8/31 GT - SOX vs. Twins - 1:10pm CDT - WGN

The Giants DFA'd Rowand. We can make a trade. Dunn for Rowand. Of course the years don't match up but I rather pay 12M to Rowand for 2012 than I think 14M for Dunn for 2012. -

Viciedo should have been batting fourth and then he would have possibly had the last at bat in the ninth. And Dunn shouldn't be pinch hitting there. Dunn and Dunner make the last two outs. And Peavy not being ready to pitch in the first. This game...sucked. lol! We did make a comeback though. That 7th run by the Twinkies hurt us as well. -

Well, off day tomorrow and we can call up extra players starting Sept 1 (tomorrow...or actually Sept 2 for us). Definitely can use the bullpen today. Don't want to but we can! Try to get at least 4 or 5 innings out of the Peaver! -

I remember a game in the Metrodome where Buehrle gave up 7 runs in the first inning. Then he didn't give up anymore runs and we won the game and MB got the win. Hoping for deja vu today! -

Gotta hope that this is slugfest today and we win 17-16. Anyways, Rowand and Tejada were DFA. Let's bring Rowand back! Where is Crede? Find Crede and reunite the 3 Stooges. -

Twins cannot field balls hit by Rios. It has a strange spin on it and the ball comes off wet and greasy. Not sure why. He must be doctoring his bat. lol! Hey, it is better to be lucky than good. Rios got a couple of easy hits and I am sure somebody else had a couple of hard outs. -
Tiggs has a recent history of blowing division leads. Until they win a division, have to hold them to that standard. lol! Hopefully, the tiggs wilt and we have FLOWERS! Maybe our previous 6 man rotation helps us down the stretch with less tired/more effective starters. Playing a lot of games in the division rest of the season, except for the end against the BJs Just hope that White Sox ghosts don't haunt us like Frank Thomas did in 2006. Fear Thome in Cleveland and even Teahen in Toronto. I hated Teahen as a player (not as a person)...would hate if he got a game winning hit against us or make a great defensive play. lol! I was so happy that KW was able to trade him. So far Teahen only has collected one hit for the BJs and Rasmus is on the DL Or yeah forgot..Wise is on the Bjs. now. Oh, no! lol!

We better beat Dustin Diamond aka Screech. I want to stay on a big winning going against the Tiggs next. Diamond is a lefty and Rios was 2-5 yesterday. Don't mind him playing but rather see Viciedo batting fourth. Chance to knock Twins into last and move closer to first. -
We are beating on the Twins now...that is sweet. Just have to keep going after these guys. The Twins shouldn't scare us this year. lol Hoping for a long long losing streak by the Tiggs. And we need to continue our winning ways. A lot of games now against AL Central. Think it is 27 more in a row! I am viewing this as kinda like playoffs games since we aren't guaranteed any games in October (end of Sept) at this moment. Subject to change. lol!

Now to the right time to DL Dunn. Let him escape from the team and teammates. He has to try to regroup and see what is left in the tank for 2012. It would be the best move for Dunn and the team. Extra time off could help him.

Young Guns prevail again ! WHite Sox winner !

We're in the race! The Cheryl Tig's are good at blowing divisions in the latter part of the season. Not saying we are going to win this division, but don't count us out as now. Just keep playing our best lineup which means ....sorry but Dunn & Dunner are going to have to be bench buddies for now. -
8/27 GT - SOX @ M's - 9:10pm CDT - CSN

