    Happy Australia Day!

I just caught this thread. Ha. Nice to see you celebrate our national day. What did I do on Australia Day? Spent the day on the beach on a hot day and got drunk, as you should on Australia Day.
  2. Yeah at least they'll have the potential to have him for 2 seasons after he hits arbitration. He'll be right in his prime then, so he should definitely cash in.

    Who is dieting?

I'm the complete opposite, I need to put weight on. My family's always been pretty small though. So I'm trying to eat a lot more protein, and hoping that makes a bit of a difference.
  4. And I think Sloan actually wants a defensive big next to Okur, who doesn't really like doing those "dirty" things. So that's probably the Bulls best option if they wanted to dump Wallace. Do Kirilenko and Deng fit as the SF/PF's though?
  5. Unless you're from the EXTREME South-Side like me.
  6. And the Lakers probably wouldn't have wanted Wallace. He offers nothing offensively, and wouldn't be a great fit in the triangle. That rumor was just Sam Smith making up something on the fly again as he always does.
  7. Well at least the Giants didn't run up the score either. Isn't that right Bill?
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) They were in AZ, DBAHO. Where is Kate Mara? /She's hot. I meant in New England as the team not the place. But yes a Kate Mara sighting would be nice also.
  9. Is that seriously the best playoff run ever by any team in NFL History? The Giants beat the Bucs in Tampa, beat Dallas in Dallas, beat Green Bay in a snowy Lambeau Field, and beat the unbeatable team in New England. And yes I am ecstatic right now. And it's all because of Belichick and Brady and the Patriots and hearing how damn good this team is, and watching them choke on the biggest stage of all.
  10. Well the Giants are actually getting to Brady, they're just not doing anything offensively. And in the end, it's probably going to cost them.
  11. QUOTE(iamshack @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) I was actually in that strip mall as the police first began pulling in. My roommate and I were going to the SuperTarget there to buy food for our Super Bowl party. Right as we were coming towards the entrance to the strip mall, an Oak Forest police car roared up and started blocking the entrance. We went around to another entrance, parked the car, and started walking to the Target. We were actually the first customers denied entry to the store. A policeman was there with a Target manager, and the manager stated that there was "something going on in the area and they were told they could no longer let anyone in or out of the store." As we were walking back to the car, squads from Oak Forest, Matteson, Orland Park, Cook County Sheriff's Police, State Police, and unmarked cars were flying in. A group of ambulances had gathered near Lane Bryant. I figured they were just parking there because that was an empty area of the parking lot. As we were walking back to the car, a woman was approaching Target, and we told her that they weren't letting anyone in or out. She said that she had just dropped her husband off at Best Buy, and she had tried to go to Lane Bryant, but they weren't letting anyone in. She must have missed the shooting by 10 minutes, as the 911 call came in at 10:44 and this was no later than 10:55. We then left and drove to the Tinley Park Jewel, but as we were en route, there were police cars from all the neighboring communities flying by, and choppers coming in. It was crazy. Apparently this guy may have entered the Target after the shooting incident, in search of a change of clothes. Pretty scary to think that we were so close to being there at the same time.... Wow that's a crazy story. Very lucky set of circumstances right there. Just sad how things like this can happen, and it happens far too often.
  12. How long does Shaq have left on his deal then? IIRC, Phoenix gets Atlanta's pick at the end of this season. They may look to replace Marion with a SF/PF there, and then use Shaq in the middle, but they couldn't really play up-tempo anymore.

    SDOGPEIT

So which is the most important state for either candidate to win on Tuesday (and that's for both Democrats and Republicans)?
  14. What happens if Shaq retires say at the end of this season, in terms of does that team still have to pay him, but does it still count against the cap?
  15. That's quite a pounding there for McCain. Of course it means absolutely nothing. If Romney wasn't winning by that much, I'd be worried if I was him.
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 05:59 AM) I always thought the NBA All Star teams could expand their rosters by 2 or so. Legit exhibition. Baron Davis is the biggest snub ever. If you add Hedo, who do you take off? Butler or Jamison, probably the latter. Also palehosefan, there's a rumor of Hoopsworld about a Shaq for Diaw and Marion deal. Perhaps Robert Sarver is desperate to cut costs, or Phoenix has just grown tired of Marion and wants to unload Diaw's contract as well.
  17. So does anyone else think Hedo Turkoglu deserved a bench spot on the All - Star Team? Granted his numbers aren't as good as say a Joe Johnson, but he plays on a winning team, and right now I don't know if there's many better players in the 4th quarter. He's single handledy won us a few games in those situations. And the Magic have won 7 of 8 and are getting back on track after a bit of a slump. Looking good things for 3rd in the East.
  18. How much is Odom making compared to Kidd though? I think they're pretty good where they are now, Odom sliding over to SF creates some serious mismatch problems. Fisher / Farmer is a pretty decent PG combo ATM, although obviously Kidd would make it better. And yes, I think if the Lakers can stay completely healthy, they'll win the West. Gasol and Bynum are going to be so hard to stop down low. And as for the trade, Memphis are desperate for expiring contracts, as shown by the 2 deals today. They need to rebuild. The Darko Milicic signing hasn't paid off, and they need runners if they're going to utilise Marc Iavaroni's offense.

    LOST!!!!

So quick recap (maybe in spoiler tags for anyone who taped it) for anyone who didn't see the premiere?
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 1, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) I actually was a Jerry Owens fan a couple of years ago, but I don't see it now. Perhaps if he showed the improvement everyone said he showed on his second call-up last season I might be on board, but hanging on the edge. It simply wasn't true. While his July was Ok, approximately what Crisp gives you on a worst case scenerio year, his August was about as bad as his September was good. So the 3 months after his callup for a bonafide major leaguer were: average, terrible, great. Great was also the kind of month Juan Uribe had in September. The difference is there, it was what Uribe's 4th or 5th season in the majors, and it was Owens' 1st. So you would expect for Jerry Owens to get better in the future. I would have him against RHP's in a 4th OF role, and have him leadoff on those occasions. Give him 2 or 3 starts a week, and allow for Cabrera to leadoff the rest of the time. As for Uribe, I don't expect much good from him at all. He's had 4 seasons here, and has gone down offensively ever since his 1st. With Crisp, if you could get him for MacDougal + say Shelby, I'd make the deal in an instant. Crisp if healthy (and that's a BIG if), would probably hit around .290 and have an OBP around the .350-.360 mark, with decent pop. But I doubt Boston is going to settle for that, and we don't have much else to deal.
  21. And yet because of Bureau's analysis, Poreda's stock has fallen mightily around here since 6 months ago. Biggest surprise in the top 10? Maybe Travis Snider for mine.
  22. Isn't it sad that the Bulls scored 67 points against Minnesota, lost, and yet they're still only about 2 games out of 8th place in the East. And Magic Johnson thinks the Knicks will make the playoffs without Starbury now.
  23. Who would take on Havlat though, and what type of offer would the Hawks consider for him? Also on Savard, I think compared to past coaches this franchise has had over the next decade, he's pretty good. Injuries have really just decimated this team. A player such as Jason Williams who is really underrated (his impact on the PP for example) hasn't played for ages, and I'd just like to see what Savard could do with this team when everyone is completely healthy. He may not get that chance though.
  24. Really not the start Khabibulin needed after the ASB if he wants to get back to being the undisputed #1 goalie in Chicago was it.
