**2018 Opening Day Game Thread**
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 04:56 PM) Now imagine Eloy and Robert in this lineup. Eloy I can imagine. Who knows what this lineup will look like when Robert comes up. Alot of changes between then and now I would imagine.

Brewers nearing trade
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 06:00 PM) I call BS. The only Barstool guy I trust is Dave at this point. Carl’s Darvish “leak” was an epic failure. And why the f*** would the Brewers take on that salary exactly? They’d have to be getting Glaybar Torres back. I dont trust any of them.

Brewers Acquire Christian Yelich & sign Lorenzo Cain
Just curious...but has anybody gone through the defensive stats of the big 3 free agents at CF next year? I mean is the object to play horrible defense in the outfield? I mean I'm all for spending as much money as possible. But I think trading for someone now then adding in free agency next year would be the way to go. Maybe at the deadline this year fine. But I dont like holding off until the last possible second then rushing in with the rest of the teams for big time talent. That's what it seems to me like what Hahn is trying to avoid.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 05:05 PM) Every White Sox player that reached free agency and came back for less, had a far longer history with the team than one season, and they weren't in the position Machado is in where he is going to sign perhaps the second or third highest contract in the history of the game. To even think the White Sox can get a discount is foolish, certainly not worth all the cost of acquiring him now. Who is saying get him for a discount? Most on here are talking about drastically overpaying.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) Duquette isn't an idiot. He knows he could get a better prospect than Cease at the deadline. Also, for some reason I don't think Angelos would be a fan of Cease's medical history. I dont know. At that point your really squeezing the people that want him. Some of the teams with offers for him might not be available because those teams are no longer contending. Like the Diamondbacks or the Cards for example. Plus potentially us.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) Again, says who? It's why I think the Sox offer is far better than Cease as the main piece The offers shouldnt be expected to go to high because he has 1 year left. What does far better equate to? Lopez?

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) Supposedly ten offers have been made. I'm sure at least one team can offer better than a top 90-100 pitching prospect and a mid-level prospect. It doesnt seem like they have though

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
"Giolito, Cease/Hansen , Burger, and Bummer....I think this is a package that gives the Os something to sell the fans" http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/ind...o/&page=116 Thought this was amusing. That's a package he would get with 5 years on his deal.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) The most I would offer for Machado is Cease and Adams. Honestly I think that would be more than enough to get it done.

Dodgers trade Adrian Gonzalez, BMac, Kazmir, Culberson
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) They just need to trade for the free agents they want to sign, show them the culture, and they are hooked. Your right. That definitely wont work. Hell it's not even worth exploring. Good call.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Well then for all the hopeful people who automatically write him into their 2019 dream lineup, I guess they have no hope either then. Some people on here want them to be bad until their lives are over.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) Bob NightengaleVerified account @BNightengale 3h3 hours ago The #Orioles would love to trade Manny Machado within next 24 to 36 hours, team execs say, but could take longer process to assure there is no back channel to the Bronx. All teams making offers are under premise that it could be one-and-done deal. He said at the end that's why the Cards havent made a formal offer yet. This is just plain stupid management by Baltimore.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) So keeping your prospects and offering him the most cash next offseason is something that won't work? Machado without doubt, knows a lot of players who either play with the White Sox or have played for the White Sox. He will have an idea about "the culture" if he doesn't play in Chicago in 2018, and the White Sox try to sign him. I dont think they offer him the most cash.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) I have no idea how you’ve jumped to that conclusion. This is all about gaining an edge against the all other teams who also plan on leveraging the “outbid everyone” strategy. IMO, the Sox wouldn’t even entertain the idea of acquiring him if they weren’t prepared to go all-in in free agency for him. Right. This is the only logical choice right now if you actually want to acquire him. Acquire him and make his experience a pleasant one. Then shell out a competitive offer in free agency and hope that all the work you put in previously did the job. That's the way it needs to be done.
