If Dwight gets Bogut into foul trouble often enough, that could be an interesting series. Warriors should win in 5-6 though. I think Daryl Morey is pretty glad that he didn't match that Chandler Parsons poison pill deal also, has worked out very well for em bringing in Smith, Ariza and Brewer instead.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 16, 2015 -> 12:34 PM) Woj talked about this today, there is something in the CBA that prevents the teams from doing a side deal as compensation, the teams cannot have a player deal for like a year or something. Right, I thought that would probably be the case after the Doc Rivers scenario a couple of seasons back. I think Thibs ends up with the Pelicans when it's all said and done, simply because they have Anthony Davis. If they have to trade one of their players for a 1st in this year's draft to get him, I think that'd be a price they'd be willing to pay.

QUOTE (scs787 @ May 16, 2015 -> 07:48 AM) He's got a bad track record, but he's also had some bad teams. I like that he's coached under Dantoni and Kerr, so I'm assuming he would emplement a faster pace, which is what I really want to see them do. Reading LMA and Wes Matthews wanna be a package deal. Somehow trade Noah and Taj, sign those 2 guys, end scene. I think he needs a top defensive assistant coach, but if he could bring that as part of the package, I think he'd do a pretty solid job. His reputation has been re-built I suppose being part of the Warriors.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 16, 2015 -> 07:48 AM) No, players cannot be involved in a deal for a coach, only picks You'd somehow have to do 2 seperate deals I guess if that makes any sense. There's no way Orlando gives up a top 5 pick for Thibs, maybe a future 1st, but Hennigan is very big on building through the draft. With Harris as well, it depends on how much you're going to pay him. I don't think he's worth a MAX deal (I'd rather Winslow or Stanley Johnson in the draft unless we get the top pick), but a team like the Knicks or Lakers might offer him the MAX, so Orlando might not match. If Thibs went to Orlando though, I could definitely see them going after Gibson, he's exactly what they need in terms of a 4 to play next to Vucevic. Could probably do a trade deal with someone like Kyle O'Quinn if the Bulls wanted a 4/5 back who is younger and cheaper and a similar sort of player perhaps.

On Thibs, I could see the Pelicans definitely giving up a 1st rounder for him, but I'm not sure if Orlando would. But it depends for Gar/Pax whether they think there's a better coach (well one who would work with them any better) out there. Fred Hoiberg has obviously been mooted, but it's a risk with College Coach although they are becoming more and more "trendy hires" with Donovan and Stevens as 2 examples. Gasol's injury really became a killer blow for the Bulls in the end, I think if he had stayed healthy, the likelihood of there being a 7 game series would have been much greater.

What are the odds on a last second Mirotic 3 here.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 12:34 PM) Dayum, the Hawks are legit. Korver 6-7 from 3's. Really I think you can make a case for him and Horford to be All-Stars this season. Budenholzer's Offensive System is a thing of beauty ATM, when it's getting executed as well as this.

Vucevic actually reminds me of a younger version of Pau in a way, but that dunk showed he's got more athleticism currently. Oladipo was probably the difference tonight, he's streaky as hell as a shooter.

I only ever seem to pop up in this thread or the NBA Thread nowadays, but I'm heading to Japan for 10 days in early November. Looking for recommendations just in terms of places to see, restaurants to eat etc. if anyone has ever been. So far the itinerary planned is Tokyo, Fukuoka, Miyazaki, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Osaka.

Krygios reminds me so much of a young Goran Ivanisevic. Decent chance he'll be top 20 by this point next year though, just needs to keep improving his fitness, because he already has the power game on the serve and groundstrokes by this point. Apparently Murray told his box to F*** Off during the Dimitrov loss, so something is definitely going on there. Whoever wins b/w Bouchard and Halep will win the Womens.

Jason Kidd's insecurities as a person are really quite fascinating. If the Nets can get some sort of future 1st rounder as part of that deal, and can hire Lionel Hollins as a replacement, I'd be all over that.

