Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
Well Rick Hahn would just give us some lip service on not paying attention to what they are doing

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) Thats because holiday and adams were out with injuries and molina was trying to play with a tirn ucl in his thumb. Holiday and Matt Adams(especially) were not having that great of years on offense anyway.

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:53 PM) He said this in the Sox article "Chicago still has a sufficient amount of payroll dollars to add a free agent or another veteran through trade." Apparently I need to stop sniffing glue in the morning

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
Interestingly enough after reading our good old friend Bruce Levines Twitter about the Cubs money. He wrote this morning that we(White Sox) have ZERO dollars for trades and free agents. Amusing because that's clearly not the case.

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) Didn't he hit only 1? Carpenter has way more power than him, and I would say Piscotty looks to have as well. Yes he only hit 1 HR

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:42 PM) There's nothing wrong with being jealous of what the Cubs are building. We all want to win too. That's the correct thing to be jealous about.

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) Heyward with power? In the playoffs absolutely

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) Also had horrible luck with injuries. Well their depth was sad and their hitting was terrible. Heyward was the only power/reliable offensive player they had on the team entering the playoffs.

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:34 PM) They'll sign Alex Gordon now and a pitcher and still win 90 games. I dont think they want to win 90 games and then get kicked right out of the playoffs. They were incredibly weak entering the playoffs.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) It amazes me the value Soler seems to have around the league. He isn't much of an upgrade from Avi, and supposedly can't hit breaking pitches at all. Both Baez and Soler really shouldnt garner any interest in front of the line starter packages. But somehow they do.

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) And the only thing we've done is sign 2 catchers and Brett Lawrie. We're doomed. Next year is going to be so bad. We're all gonna die. Where did I say any of that? I was alluding to the 3 teams in the running for him as I said the previous day.

Cardinals really crapped the bed...they could not lose him.

Staying off Twitter for a little while This was worst case scenario

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
Sounds like he may be going to the Cubs

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
Those teams dont give a crap if he hits home runs. That's just an added bonus that he can(in the playoffs he showed some pop). Why do they like him besides his Elite defense?

Plans for rest of the Off Season
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) I would much rather go with Saladino over signing Desmond who has been trending downward for a few years. Funny thing though is his defense has remained consistent(positive play actually). So that's a little interesting.

Plans for rest of the Off Season
Ian Desmond is going to make way more money than that

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) Is this Scioscias last last last chance to get it right? I would imagine so. Great post Kalapse. Bill James in his handbook always raved about his runs saved capability. I think last year and the year before that he saved something like 23 runs.

Winter Meetings: Predictions
QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) and again i will say i didn't think that is all true. then again i do know nothing of advance metrics. btw, is that the only source that tell these things. I use them for their defense mostly. But Baseball Reference has those too. Or if you want to read more into it Bill James comes out with a book every year which updates defense starts. It gives you runs saved and interesting bullpen statistics.

Winter Meetings: Predictions
QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) really, i didn't think that was true. ... it is still was saying he played very good rf. I think Fangraphs had him as one of the worse defensive players in MLB last year...atleast that's what I can recall from that post about Zobrist yesterday

The LaRoche article dug up from 2015
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) Wow. He officially has no value left, and the Sox have given up on him. Hahn sounded pretty defeated when talking about him a few days ago.

Angels a finalist as well. Their division is wide open. They might as well go for it.

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) Watch them trade Baez and Soler for Ross or Carrasco Ross I think if they get Heyward makes sense

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Davis makes Cardinals better than if they keep Heyward in my opinion. They need power badly. Offensively yes. Defensively they lose quite a bit.

Sexism in the Media
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) Cubs beat writers. Just saw something from Julie Di-whatever the hell her last name is. She has an interesting reputation after the Kane saga. Always had good interactions with her. But that was a mess.
