Right now, you'd say the trade hasn't really paid off for either team at this point. Still right now, at least Danks is healthy.
-
And we actually won a ST game for a change. Sounds like our hitters had a good day.
-
Just a few thoughts on the situation; 1 - I hope the Sox certainly did their research on Quentin's shoulder. At the time of the trade, I remembered hearing they did, but it's not promising to see him being held out etc. ATM. I think he'll start the season on the DL with BA as the 4th OF (unless he shows that he's healthy, then BA is dealt). 2 - Uribe starting at 2B, will frustrate me greatly. Another season of .220 hitting with over 100K's coming up, if he starts every game. Luckily, I think once Richar can actually show he's healthy, he'll be back starting, well at least that's what I'm hoping. Just annoying that you know 2 guys in Quentin and Richar, if healthy will produce decent to good numbers, and neither looks like starting at this point. 3 - And Dick, yes Uribe has a lot of talent. And that's why he annoys me so much with the numbers he puts up. He is capable of producing like Miggy Tejada did in his prime seasons in Oakland. Instead, now he's lost his SS job, and he really should be a bench player. Doesn't deserve another opportunity to start, because he's not going to make the most of it. He doesn't change his swing, and last season was once of his worst defensively.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 04:50 AM) CW is trying to GET Ben, so it's not him. Like I said before, it has to be someone that Locke would "need to sit down for" according to Ben. It's clearly a character that people will be familar with. Easy Pick: Michael Back from the Dead Pick: Charlie Dark Horse Pick: Jack's Father Crazy Pick: Brett Favre Maybe Ben is trying to get the Losties to think CW is bad, but he's really not, I don't know. I think there's still a possibility of a double cross or something. Jack's Dad could be logical, but I think he's more linked with Jacob somehow instead (from when Hugo saw him). Or how about Jack's former wife Sarah (I think that's her name)?

Marion won't opt out. He won't get anything close to 17M on the open market currently. Miami might try to use him in a sign and trade deal with Elton Brand possibly. But Marion's ending deal would be quite the trading chip at the next trade deadline. Grizzlies are likely to sign Gordon I'd say. ATM, Marion needs to prove he can play without a stud PG giving him the ball. His overall numbers are down a little IIRC since he joined Miami.

If it's Michael, it'll be a major letdown, since that's who everyone assumes it is. I'm going to say a surprise and say Charles Widmore. Don't know why, but that's my guess.
-
Crawford to get the next start?
-
Anyone else tried out Audiosurf on Steam? Really enjoying it thus far.

Also if Thomas was dealt (which may look likely at this stage, depends if a new coach was hired in the off-season etc.), what would Bulls fans want in return for him?
-
Someone compared Carl Landry to a poor man's Charles Barkley, and that's actually a pretty good comparison. I think after Yao went down, they'd struggle, but Dikembe Mutombo has come in, and they haven't missed a beat. Rick Adelman is a damn good coach. Also, I'm getting sick of experts saying only 3 teams can win the East, Boston, Detroit or Cleveland. Orlando has 2-1 records over Boston and Detroit, while Cleveland's struggling to fit all of the new guys in. If Turk and Lewis are knocking down 3 pointers in the playoffs, why can't they win the East?
-
It's still a terrible waste of resources though. A team such as Tampa Bay would love to have that 4.5M to spend. I have that much lack of faith in Uribe offensively, I don't know if he's ever going to have a +.300 OBP again as a hitter (IIRC, even after that late offensive HR explosion he had last season, he still finished below .300).
-
So Charles Widmore owns the freighter. Heard it was kind of a "meh" episode though. Loved reading the ending with Ben though. Hands down the best character on TV right now IMHO.

That's a little too high IMHO for him. -

I'll take Dominque Rogers - Cromartie at #22, and Felix Jones or a WR who slips at #28. And that's unless Stewart the RB falls to #22. McFadden is still the interesting one. The Raiders and Jets are the 2 teams most likely to pick him in the top 10, I think the Jets would probably pull the trigger at #6 if he was available. -
Either way, it's good to be having these type of discussions about who's going to be making the pen. It shows for the 1st time, we actually have a little depth there. It's just the guys in the pen, just have to perform. A league average pen last season, and the Sox probably win 5 more game at least.

Marty Booker, Brandon Lloyd sign with Bears

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) Tank Johnson, DBAH0. He is a Cowboy, right? I think I got him confused with the safety Tank Williams. But hey, at least I got the 1st name right hey? I mean, how many "Tank's" are there in the league? -
I hate Steven Gerrard. That is all.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) I'm concerned about Quentin's health. However, Willits is pretty overrated on this site. Willits had what around a .390 OBP last season. I'll say he's not going to put that up again, but if he came to us, he'd be moving into a ballpark that's more of a hitters park. He's got fantastic plate discipline also (I'll stop raving, otherwise I'll turn into beautsox). You'd control him for 5 seasons as well, the 1st 2 cheaply. I mean Jerry Owens puts up a .325 OBP last season (there abouts). You can see why people would be excited with a trade for Willits.
-
I'm going to throw this out there, and apologies if this causes some heated debate. Say Crawford gets another 2-3 chances to perform, and does as well as he did tonight. My question is, can the Hawks go into next season with a goalie tandem of Lalime and Crawford, and trade Khabibulin to a team in desperate need of goaltending? The Hawks could then use that money they save from trading the Bulin Wall to try and sign Brian Campbell. You sign Campbell, that improves the defence even more, and would argubly be the big strength of this team. And the Hawks should have some $$$ left over easily to sign 1 maybe 2 top 6 forwards, with the cap rising to $52M next season IIRC.
-
Wow, what a time to be playing your best hockey. That's 9 out of 12 now. Big time game from Crawford tonight. You knew the Ducks were going to come out in the 3rd and really have a red hot go, and Crawford stood up beautifully. Unfortunately, Phoenix beat Dallas in Dallas, so we are still behind them. I think we're only 4 points back of 8th now though, even in games.
-
That really makes the Quentin acquisition pretty pointless then, if you're going to have him on the bench. I think it's more likely if Willits was dealt, he platoons in LF, or he could play CF when he plays for Quentin (platooning), with Swisher moving over to a corner OF spot. I don't think Swisher is going to be as bad as advertised in CF actually.
-
I just saw the box score and the amount of penalties in the 1st period. Sounds like a feisty game to say the least. But let's hope the Hawks inability to convert on the PP doesn't come back to haunt them tonight.
-
That bodes well for his future as a Bull doesn't it. Trade bait in the off-season I'd say. Memphis should try a Miller plus future 1st for Gordon / Thomas sign and trade deal. Could always include Brian Cardinal's expiring deal as well I guess.
-
I would have him over Owens. Willits is a lefty isn't he? He could always platoon in LF with Quentin, and you have Swisher leading off against lefties. If you could him get cheaply, I'd be for the move.
-
I don't mind that option either. But I'm just thinking what the Sox management would do here. It's obvious BA isn't in their plans. Why would they have traded for Quentin, and be giving Owens such an opportunity to win a job, if they still thought BA was capable of producing? If he can build up his value just enough so that the Sox could get some young pitching for him (and the Marlins are pretty loaded there), I think they'd pull the trigger. If you keep BA, he doesn't get a chance and he struggles again in Charlotte, his trade value is completely shot.