Affalo gets traded for a 3rd scoring guard off the bench, we pass on Exum to select a wannabee Blake Griffin, and then trade a future 1st to move up 2 spots. Not a good day to be a Magic fan.... I thought Utah did very well getting Exum and Hood, and although Philly didn't get any immediate help, they keep stockpiling a lot of future assets.

Few more blurbs;

Few blurbs going around that Orlando is offering the #4, #12 + Affalo for the #1 pick. Wonder if Cleveland would prefer that over a #5 + Favors + Burke offer. Embiid going down with an injury has really hurt Orlando in terms of not getting a top guy slipping to em at 4, I'd say it's likely Exum is snagged by Philly at #3 now, and Orlando probably don't think Smart or Vonleh is really worth it at #4, and with Elfrid Payton likely to be a top 10 pick now, they might not have anyone they like at #12 either.

http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-am-l...-draft-edition/ I think I'd prefer the 9th + a player than to get the 16th + 19th for Affalo. Depends on if a Marcus Smart type of player falls down that far though I suppose.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 12:01 PM) I tend to agree. Looking at your depth chart, how do you guys feel about Harris/Harkless? Any interest in Butler and one of the picks? I'm sure you guys would really like Taj but I'd be hesitant to make that deal. Right now it looks like the Magic will draft Vonleh at 4 (unless Exum gets passed the Bucks and Philly) and Elfrid Payton at 12. Gibson would be exactly the type of PF the Magic need. It's whether Orlando would want to take on that sort of contract. I don't think we'd want to bring another SF at this stage. In terms of Harris vs. Harkless, I prefer Harkless as a better long - term prospect, he reminds me of a rawer version of Kawhi Leonard at this stage of his career. Harris can give you instant offense, but not much else, falls a bit too much in love with the mid - range jumper.

I don't think the #16 plus non guaranteed deals is going to get it done for Affallo, the guy was almost an All - Star this season. Think the Bulls would have to package up both their 1st rounders to get something done here.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 07:28 PM) Rooney better show up against Uruguay or his fate as a World Cup disappointment will be forever sealed. Wouldn't hold my breath there. I think with his body physique, he hit his peak at around 26, he's 28 now. I don't think we'll see him in 2018 either.
-
Pretty happy with how Australia has gone so far even though we are pointless. New manager, young squad, think we'll be better in Russia 2018, so long as we don't get the Group of Death again. Fun random stat though, Timmy Cahill has more World Cup Goals than Ronaldo, Messi and Rooney combined.

Suddnely wonder if Cleveland becomes a viable option for Lebron all over again. I don't think he can win another title in Miami with Wade, especially if Wade takes another max deal / opts in. Wade's knees are at the point where he plays more like a 35YO rather than a 32YO. Lebron would have Irving and Embiid as sidekicks, not saying they'd win a title next season, but in the East, that's probably at least a top 3 team with the right coach. Patty Mills probably earned himself a Barea-Light contract with his play this off-season as well, probably makes a lot of sense as an instant scorer / 3rd guard off the bench who can knock down the 3.

Stosur could be a chance, but she'll probably bottle a 5-1 lead in the 3rd set at somepoint.......
-
Muguruza's prob gonna be a top 10 player within the next 12 months. I'd prob put my money on a claycourt specialist like Halep if I had to, but the Women's draw is such a crapshoot at best.....

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 21, 2014 -> 10:45 PM) So Sacramento is picking 8th? drat. Not a real obvious chance that'll knock them out of the lottery next year. They're looking to trade that pick, and Charlotte potentially also at #9. Arron Affalo would make some sense, for Charlotte especially. If anything, Sacramento really needs to find a defensive frontcourt piece to put next to DeMarcus Cousins. I almost see em where Portland was a season ago, Portland desperately needed a defensive big to put next to Aldridge, and they got Robin Lopez. Wonder if the Kings would look at Varejao maybe (doubt he's worth the 8th pick though). That all being said, I don't see the Kings having any chance of making the playoffs in the West next season.
-
Well Orlando is probably going to end up with Dante Exum now, and that makes me happy. An Exum-Oladipo backcourt would be pretty fun to watch for the next 5-10 years. Unless Hennigan is still giddy over Marcus Smart, with Noah Vonleh being the wild-card after the combine results he had.
