  1. With the cap rising to $54M, I suppose Richards cap number isn't THAT bad, but he'll still be overpaid. I'm hoping it's Khabibulin we're offering, and then Havlat and Ruutu for Staal. That's frees up about 6M in cap room, and we should go all out for Brian Campbell in the off-season, and target Cristobal Huet as well (if the Bulin Wall is dealt). Boyle re-signing with Tampa is a blow.
  2. Oh yes, Ferris Bueller. Who could forget Ed Rooney. Best Principle Ever. I can't believe that Cameron was 29 when that film was made though.
  3. QUOTE(Shadows @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) Dallas I don't care what Jerry Jones says, hes interested Well I disagree, because of this main point. Dallas can't really afford to pay a signing bonus for a top 10 ATM. They're going to place 1st and 3rd tenders on Barber and Canty, and that'll cost 5M. Signing Thomas eats up another 1-2M in cap room, and they only about 12M before this off-season. So they'll probably have to restructure a few contracts or maybe make some releases (Ferguson, Ayodele). But I guess we'll wait and see. I'd rather draft a RB in the 2nd round, and get help at CB and a big nose tackle in round 1 (or a good young WR).
  4. Looking at how our team has done over the past few seasons, it'd be more advantageous, if the Sox were on the road for the majority of the 1st 2 months of the season. They could really make a charge midway through the season, playing a lot of games at home in the warmer weather, where our hitters would surely put up better numbers.
  5. There's also the questions about his arm / shoulder and whether that would hold up over a long - term period. My guess is though, if the Sox could sign him a 3/18M contract next off-season, if he was still healthy, they'd do it in a second. I'd say he'd probably ask for more though. I mean Eric Gagne got $10M this off-season FWIW.
  6. The Wizard. Who can ever forget the Power Glove (I think that's what it was called).
  7. Would the Pats rather a 3-4 OLB or a CB to replace Asante Samuel if he leaves though? And what teams would realistically trade up for McFadden at this point? My guess would be Carolina, maybe Seattle, the Texans and the Cardinals. And I wouldn't count out the Bears either.
  8. I think it's fair to say Clinton is getting pretty desperate at this point. She'll try anything in order to win Ohio, Texas and the nomination I feel. That's just how the Clinton's are.
  9. Yeah he'll certainly get quite a sizeable raise next season. So the Sox are going to have to factor that in, for next season's payroll obviously. Although having Uribe's 4.5M come off the books (if he's not re-signed), will help. Just shows the value of having good young major league players. If Jenks was a FA, he could easily be making over $10M this season. Instead he'll only make about 500K.
  10. I heard Richards for Leclaire could be going down, although I don't really know why Columbus would want to trade a good young goalie. Doesn't really make sense for us considering how much he is making compared to his production. Brett Hull seemed pretty desperate to make a move. Shipping out LaPointe for anything at this point is probably a good thing, hence why the Craig Adams acquisition was made as a replacement for next season I guess. And I'm still for acquiring Jordan Staal if we can, I doubt it will happen though.
  11. Wow that's a HUGE boost for the Avs. And they need it, considering they're fighting for one of the last playoff spots in the West. Sakic / Forsberg / Statsny is a very nice trio though.
  12. Guess this only really leaves Kyle Lohse as a viable SP option out there. Sounded as if Bora$$ was going to wait until a team suffers an injury in a rotation or something. As for Colon, it came down to whether he was healthy or not. Kenny has put his faith in Contreras, Danks and Floyd. Our season depends on how those guys do.

Anything on Heath Ledger during the awards?
  14. I actually think Kurt Thomas would have been the perfect type of player for the Jazz to go after. But then they'd have to give up expiring contracts / draft picks etc. But they need that type of defensive center who can still knock down a jumper or 2. It's just so hard to find those type of guys. As for Kirilenko, I think he'll be dealt if the Jazz don't do well in the playoffs. Maybe they could target a Shawn Marion, I don't know.
  15. McFadden's not as good of a prospect as Peterson though I've heard. I guess we'll wait and see.
  16. Well the Rockets showed how good they have become. Major sleeper team right now, and I'd be putting some $$$$ on them to win the whole thing depending on their odds. But the West is so loaded, it's so hard to pick who's going to win. Definitely not going to be Denver or Golden State though. Any other team in contention probably can.
  17. I don't know if you can trade Lang now since we didn't sign Forsberg, unless you trade for another center. I'm still all for trading Havlat / Ruutu for Staal though. Stockpile picks / great young players, and give it a major crack next season.
  18. Well I'll say at least the Bulls have got a pretty deep bench and 10 man rotation now. Bringing Deng off the bench is quite interesting to say the least. Has he been healthy lately?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) Apparently you've never seen Monster. Well played sir. And then there was Aeon Flux, I don't know what she was thinking there. I'm rooting for Ellen Page, but I doubt she wins. Be nice if Juno won something though. That French Actress may get it instead maybe.
  20. Question for Bears fans. McFadden sounds as if he's got some serious character issues, and he's slipping. Atlanta probably ain't going to take him at #3, who knows what the Raiders will do at #4. My question is, if he's there at #14, do you take him?
  21. The Yotes are my 2nd favorite team. It'd be nice to see them make the playoffs for Gretzky and the city (as the team has been just terrible since Tkachuk and Roenick left), but not at the expense of the Hawks. The Jobing Arena, looks tiny next to the University of Arizona Stadium though.
  22. I'd say the Jazz have a decent shot coming out of the West as well Willy. The Korver addition really gave them an outside presence (which Kirilenko doesn't have), and it's opened up the court more for Williams and Boozer to play those picks and rolls, which they do so well. And they made the conference finals last season, so anything is possible. Long - term, I think they need upgrades at SF and C. Don't know if you can win a championship with Mehmet Okur hoisting up shots from the outside all of the time.
