks so much I'm not even bothering to look up Diaz. Screw this front office. I have been a Sox fan since 1993, when I was 6. And this is bulls***.
  19. Man, it'd be nice if some of the people here actually tried to answer questions and didn't just make smart-ass remarks. When did I ever say Benintendi and Devers were nowhere near enough? I'd be thrilled with that return, and I always would have been. Piece #6 in a Chris Sale trade doesn't mean much to me. I care about the headliners and if those are solid, I'm going to be happy. And TaylorStSox, maybe I'm a little skeptical about the competence of a FO that once gave us Avisail Garcia as a centerpiece. But I appreciate your attempt a wise-ass remark nonetheless.
  20. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) The "quantity of quality" is where the White Sox would win. If Giolito and Robles are the headliners, there better be 4-6 others coming with them. A couple more quality, near-ready guys (Lopez, Fedde maybe?) and a few lottery tickets that have tools you like and you think you can develop (NO HITTERS WITH WEAK HIT TOOLS!), and this trade could be the feeder of the eventual competitor we're looking for on the South Side. This is a respectable explanation, but not sure I like it as a team strategy. This is Chris Sale. Give us a clear future superstar please. Maybe I'm dreaming but I'd rather get Benintendi and Devers alone rather than several middling types. Just my two cents.
  21. Ok, busy with grad school work and not a huge follower of prospects, but someone pull me back from the edge. Why are Robles (who had an OPS of .741 in his stint at A+) and Giolito (a guy with a 2.73 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in the minors) the leading prospects for the second best lefty in MLB? How the hell does that beat Benintendi, Bregman or Urias? Maybe I'm being too harsh. Those MiLB stats just seem underwhelming. And our history with prospects doesn't inspire me to think we'll develop them into something more.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) Are you kidding me? Well time to head to bed I guess. Oh hell no. I am staying up. I won't sleep tonight if it comes down to it.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 08:48 PM) So everyone on twitter is now retweeting this prediction of the world ending during a Cubs Indians extra inning World Series game 7. Check the date it was posted on. I'm not a Twitter guy- is that for real? That is unsettling...
