And yet the team we'd all love besides the Cubs to have their closer struggling, which has pretty much never happened over the past few seasons (which helps explain a part of their dominance in this division), the Minnesota Twins. And with Jesse Crain in their ranks, I don't think it'll be happening for a long time yet.

QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) I predict the Sox will start the season 3-1, with Buehrle and Duque getting wins in that mix... Looking at your sig, I predict that Neal Cotts gets a beard.

Jaret Wright is the mid 2000's version of Mike Hampton, if there's such a thing.
-
And really it's a good time to be winning, considering we've been playing teams out of our division so far. Let's keep up the good work.
-
All in all, it's way too early to know what's going to happen with Crede. Personally I thought if he struggled the Sox may try to go after Joe Randa, but with the way he's hitting at the moment, he ain't going to come cheaply. Fields won't be ready until late next season at the earlies IMHO. His control of the strike zone still needs a lot of work, as does his fielding at 3rd. Let's not rush him like we did with another prospect, and we all know how that turned out.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) what if LA trades Kobe for some picks and signs lebron to the max? Chucky Atkins said it best; "Kobe Bryant is the GM". They won't trade Bryant. And who could they trade Kobe and his max contract to? They'd have to get a player back at least to make it work cap wise.

Not hype. (But Charles Rosen would tell you otherwise). Look at this Cleveland team. Drew Gooden doesn't play defense and is as soft as a hot knife slicing through butter. Ilgaulskas is one of the better centers in the league, and really only LeBron's real help. Jeff McInnis won't be back, and he's a cancer. Eric Snow is too old and injury prone to be a starting point guard. They have hardly any good bench players except when Tractor Traylor plays well, honestly with all the turmoil that team's gone through, it's amazing they're still over .500. Now let's look at James, the guy can play 3 positions in the NBA if he wants, depending on match-ups, and better players in other positions. Personally if I was Cleveland, I'd move him back to PG, but I don't think they're going to do that. Defensively he's got things to work on, but that'll come in time. And to all those who think he's going to bolt to Lakerland, answer me this question. Would you want to play with Kobe Bryant?

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) I agree. the only thing they have right is the #6 seed would have home court if they have a better record than the # 3 . Boston would be 5th 6th or 7th seed if things were done right. Boston is not the team Chicago wants to play 1st round. On their day, the Celtics can beat anyone is this league, and they've got multiple options. They're my sleeper team in the East.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) No way chicago plays .500 basketball No way they have a winning record in Feb No way They they go on 5 , 7, and 9 game winning streaks this year No way they dont have a losing record vs the west No way they they win without deng No way they get homecourt in the 1st round No way they reach the 3rd best record in the conference Book it. Oh Wait........................... When did I ever say that? You guys struggled to beat us when we were missing Hill, Turkoglu, Chrisite and DeClercq, even though you guys are missing Curry and Deng. Let's look at the comparisons here. PG - Chris Duhon vs. Chauncey Billups vs. Dwayne Wade. Wade wins by a country mile, Billups in 2nd and Duhon in 3rd. SG - Kirk Hinrich vs. Rip Hamilton vs. Daryl Jones Hamilton gets my vote because he's taller, scores more, and is a better rebounder. Hinrich in a close 2nd, with Jones bringing up the rear. SF - Andres Nocioni vs. Tayshuan Prince vs. Eddie Jones Prince wins this easily. One of the best defensive SF's in the game, plus he's dramatically improved his scoring. Jones comes in 2nd, with Nocioni in last. PF - Antonio Davis vs. Rasheed Wallace vs. Udonis Haslem Wallace wins this for Detroit, one of the best turnaround jumpers in the game, and has real fitted in nicely with the Pistons. Haslem comes in 2nd, because he's a double - double threat every night, with Davis in last. C - Eddy Curry vs Ben Wallace vs. Shaquille O' Neal O' Neal wins this, because he's the most dominant big man in the game at his best. Wallace in 2nd because he's the best defensive big man in the game, and Curry in last, because he sucks at everything else other than scoring. Bench Chicago wins this easily with Gordon and Tyson Chandler alone. Detroit in 2nd with the capable backup options in the likes of Carlos Arroyo and Carlos Delfino with Miami in last. What does this all mean? Well a lot of you think you guys can beat Detroit in a playoff series because of what's happened in the regular season. I look at it this way. They're coming into form at the right time again. Rip Hamilton will post up on Kirk Hinrich all day long, and be able to score 20+ points reguarly. If the 2 Wallace's, can stop Chandler getting rebounds, and Delfino does his job defending Gordon off the bench, I can't see Chicago winning. They have too many scoring options for mine. Against the Heat, well Miami have Shaq and Wade, and that's going to be too much, and I think any reasonable Bulls fan is probably going to be able to see that.

QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) Da Bulls are going places, and Ben Gordon will lead us there. Oh, and David Stern is rooting for us too, and that was stated on Sports Nite. No way Chicago beats Miami or Detroit in a 7 game series. Book it.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) That make 4 quality starts in for 4 games. As far as starting pitching goes, so far so good. That's really going to be the difference in determining whether the Sox are on the golf course in October or actually playing baseball still.

QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Does everyone realize that we're the biggest market in the playoffs this year? It's not going to matter.

James. They need a good DE to pair with Leonard Little since Wistrom left.
-
Once again I'll say good luck to Mitch Kupchak trying to recruit Yao Ming and Amare Stoudemire in the future.
-
El Duque and Contreras have silenced the doubters, until their next performance at least, but the signs are good. Everett, Konerko and Dye are producing in the heart of the lineup, now we need Crede and Uribe down the bottom to break out of theur slumps, albeit it is still extremely early.

Charlotte lost to Columbus 7-2. Jamie Burke had 2 hits, Borch had a double, and Brian Anderson homered again. Ben Davis also had 2 hits. Josh Stewart gave up 1 ER and had 5 K's. Kevin Walker took the loss giving up 2 ER, as did Matt Smith and David Sanders. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...colaaa_chraaa_1 Birmingham lost to Jacksonville 10-5. Gonzalez had 3 hits, and although the box score said Angel, it might have been Andy, I'm not too sure on that. Darren Blakely homered, and Josh Fields had 2 RBI's, and also drew a walk which is good to see. Owens and Young both stole a base, they're hitting 1 and 2 in the lineup. Sean Tracey gave up 3 ER, had 4 BB's and 3 K's. Reynoso had a weird outing, giving up 0 ER but 3 BB's and 2 K's. Corwin Malone took the loss giving up 3 ER, while Bobby Jenks was even worse as he gave up 4 ER, but had 2 K's. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...colaaa_chraaa_1 Winston - Salem lost to Kinston 5-1. Wes Whisler started and had a good outing only giving up 2 ER, with 1 BB and 5 K's. Schnurstein was the only Warthog hitter to hav an RBI, while Leo Daigle was the runner that scored. Travis Hinton went hitless, so he didn't start the season in B-Ham. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...wswafx_kinafx_1 Kanny lost to Asheville 5-0. Matthew Hansen had the start and gave up 3 ER. Francisco Hernandez recorded his 1st hit of the season, while Adam Ricks went hitless at 3B. Clint King was 1 for 3 in the DH spot. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...ashafx_kanafx_1

El Duque with 64 pitches after 4 innings, this rate he's probably good for 6 innings, so we'll need the pen again tonight. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) mark my words, A-row is standing too far from the plate,. And pitchers are definitely going to go low and away with him if that's the case. -

Cuddyer on 2nd, with Rivas on 1st with 0 outs. This could get dangerous.
