QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) *Cue the gif of the puppy trying to catch the ball.* The most realistic depiction of Avisail Garcia in the outfield. The day he's gone will be the happiest day for me...besides when Flowers went away

Man the defense in the OF is going to be embarrassing

POSTPONED: Opening Day Game Thread 2017
Baron replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2017 Season in Review
Another year of watching Garcia's fantastic defense in right field. I cant wait. -
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 04:51 PM) Dodgers could get involved during the season if they need rotation help? Mid to small market teams tend to cling to prospects more often that larger market clubs, but not always Sox hold the cards having Q under control for 4 more seasons The Pirates rely too heavily on their farm to have the stones to make a big trade for Q...but when it's June or July and your team is right in the the thick of contention, or if you have a starter get hurt then Quintana for 3 1/2 seasons on a reasonable contract appears very attractive Right I'm just counting the Pirates completely out. Plus they just cant give away prospects. It's just gonna take a team like the Dodgers or a team like that for a trade to actually happen. I'm not holding my breath. I still think he's here beyond next offseason.
-
I dont get it some times. Why dont you guys look at the teams involved? Lets highlight the Pirates and Astros. Do you guys think they operate the same as the Nationals or the Red Sox? Look at the history of Dombrowski and Rizzo. It was the perfect storm for Sale. We may never get there with Q unfortunately and it's up to the Sox then if they want to drop value/ keep him. I'd rather keep him past next offseason if he's still here. You have two teams trying to trade for Q who love their prospects. Maybe it'll change at the deadline. Beyond that the Astros can spend money. The Pirates are content with doing nothing.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) Let's not go overboard, I don't think Houston's rotation is horrid. If Charlie Morton is your #3 starter your going to have problems.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 04:29 PM) Except money can't buy them a pitcher until next off-season, and didn't buy them a good one this off season. What are you not getting? I understand that. I'm simply saying the clock at whatever value the Sox have is ticking. They cant play hard to get for the duration of his contract if they are indeed trying to trade him. Houston is obviously taking a risk with that horrid rotation. Look who the GM is though. It's obvious what he prefers to spend/trade and it's been that way for years.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) Its hard for me to imagine a time when it would be incredibly tough to trade a pitcher of Q's quality and his contract. Even if there are others available, hard to beat the contract with his kind of production. Money is money. Prospects are gold to some of these teams. Houston can spend money which it's obviously that they'd rather do.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) The odds of Tucker/Martes and company flopping are much higher than the odds of Q regressing. That's not what I'm referring to. I think I've made this clear for months it's about the market at some point. The market is going to screw his value.
-
It's a risk for both sides. Astros trying to stick to their plan and get throught he season with that rotation. White Sox trying to keep his value where it's at. It'll probably be incredibly tough to trade him next offseason.

Charlie Morton is the #3 starter...they'll be back

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 12:04 AM) there is no pressure in February, or March, or April...July? Sure. Of course, there is also pressure on contenders then too. Which is why I was talking about the trade deadline -

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Feb 12, 2017 -> 09:45 PM) LOL. GMs never posture! Look who the GM is and then reassess your comment. I actually agree with Bruce. I wouldnt be surprised if they waited until the deadline then screw it up. I dont see the offers getting any better plus your putting even more pressure on yourself to get rid of him before next offseason. -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) They have this really attractive woman who works there that does like Facebook live updates (so legit haha). She's a great snapchat follow. Total smokeshow. I'm pretty sure it's against forum policy to not provide a link in that case.

Sears wrong again. What a surprise.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) I just saw today's episode of MLB Network's show. I think it replays later. Nightengale was still saying that Jim Crane has 1 more move left in him and that he thinks Q or Gray is on Astros to start the season. So weird. I mean it sounds like Crane wants to make a move. But it all rests on Luhnow giving up the prospects. -
Seems like Crane was pretty open. He said they are going after Gray and Q.

FG projects Sox as having 3rd biggest fall off in defense
Baron replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just for reference Peter Bourjos was a +1 last year with CF/RF time with the Phillies. With the Cardinals he was a -4 in CF in 2015. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 09:41 PM) What was Avi's in 2015? -11 on fangraphs. Bill James had him at -14 I believe. -

Eaton had like +21 DRS in RF last year. So that's not surprising. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 03:46 PM) When's last time they did this? Nationals and Sale
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 03:39 PM) Doesnt a leak like this hurt them more than help since it was obvious that they made the s*** up to get another team to budge? I'd say yes

Yep Evan Grant shot it down.

Lunhow hugs all his prospects at night. Good luck with that.
