  1. Jim Boylan likes Chris Duhon WAYYYY too much. And Ellis is pretty decent. Excellent vertical leap, nice mid range game. He's lucky that Baron Davis can defend SG's though.
  2. Keith and Steve, maybe you should put each other on ignore, so we can try and keep things civil here. Anyways, excellent performance on the road, although Colorado are banged up themselves. And is Savy trying to create a goalie controversy here?
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 18, 2008 -> 09:41 AM) I'm off to play Poker at the Crown Casino tonight where the Aussie Millions Tournament is happening at the moment (quite a lot of pro's down here as well, but sadly not Daniel Negreanu). And that's certainly a bad beat Keith. Nothing like getting sucked out on the river. Well I had a very interesting night. I played on the $20 tables, and I had a few Canadiens, two Brits and a American (who all he had in his possesion was his passport and fake rolex). And I think one of the Brits was actually this guy, he was calling himself Foxy, and he was burning money like crazy. Other people on the table said he could easily afford it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Fox I only put in $20 and finished up $127 so I was happy. Got to see a bit of the Aussie Millions action on the TV Screen also, saw Andy Black get knocked out.
  4. If I'm Tallon, I still try to go all out for Huet in the off-season. There's really no place for him in Montreal, with Carey Price emerging. Or Tallon could even look at Jaroslav Halak who I believe is a restricted FA. I think as well, the general thought on Khabibulin was that he was a goalie that got better with more consistent work, and unfortunately in that stretch when we were decimated that wasn't the case, hence why Lalime was given a chance and now we're riding the hotter goalie. I think Tampa Bay would take him back in a heartbeat considering; a - How bad they've been this season b - How bad their goaltending currently is. You'd just have to work out the right deal cap wise.
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 02:05 AM) It's hard to preach potential when a player is 34 years old. Yeah, he's capable of pulling down a 3.5, but no moreso than MacDougal when he's rolling, and its hard to find a reliever with a worse track-record health wise. It's a fine signing, I just don't see it as a great improvement to the ballclub that the rest do... This move really does not make the Sox any better for 2008 unless they can get some value for MacDougal which is highly doubtful. I think this signing actually helps MacDougal in 2008. He doesn't like the high pressure situations, so now Mac can pitch in just the 6th/7th innings, and hopefully get back to where he was in 2006. And that will make our whole bullpen better.
  6. Well it's an interesting and risky signing. But I am happy that KW still saw our bullpen as being a problem, and at least now he has tried to do something about it with the acquisitions of Dotel and Linebrink. Obviously with Dotel the query about him is always going to be his health. He had a 3.91 ERA for the Royals in 2007, and I would take that for us. I wonder if the contract has incentives involved, and whether MacDougal or Thornton could be used in a trade with either Crede or Uribe to try and get rid of their contracts.
  7. Well Lalime has been pretty solid over the past few games, certainly better than Khabibulin in his last few. And last night's game was a total reverse of the Minny game. IIRC, the Blues outshot us last night, but Lalime blocked them out, while we only had around 20 shots and put 6 on the board. I know you like to defend him, and when he's in form he is a top 10 goalie in the NHL, but you can't say that his recent play has been that inspiring. And in the salary cap age, paying $7M for a goalie who only has around a .900 SVG, I think most people can be justified for asking for a little more. And I mean sure the team in front of him isn't great, but it's better than in season's past, and I don't think Khabi has really stepped up his game like most of the team has.
  8. Well just because he expects him doesn't mean it's definitely going to happen, but it's likely, and promising news nonetheless. My guess would be he starts the year off in AAA because the Sox can't find a taker for Uribe's contract. If they could trade Uribe, Ramirez becomes the utility man off the bench from the get-go.
  9. So that's Crede and Uribe making a combined $9.6M this season. That's not a very good use of resources is it. Ideally, they'd both be off the 25 man roster before the first game of the season in April, but my guess is 1 (probably Uribe) will be on the bench to start the season.
