So when can we start focusing on the 2012 Sox?
sunofgold replied to kitekrazy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am focusing on 2012 White Sox. I will do anything I can to help this team. Do the White Sox ever run focus groups? I would gladly give my honest opinion. However, I just read the Steve Jobs and Apple didn't believe in focus groups b/c they didn't believe that the consumer knew what they wanted. They believed and may still believe that they create the product(s) that consumer didn't even know that they wanted. lol! They just figure out what people want...without talking to them??? Hey, it has worked well for Apple. but the White Sox aren't Apple. lol! Don't they want to talk with us? And I am not talking about Sox Fest. lol! -
Probably would be best that this goes to Game 7 since there hasn't been a WS Game 7 in awhile and that would generate some buzz. Would prefer that the Cards win. However, a Game 7 would remind me of Bud's stupid rule change of making the All-Star game counting to home field advantage in the World Series. The Cardinals are a wildcard team with home field advantage. A wildcard team should never have home field advantage unless they are going up against another wildcard team. However, I applaud the Cardinals for taking advantage of this loophole. Go Cardinals! lol! I would like the rule changed. Home field advantage should go to the league who wins the majority of interleague games. You could count the All Star game as another interleague play. In 2011, the American League won 131 interleague games, the National League won 121. If you included the All Star game that would be 122. And maybe include a rule that a wildcard team is always the visiting team unless they are up against another wild card team (then use the interleague wins criteria) Lastly, here is another reason to cheer on the Cards to win the World Series...the Cardinals open their home schedule in 2012 against the c-u-BS! Not until April 13th though...that seems like a late opener. haha!

Well I'll leave that rumor alone. I would give Holland the ninth. Let's see what Washington does.
-
Cards only chance tonight is to get Holland out of the game and take their chances against the Ranger's bullpen....Washington...take Holland out now..you have to save him possibly for a {non-existent} {not on the schedule} Game 7. ....lol!

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 23, 2011 -> 09:08 PM) I'm watching the game on ESPN Deportes and Ozzie Guillen is doing color comentary and he said Dave Duncan is the best pitching coach in MLB, nice shot at Coop, lol Honestly most people probably agree that Duncan is the best. Cooper is still pretty good too. Did they ask him the second best pitching coach? lol And so the Rangers are hard to beat in back to back games. Then, Cards in 7. lol! Holland is saving the Rangers bullpen and season.

Cards getting rid of Colby: HUGH + White Sox getting rid of Teahen's contract : + BJs getting Colby and Teahen's contract : - - .....suckers.haha! Some revenge for '93!
-
Pujols should have blown off the media again last night. Just to be consistent. Also, he did it last time and then he had a great game. lol. To me, St. Louis is the better team. Especially with Hamilton not at 100%. LaRussa also is a better manager than Washington. Guess we already know who won the three-way trade between the White Sox, BJs, and the Cards. But I am starting to think that Toronto got the worst end of the trade....Mark Teahen..haha! And everybody was saying that AA won that trade. haha!
-
Rhodes is getting a ring no matter what. Now having the ex-Ranger pitch to Hamilton. That was brilliant. aRussa has used 4 pitchers so far to get 6 outs. He will use his whole bullpen every game. He doesn't care. His motley crue of a bullpen made up mainly of castoffs from other teams. Heck, he burn through them..maybe they all are free agents next year. And LaRussa doesn't have a contract next year yet...just burn your bullpen.. the focus is 2011. lol!

QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) These pitchers are being taken out with like only 80 or so pitches and no one really getting rocked.... it's the weirdest thing I've seen When you know what Pinella would say..."I have to save my starter because he is going to start {unscheduled...might not exist] Game 5!" Wilson was probably taken out one batter too soon. LaRussa loves his pen! That is why Carpenter is out. And also Craig is a better hitter than Carp. Playing under National League rules now. lol!
-
LaRussa just showed why he is a better manager than Washington right there. lol! Now LaRussa will use about 7 pitchers to get 9 outs with the lead. lol!
-
This Freese guy should change his last name to Heat or something. He is on fire. Both starters getting into the sixth. Shocking. lol!
-
People keep saying this year after year. That we are one of the worst. However, we seem to bring up at least one or two guys from our minor league system and they become MLB roster players...either with us or with another team (if we trade them). How do you measure how good or bad your farm system is? Can you measure it at each level? This might just be an subjective opinion.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) How would I react if Frank signed on as hitting coach for the A's? Well, if they wanted him and he was happy, he could go for that and I wouldn't be all that angry. I agree with that if this was about Frank Thomas. However, if Thomas signed up with an AL Central rival like the Twins..I would be po'd at White Sox management for not signing him. lol! But trust me Cleve fans wouldn't like it if Thome signed up as White Sox hitting coach. lol! Especially with a team in the same division.
-
STL has the edge in game 1 at home field and Carpenter pitching. No DH. CJ Wilson has been very hittable in the playoffs so far. Both teams though have solid offensive lineups.
-
Just curious. How would the Cleve fans react to him signing as a coach on the White Sox and not on the Cleves. Thome made up good will with them last season and that could disappear right away. That actually would amuse me. They gave him a statue...lol! Thome would be helping the White Sox batter crush Cleves pitching. lol! Thome goes to the HOF wearing a Cleves cap. But using this logic, Thome probably isn't going to be a hitting coach for the White Sox. You never know but I don't think this is going to happen. Maybe hitting coach for the Cleves.
-
The Rasmus effect. Cards got a lot better when they unloaded Rasmus. And Edwin Jackson pitched good enough to get them the wildcard. I think that Cards will win in 6 or 7 games. Starting pitching has sucked for about everybody this postseason. Could be a lot of slugfests which isn't bad. Dotel and Jackson, ex-White Sox players on the Cards. Michael Young is the guy on the Rangers that Ozzie always loved. Thought that Young would wind up on the White Sox but maybe Kenny did have the same amount of Younglove.
-
Has Thome announced his retirement from baseball as a player? Think that he has to do that first. lol!

QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 16, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) They didn't interview ANYONE, and only about 1/2 interviewed Robin from the sounds of it... Way to do your due diligence. Very professional. I will go on record a week after the hiring that I have no problem with Robin as a person, but there were better candidates and the White Sox didn't even kick on the tires on any of them. It's a slap in the face to the fans. It's like "Hey, idiot, remember Robin Ventura, well guess what he's the new manager deal with it." It's quite insulting. I agree with this. Robin might work out, but why not interview as many people as possible and then make a choice. Didn't sound like they interviewed Alomar Jr, Martinez...heck why not interview Francona. You might get some interesting information at least from them. Like what they thought that this team/organization needed. Ventura never expressed interest in the position. I would at least be respectfully for the guys who are looking for a managerial position and interview them. Could help them just to be interviewed and could get some useful information from guys who are outside the organization. And LaRussa currently doesn't have a contract for 2012. To me, LaRussa would be in play unless he totally was 100% against considering the position.

2011 NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Hairston giveth and taketh away. St Louis wins . UP 3 games to 2. Going back to Milwaukee. Think that they win this series even though Brewers still have home field advantage. And NL has home field advantage in World Series. -
2011 ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs. Texas Rangers Thread
sunofgold replied to Milkman delivers's topic in The Diamond Club
Only way this helps the White Sox next year is that the Tiggs continue to tire themselves out. lol! Maybe a couple of extra innings games would be nice. With Texas winning Game 7. Cannot believe that Valverde doesn't have a blown save this year. Unlikely he can do that again next year.lol I hope ! -
They didn't want to wait and at least see what LaRussa was going to do with St. Louis. I know...most likely going back ..but he doesn't have a deal with them yet. Who know what St. Louis wants to do? There were some rumors that he would be back in 2012 and that is why the White Sox didn't just trade Jackson to St. Louis for Colby Rasmus and not involve Toronto. It is not like somebody was going to swoop up Ventura and steal him from us as a manager. And if LaRussa was our new manager then he could have taken Ventura aboard as a coach. Maybe LaRussa would have to bring Duncan as pitching coach. If that was the case, I would say move Cooper over to bench coach. Just sayin'. lol! LaRussa would cost a lot more especially after the run that he is on this year.

So who is the scorekeeper going to credit this win too. I am assuming Cards hold onto to the lead. Jackson only pitched 4 1/3 innings. I would give the win to Lynn who finished the fifth. So they will probably give the win to Salas who pitched the sixth. lol! -

haha! Hope Rangers win Game 3. Then what will Leylander do? Will he start Zoolander in Game 4 or save him for that potential but so far non-existent Game 5. Just like Pinella planning his strategy around a potential but non-existent Game 4. lol! And ACE Robin Ventura is brought up again. I forgot about his grand slam single. Rather see that then Ryan beating Robin up. lol! -

Well Greinke got the win. lol! Maybe some pitching will show up in this series in game 2. Jackson is starting tonight. -

Leyland is saying that Zoolander is definitely going to start Game 5. What? Leyland pulling a Pinella now. lol! You aren't guaranteed a Game 5 unless you win a game before then. And Zoolander won't pitch Game 4 is you are down three games to nil. Maybe this exposes a weakness with Zoolander. He cannot pitch on three days rest apparantly. An ace in the regular season but maybe not an October Ace. And Tiggs are disappointed b/c they lost Mags. Mags has sucked for at least two or three years now. Guess they have absolutely nothing to replace a below average player. Tiggs are on the ropes right now. Rangers should win this series.
