  1. Don't know if I would have Cunningham in our 2 position prospects either witesoxfan. Would maybe have Ryan Sweeney in there ahead of him, but it'd be pretty close. Either way, Cunningham is a VERY solid prospect. We need more hits like him in the 7th-8th round in the future.
  2. Danks would have to be dealt IMHO to get Roberts. The only way they can justify that is if they sign Colon to be part of the rotation. And I think if given the opportunity, Richar could easily put up around a .750 OPS this season, with the potential for more. He's got decent plate discipline for starters.
  3. I usually sat up the back, in the last 5-10 rows, our lecture halls were pretty big. But by the 3rd year, I found myself just not going to lectures. Do the pracs / tutes, and do your big study before the exam, and I was fine.
  4. Udoka's replaced Barry in the Spurs rotation. Sounds as if we had an offer on table for Thomas also (I'm guessing Arroyo + Garrity + Augustine + future 1st). We might turn out attention to either Wilcox or Haslem now. But a good move for the Spurs. Thomas can defend, Shaq, Gasol, Bynum etc. in the playoffs, and that will help Duncan immensely to focus on the offensive end more.
  5. Domino's and Pizza Hut are just TERRIBLE down here. They got a roasting for the salt and fat content in their Pizza's recently. Our pizza sucks down here. No deep dish, all thin crust, and there are only a few decent places at best.
  6. All in all, it was a pretty scrappy - dirty game. Probably a sign that the rivalry b/w the Blues and Hawks is starting to heat up again, 2 young teams with eyes on the playoffs. I heard that Perrault is injured as well, hindering DT's efforts to deal him. I would have thought Phoenix would have had some interest in him (considering his success there last season, and they're in a playoff spot).
  7. Everyone in our department got told by our "new" boss we need to start getting into work at 8:30 at the latest (people were getting slack and coming in 8:40 etc.). But since I only have 5 weeks left in my position, I can't really be bothered changing my routine in the morning, to come in 10 mins earlier (especially when my boss isn't even in the office in the morning half the time).
  8. The 9-73 record. There are too many good teams now in the West for anyone to go 72-10 IMHO. Boston were the closest you're probably going to have, and they're not going to get it. Miami are going to get pretty close to that record, once they decide to shut down Wade, and trade Haslem.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) It was more of a hip check than a knee on knee from what I saw. Well it was pretty borderline, but you're probably right (since you've seen way more hockey than I have).
  10. If the Sox traded for Roberts though, here's how the lineup would look IMHO (it's up for debate, especially the middle of the order, and the #2 spot). 2B - Roberts SS - Cabrera CF - Swisher DH - Thome 1B - Konerko RF - Dye C - Pierzynski 3B - Fields LF - Quentin / Owens That looks pretty deep anyways.
  11. I miss Steve. One of the better old timers we had around the site. All the best dude, and Happy B-Day!!!
  12. This was from a month back; I hope the Sox think he's going to be able to get some of that lost velocity back if they do sign him. Because if he doesn't, well he could get lit up ALA Contreras in 2007.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) 3.Danks is 22, and has had one medicore season at AAA. Would it be the worst thing for him to get some work in AAA, work on some things?(Cutter?) I don't think that's exactly the worst scenario either. If Floyd outperforms him in ST, and we've got Colon, make Danks pitch at AAA, and be 1st cab off the ranks if we need him.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) That would be a miserable deal. Yippee -- let's trade arguably our brightest young pitcher for a non-elite 30-year old second-baseman just to fill the imaginary hole of not having a "leadoff man". Depends what version of Brian Roberts you're getting. 05 - .314/.387/.515 06 - .286/.347/.410 07 - .290/.377/.432 That OBP would look pretty good at the top of our order (compared to say Cabrera's .320-.330 mark). If Roberts was guaranteed of putting up a +.825 OPS for us, with about 40-50 SB's a season, that makes him pretty valuable. But I suppose it also depends on how highly the Sox brass value Danny Richar.
  15. Bah, lady luck was definitely not on Inter's side. Materrazzi didn't deserve to be sent off. Didn't see the 1st yellow card, but heard that was very debatable. As for the 2nd, Torres went to ground, as soon as there was the SLIGHTEST of contact. Don't think it's really right for Rafa to be standing and pointing up 2 fingers as well. Becoming quite a deluded man is Rafa. I think Inter will get them on the 2nd leg though.
  16. So I'm out for lunch, with my team at work, and we go to a European Beer Cafe. And what they do have on the TV Screen, Chicago vs. St. Louis. SWEET. So I got to see the end of the 1st, and the majority of the 2nd period. Seemed a very physical game, and that knee to knee hit from Burish didn't exactly go over too well with some of the Blues. And with the score now, it seems it was building up to that, with the shot count the way it was.
  17. So if this did indeed happen, would this make either Danks or Floyd expendable in a Brian Roberts deal (with Danny Richar being included also). Something like I dunno, Danks + Richar + Uribe for Roberts (maybe with us adding in something else).
  18. Not a kind analysis from Charles Rosen;
  19. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 06:04 AM) good for the Uribe to Oriole rumors. Yeah that was my 1st thought as well. Let's hope Hernandez bombs in Spring Training. We could still trade both Crede and Uribe for prospects, and save 9.5M in payroll.
  20. Would anyone else love sneaking in as the #8 seed, and knocking out Detroit in the 1st round (because opposing teams against the Wings have a decent recent record in 1st round matchups against them)?
  21. What do the Bears need most though? Help at RB, WR or the OL? Which way do you go in round 1? If Malcolm Kelly is there at 14, do they pull the trigger? And do they keep Grossman as a starter?
  22. All I'll say on Walker is this. The Sox hitters have 3 months to perform. And you can throw out the excuses with cold weather, new players etc., but Walker has had plenty of time to get this group to perform and he hasn't gotten the job done with quite a few players e.g Juan Uribe.
  23. Steve, the logic for the Redden deal for Ottawa, is that they're probably not going to re-sign him in the off-season. So they'd rather get something for him no, but I think he has a NTC, so I doubt he'll be dealt. And I don't think they trust either Gerber or Emery in the playoffs.
  24. Yeah if Berrian goes as well, the Bears are SERIOUSLY lacking at WR. Moose back to Carolina I imagine. He was Delhomme's favorite receiver.