  10. Yeah he'll be there. He's there pretty much every year now. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!!

  12. Yeah not going to be a good day here either. Will be the 10th day in a row our market will be going downwards, the only question is how much?
  13. Very happy on Garrett. I think Phillips is probably gone at the end of his 3 year deal unless he wins a superbowl. In Jason's mind, it was probably too early for him to become a head coach. He's only been an offensive co-ordinator for 1 season, and Dallas is pretty much his dream job. Even though it's probably illegal, Jerry Jones has probably told him the job will be his in a couple of seasons. And both jobs weren't really that appealing. Atlanta has argubly the worst collection of talent in the NFL. That will be a long rebuild. The Ravens have an aging defense, and an offense in a flux, with Boller / McGahee etc., and Ogden likely to retire. They're not very happy in B-More about this, but really it isn't a top notch job as they're claiming it to be, just because they went 13-3 a season ago. Things have changed a bit since then.
  14. Good news on Sharp, he's been a shrewd acquisition and deserves a long - term deal with his play this season. As for the Adams deal, maybe it's the end for LaPointe, unless either of those 2 could play center on the 4th line. We have enough 3rd/4th line scrappers, and really need a 1st or 2nd line winger in the off-season along with a top D-Man. Hopefully with some cap space, that's do-able.
  15. 2 wins in a row for Lalime. Keep him in there please Savvy.
  16. I suppose you could just wait until Campbell hits UFA, but there's less of a chance you sign him then. As for the Barker rumors, I still would rather hang onto him. I mean it took a couple of seasons for Seabrook to get used to the pace of the NHL and he's emerged as a pretty good D-Man for us. So I see the same happening for Barker eventually.
  17. It's all Kobe's fault.......... I actually think a Randolph for Wallace trade could be beneficial for both teams, but I doubt either would consider it. Bulls get a low post scorer they desperately need, while the Knicks get a decent defender to put alongside the defenceless Eddy Curry.
  18. So Dolphins fans, you happy with the Tony Sparano signing?
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2008 -> 04:26 AM) In case you didn't catch it, that post is me mocking the people who think that Pax is too timid to make a deal for a big star, because right now no team out there is stupid enough to trade the Bulls a big star for any of the guys they have the way they're playing. Ah ok. Well I'd say the Bulls are definitely stuck with Wallace. McGrady isn't a Paxson type of player, and the Bulls would have to offer a 1st plus Thomas plus Wallace IMHO to at least get the Rockets to consider it. As for the Bell and Diaw deal, Bell is very valuable to Phoenix. He's their best perimeter defender, and they'll need him in the playoffs, especially if they face the Lakers. Diaw has certainly regressed, but he still has some decent offensive skills, and if they did that deal, they'd have to start Barbosa, that'd be a very undersized backcourt. I'd say the Bulls could offer Wallace to the Knicks for one of their contracts (Zach Randolph for example). They could try a Bibby and Kenny Thomas for Wallace and something else maybe (probably a player plus a pick). In fact I'd say, if the Bulls want to dump Wallace, they're going to have to put Tyrus Thomas in a trade with him.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) -28, I'll thank you not to underestimate our terribleness. Damn, Paxson really ought to pull the trigger on Wallace for McGrady. He's such a coward I can't figure out why Paxson won't do that deal! Houston would be crazy to do that even if T-Mac's become such a fragile, injury prone player. And the Rockets have Hayes / Scola at PF. and I couldn't see how Big Bum could fit into Adelman's offense either.
  21. So the Bulls got hammered again by the Magic. You know things are bad when Brian Cook who's only played twice in 20 games or so comes off the bench and has double figures in scoring. Wallace was -20 or so when he was on the floor, really becoming a liability for the Bulls.
  22. So how does winning Michigan help Romney in the whole scheme of things?
  23. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 15, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) If I were him, I wouldn't get too "excited". He might be related to her. And then I saw this article (and she was phootgraphed on the street I work on); http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...6-11088,00.html
  24. Ana Ivanovic starts playing in the Aussie Open today. Get excited SoxFan1. She is Serbian after all.
