  1. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) have to say that #50 for the jets should be very thankful they won after he f***ed up at end of regulation giving the chargers the ball back... That would be Eric Barton. Man o' man was he lucky the J-E-T-S pulled out a win in this one otherwise he would have been screwed.
  2. The Marlins are realy desperate for a left handed power hitter, some reports have said they've offered a 1 year deal to Delgado while others have said they have offered him a 3 year deal. Cotts and Harris alone won't be enough, probably a prospect or 2 not named Anderson, Sweeney or McCarthy might have to be thrown in, but I'd be all for a deal for Castillo instead of someone like Ray Durham.
  3. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) Where the f*** is RedandWhite to tell me that Doc Rivers is so much better at coaching than Jim O'Brien??? Here's DBAH0 to tell ya how Johnny Davis is so much better than Doc Rivers.
  4. A.J also GIDP a lot. So I wouldn't consider him to be a #2 hitter. Uribe, Rowand or Iguchi if signed would be far better options.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) Damn. I'm sorry to hear that. But with Boras as his agent, it was expected. Going into today the Astros thought they had a real chance, and now the owner says he wasn't re-signed because of a "minor sticking point" (see thread in sports bar).
  6. Wow I'd be pissed as an Astros fan right about now;
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) What events? Beltran rejecting Houston's final offer before tonight's arbitration deadline.
  8. QUOTE(LDF @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) oops my bad and thanks for the correction. damn it hard to remember all the bone head trades that kw has done. however he has done well this offseason. And he's needed to. His job would have been on the line without some success this season, at least things seem to have gone our way this off-season compared to the market and other team's moves.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) I remember a people basically calling othella a piece of s*** a while back. Things seem to have changed. After 1 friggin game. Puh-lease.
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) I wouldn't bet on that point of view. He may not sign with the Cubs, but I doubt that "respect for Sox fans" figures into the equation. That'd be the last thing on Bora$$ mind as evidenced by the events of tonight.
  11. Buerhle for obvious reasons, and Damaso Marte. I still have faith he can get back to his 2002-2003 form, and get most of his stuff back. He had a pretty dead arm for most of 2004.
  12. QUOTE(LDF @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) my point is were we even in the running for miller, i never heard a word of kw pursuing him and i think he should have. as you said miller is worth the money invested. that is my point and i do know that boston sign him. read the other post where the other guy mention signing miller was way too expensive. now do you understand what i am saying? KW almost traded Carlos Lee for Wade Miller. Instead it's ended up being Scott Podsednik, Luis Vizcaino, A.J Pierzynski and Orlando Hernandez for El Caballo.
  13. You can have Ray Durham, Tadahito Iguchi, Rob Machowiak or Alex Cora.
  14. I think it's more likely Adkins would be dealt before Politte but of course it would depend on the return.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Yeah, the Bulls will have a lot of flexability this upcoming offseason. The Nocioni signing is starting to piss me off, well Nocioni is starting to piss me off. Once the guy learns English I'm sure he'll improve. Can't expect him to come into the NBA and produce straight away. At least the Bulls have a 9 man rotation and most guys seem to be doing their job.
  16. If the Bulls didn't sign Noc, I'm sure they probably would have gone after Turk a little more. They could go a lot of ways with the mid level exception next off-season though. A backup big man, a spot up shooter off the bench, a backup guard for Kirk.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) If the Sox handle things right though, they will be able to spell Ray with a platoon guy and that should be alright. Personally I think its a great move as long as they don't give up Marte. I think thats probably a little too much, unless they get something else in return that could help them out of the pen. But budget wise, they could basically afford to add Durham's entire contract but no way in hell would I give up Marte for him and take on that big contract. On a sidenote, Durham is under contract at roughly 6.5 this year and the following year is an option year. Personally though I think Iguchi would pretty much put up the same amount of numbers as Durham, and he wouldn't miss as many games. You could backload the contract, and you wouldn't possibly have to give up Marte or prospects. Plus it would give Valdez the chance to go back down to Charlotte for him to get more at bats.
  18. Following on with Hammer's thread about the most improved player, I'd thought I would start a thread about who everyone thought the best and worst off-season free agent signings were. For me, Hedo Turkoglu would be the best value wise. For the mid - level exception, he's averaging 13.4 points, 3.5 boards and shooting really well from the perimeter. Bob Sura, Eddie Griffin and Lee Nailon are others that come to mind. The worst off-season free agent signing would have to be Adonal Foyle and his 6 year $40 million deal,.
  19. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Last time I checked Iguchi has no major league experience. Durham is a little bit more proven. I could see us taking on up to 4 Mil a year for Durham just because he has proven himself when healthy. No way should Iguchi be given 4 mil a year until he has proven something. Durham's a lock to miss some games though. And Iguchi has hit over .330 in his last 2 seasons in a pitcher's park. It's more of a risk, but I think the potential reward of Iguchi would outweigh Durham, but that's just me.
  20. I'm pretty sure Steff has said that Durham wouldn't like to return to the Sox because of what has happened in the past. No way should we acquire Durham for Marte though, Neal Cotts would be the best lefty in the pen if that happened. Frankly why not just sign Iguchi or Cora instead, which would be much easier, although it ain't likely Iguchi will be here in 2005.
  21. If the Bears want a WR they can have Koren Robinson or Antonio Bryant.
  22. Can you imagine Kotex Boy writing for a team like the Tampa Bay Devil Rays or Pitssburgh Pirates.
  23. Rowand would probably be the best option, but he could be more valuable hitting 6 or 7 in the order, pretty sure the Sox had a really favorable record when he hit in those spots last season. If Uribe can hit for a high enough average, I say we stick him in #2 and put A-Row down at 6 or 7.
  24. Green for Navarro back on?
