  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) Is anyone wanting them to lose yet on here? Haven't seen that yet. Doesn't mean many on here don't think they can compete with the top AL teams the rest of the way and selling should be a legit option in two weeks. Did you not see the game thread yesterday? Or did you just gloss over the " Sell!!!" posts?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) He's the last person we want seeing make mistakes He helps the losing effort so it's all good right?
  3. There Tim is making mistakes. Mistakes and losing = "happy" people on here
  4. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:48 PM) Why, they were shifted to where the 3B was playing closer to short He's slower than hell and I think we've learned this year. Bunting with this offense = probably not a good idea
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Trying bro get on base Even if he bunted he's getting thrown out
  6. I mean if Austin Jackson is going to be out for more time they need to trade for somebody.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) I still cannot grasp why garcia is the dh over saladino. He should be in AAA
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 10:11 PM) If Abreu has good trade value, we should drive him to the airport. Oh christ. Spread your misery somewhere else please. Plenty of other teams will be tanking and rebuilding for a long time.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) I'd rather watch a 60 win team with potential than this. Good for you. Go watch the Braves. See how great their fortune is. They were supposed to be competing next year. The Rockies have been in perpetual rebuild mode for years.
  10. Get rid of Q,Sale and Abreu...Let's suck for 20 years so we can complain about how bad the team is 24/7! It'll be great!
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) If the Sox tank these next 2 weeks, do you think they put Quintana on the market? I bet we could get a haul from the Rangers or Red Sox. Stop it
  12. I mean realistically... Shuck and Garcia shouldnt be starting. You replace Shuck out there with a capable OFer and this lineup looks quite a bit better.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) They will continue to make up reasons to play him instead of closing the book on his horrible Sox career It looks bad for Hahn if he gets sent down. He's the ultimate "If only" player.
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Very good defender, but unless there's something seriously wrong with Shuck's defense, I don't see the point. Shuck has started to hit well now that he's been playing. Now he's not on another team and wasn't good 3 years ago, so Hahn is likely unimpressed. But instead of hunting for a CF, they might hold sway and see how Morneau does. Because right now, DH is a far bigger deficit. Shuck is -5 in DRS. Peter Bourjos is -2 Melvin Upton is +11 3 run difference is important. But the +11 is a bigger swing. Shuck is still a negative player because of his defense and that's probably the way it's going to remain. Right now we're giving up 13 runs in the OF from 2 players. They need to minimize the bad players in the OF to 1.
  15. Any opinions on Melvin Upton or my previous posts? I still think he's going to be the most realistic target. I'm curious though as to how much salary we can take on.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 11:38 PM) What does the supply of starting CF's look like? Exactly. The values of each are not equal. To get a cost controlled starter(even one with huge question marks like the Sox just got) is going to cost more than an OFer. Plus the names that we are talking about in here besides Blackmon are not going to command that type of package.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) If the Pomeranz trade is any indication of where the trade market is at, I am good with standing pat. That's for starters...is this really any surprise? I really hate when people say that crap every single year. " If this is how the trade market is...". Well guess what? Demand is high and supply is low on starting pitching. The Miller trade for example should be a good indicator. You gotta trade prospects to get good players. Breaking news.
  18. To me this is how I see it Top option: Blackmon- As Balta is referring to it'll probably take Fulmer. Cheap option: Atleast in terms of prospects is going to be Melvin Upton. Padres will eat his salary and he's signed through next year as well. I cant believe i'm advocating for him right now but this is my favorite option. He's playing very good baseball right now.
  19. I'll rain on the Shuck parade. So far he's worth about 5 runs surrendered right now. That's bad. Realistically you want most of your OFers at or close to 0. But right now we have 2 guys giving up about 13 runs playing in the OF.
  20. I think the Padres is a good team to start with. You already know they'll eat cash and we wont have to give up many prospects. See how much cash they'll eat in Upton's contract for this year and next year. Allen it's possible he tanks. But I think he would be tanking in that park on both sides of the ball. He's doing quite well right now. Also there's the possibility Jon Jay is healthy before the deadline.