I am waiting for a successful 2011 Detroit Tigers implosion...double digit losing streak..please? lol! Let's back into the playoffs like the Seahawks. Luck and success are really the same thing. -
Get it over with and let Buehrle go to Yanks/Red Sox
sunofgold replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Keep Buehrle. He has been such a consistent pitcher over his career. Nice veteran to have on this team. We are going to be getting younger with starters in the near future with Humber, Stewart, Sale (hopefully he starts...lol). -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 02:24 AM) 9PM start on a Saturday? And no WGN? Damnit. I wanted to see Viciedo's debut! Viciedo's played a little bit last year. 104 ABs, 5HRs, 13rbis, .308ave, .321 obp...not too bad. Hopefully he stays on the roster for this year and each year forward. Not sure if he is playing tonight. Maybe tomorrow. -
We have to wait for this division to come to us. Which means a long losing streak by the Tigers. Tigers did fumble away division leads in 2006 and 2009. Probably unlikely. This would be the Tigers first AL Central title and they haven't won a division since the late '80s. Still hate the Tigers ..probably still have memories of Jack Morris throwing a no-hitter against us. A few fights/brawls with them (2000 comes to mind)...but tired of the Twins winning the division. If the White Sox aren't going to win the division in any year, I probably would prefer the Royals to win this division. haha! Only other team in the AL Central that I can kinda tolerate right now. Only thing remotely interesting if the Tigers win the division if that they could potentially meet the Diamondbacks (manager by Kirk Gibson now) in the Series (unlikely. but possible...kinda like a 2008 All Chicago World Series)...well that would probably be more interesting to Tigers fans. lol!

White Sox @ Angels, 8/24 - 9:05, WCIU/ESPN2
sunofgold replied to Steve9347's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Let's get a couple unearned runs and one earned run and win 3-2. We are fading in the division, but the Cheryl Tig's are overdue for a double digit losing streak. heehee! -
I think KW has been a better GM than Hendry. Hendry wasn't that bad. KW did wind up with some bad, long term contracts..Linebrink, Peavy, Teahen, Rios, Dunn. However, KW did find a way to move Teahen and Linebrink..a few other rotten tomatoes like Vazquez. I guess KW was better at erasing some of his bad trades by moving these players to other teams. lol! Both the White Sox and Cubs went after Peavy at some point. We got him ...but wish we didn't. lol! Both the White Sox and Cubs went hard after Fukudome...We didn't get him and we are glad that we didn't....however we screwed up CF anyways with the Rios signing. lol! KW though has made some great trades/transaction...especially 2004/2005 when he had the golden touch. Trading Loazia for Contreras at the right time. Trading for Freddy Garcia at the right time. Signing Iguchi, AJ, and Dye, El Duque....wow! And then trading Carlos Lee for Podsednik, Viciano , and freeing up some money for the other FAs...signing Hermanson to boster the bullpen. That was KW's golden era! Like was posted earlier, Hendry might had a similar period. Getting Simon/Ramirez. The DLee deal, etc. ..but not as good as KW golden era! lol!

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 03:04 AM) He's got his head on straight, Gordon could learn from this guy and that's saying a LOT I really like Tyler Flowers. He's not gonna hit .300+ like AJ has done over his career, but he could be a poor man's Mike Napoli which I'll take every damn day of the week Yes. Flowers is looking decent. I was worried that he might be a bust. Not a bad pickup with Lillibridge for Vazquez (dude we wanted to get rid of in 2008) and Boone Logan.
-
Tim Laker...he must be getting the job done. Flowers and De Aza look decent. Would he be our next hitting coach?
-
Something to consider...Detroit hasn't had a winning second half (after All Star break) since 2000. I have them at 19-15 in second half so far. They also have been in first place in Sept of 2006 and 2009 but didn't win the division. Tigers have never won the AL Central (realignment in 1998).... guess we just have to hang in (all-in) there and see what happens
-
Now would be the perfect time to DL Dunn for the season and call up Viciedo. Let Lillibridge play 1B and Paulie DH this week. Then Sept 1, we could bring up another backup 1B just for insurance. Not sure how to get Viciedo in the mix, but getting Dunn out of the mix would be the key. lol! Maybe when Paulie feels better to play some 1B, then Viciedo to DH? But there is no timetable of Paulie getting back to playing 1B.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Offense+Pitching=Win. Our best played game this season? Maybe except for the two errors. Maybe there was a better played game by us in Boston. However, this has to be our best game in the while. We beat a good team with a strong offense 10 to nil. Impressive win. De Aza and Flowers have been hitting since called up. Pierre now has 39 RBIs ..that is impressive after his slow start.
