Ok recapping today's events for the 8th spot in the East; Orlando beat Detroit by 2. The Pacers lost to the Knicks by 2. Boston beat the 76ers by 10. Standings Indiana 36-39 (7) Chicago 35-40 (8) Philly 34-41 (9) Boston 32-44 (10) Orlando 31-44 (11) The Pacers should still make the playoffs. They have upcoming games against the Knicks at home, Toronto, Minny and Charlotte. The Bulls play Philly, the Nets, the Hawks, the Wizards, the Heat, the Magic and the Raptors. You should beat Philly and the Raptors at home, and probably the Hawks although it is in Atlanta and they have beaten some good teams at home there this season. Even if you just win those 2 games, you'll have 37 wins. Philly has no hope. They can't beat anyone right now. But we need them to beat you at the United Center in your next game. Can't see it happening though. Boston play the Nets twice, the Heat and the Cavs. Can't see them making it. We'll need to win our last 7 games, to finish up with 38 wins. Those games are at Miami, home vs. Atlanta, home vs. the Raps, the Spurs away, the 76ers at home, the Bulls at home and the Pacers away. Obviously, the Heat and Spurs are the tough ones there. Even if we lose one of those, and finish up on 37 games, we may still have a very small chance. Can't see it happening though. We need the Bulls to start losing to have any hope, and you've won 4 straight.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Could Gload be any worse in LF? We'll probably never know I say. Let's just hope Pablo doesn't make another stuffup in LF tonight. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Yea, I know. Its also the Royals. Guess we should of gotten rid of Freddy Garcia before last year's playoffs after he stunk it up versus the Royals right? -

Looks like Affledt hasn't found his control yet it's fair to say. -

Exactly the start we needed. -
And then Felix Rodriguez got chucked in the 8th for plunking LoDuca.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) Rowand in the 2-hole is barfalicious. The Phillies will learn to keep him at the bottom of their order sooner or later. Yeah he just strikes out way too much to be a good #2 hitter. But looking at the Phillies, do they really have many other options there? David Bell?

Widge gets his 1st start of the season today; Affeldt's had a lot of trouble with his command and walking a few guys in the past couple of seasons. Key word of the day for our hitters. PATIENCE. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) Duval is kinda stinking it up, per usual. Kinda sad how he just fell off. I remember cheering for him when everyone was cheering for Tiger. The Oakleys did it for me. Yeah Duval's slide has gotta be one of sport's greatest mysteries of recent times I would have thought. How can you go from #2 in the world to where he is now?

Really hasn't been a good time for a youth in the past few months in France has it.

So Vijay Singh out in front early. My man Adam Scott is around the mark at even par. Any predictions from anyone (e.g just Greasy cos he's the only other one who cares about golf ) on who's going to win?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) Well yeah they have struggled some in the 2nd half... but you cant use that 1 game vs the Magic against them lol . Maybe if Grant Hill comes back next season and you get a good player in the draft you can overpass them. No doubt talent wise, the Bucks are probably a better team than us. But Terry Stotts just isn't a very good coach in my opinion, which is why they've really gone downhill in the 2nd half. Guys like Bogut and Magliore should be dominating down low, and lately all they've been getting is 6 points / 6 boards per game from them. It's just 2 teams going in different directions right now. Also, we've got 2 home games coming up against Detroit and San Antonio. If we lose any one of those 2, our miniscule playoff hopes are down the drain.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Byrd is fine for a 4th-5th spot... basicly keeping it warm till one of their 3 prospects are ready. But yeah Johnson kind of sucks. I don't even know about Byrd. He's only struck out 181 hitters in the past 2 years (50 starts equals just above 3.5 hitters a game). And a few seasons ago, he gave up 36 homers. If he's not careful, if he goes back to his flyball ways, that ERA could jump. Johnson is just really not good. 6.66 ERA away from Comerica last season equals trouble.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) Love how the Sox are expanding their talent search. And that's exactly what they're going to have to do if they still want to have a pretty good farm system (and still be a very sucessful team at the MLB level, hence not going any high draft picks). Think outside the square a little, and get these guys from the Dominican Republic and Brazil. And so far, from what we've seen over the past couple of years, they're making some progress on this regard.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) Liotta is a sinker baller so a lack of strikeouts shouldn't really be a concern. He gets ground balls and can get a strikeout with his slider when necessary. Yeah so long as he keeps his ERA where it was last season in the higher levels, then it shouldn't be a problem.

For Easter I wouldn't be suprised if it went up to $1.45-$1.50 a litre down here (and believe me that's worse than $3 a gallon if you know your metric system).
-
I still have doubts on their offense. Weren't they the team with the least walks last season or something like that (having guys like Pudge who only had 10 BB's hardly helps)?
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) Mota was a highly thought of player with Dodgers, his arm has never been a question he was a big piece of the Penny trade, Clev did well getting Mota and Marte in Crisp deal. Well there's still questions on whether Mota can hold up for a whole season or not. If he pitches like he did setting up for the Dodgers though, the Indians pen suddenly becomes a WHOLE lot better. But I don't think Byrd or Johnson can do the job for them at the back end of the rotation either.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 07:22 AM) Devil Rays DL Julio Lugo; Release RHP Jesus Colome; Sign veteran INF Tomas Perez; Recall RHP Scott Dunn; Acquire RHP Marcos Carvajal from Seattle Excellent trade for Friedman and Hunsicker getting Carvajal. Tampa Bay may actually have the resemblance of a bullpen right now (and it would be better if Mori didn't get injured too).

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 07:56 AM) Scott Rolen is certainly looking as if he hasn't missed a beat. It's easy to forget that they basically won 100 games without him last year. With him back healthy, the NL central is pretty much spoken for. This guy was the #1 hitter in the the first half of 2004 for fantasy leagues, and I've been gettin him in about the 9th-10th round. Definitely an excellent value pick right there if his shoulder can hold up.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) Noah Lowry left the Giants game today after 1.2 innings. Yeah not good for the Giants, he was argubly their best pitcher in the 2nd half last season.
