  1. So I'm back in Chicago for the weekend, are there are good food places / restaraunts around the McCormick Park area (as that's where I'm staying).
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:58 AM) He might. He seemingly wants to be THE guy. Yep, but as the past few seasons have shown, you need to put specific talent around him to be successful. I don't know if I can see him winning a championship without a "Chris Paul" playing alongside him.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:37 AM) That'll teach them! I think you've actually found an outcome for the Magic that would be worse than "landing" Brook Lopez. Not a fan of Lopez at all, think I'd rather Lowry over him.
  4. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:37 AM) And he refuses to sign an extension, which either kills the deal (see the original Favors offer for Melo) or he signs with Brooklyn anyways. Houston is so desperate for a big name, they'd be willing to take that chance. And they actually think Hakeem Olajuwon could convicne Dwight to stick around long - term. Would Dwight sign in Brooklyn if Deron bolted for Dallas?
  5. They do that, we'll trade him to Houston for Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin, Sam Dalembert and picks I'd imagine.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 01:48 AM) Yeah, but what I was saying is if I can draft Anthony Davis, I'm not trading that pick to get Dwight. Also, Dwight won't re-sign with any of those teams. The only chance of a deal like this happening is if Brooklyn winds up in the top 3 (as stated in the article). Brooklyn, of course, would trade the #1 pick to get Dwight, because they'd also be ensuring that Deron stays, which is worth any draft pick. Yeah if you're Charlotte, you're not trading that pick for Dwight even if you could and would give that franchise some actual credibility. All I'm hoping is that out of this, we can come out as well as Denver did when they traded Melo. Get good young players and picks with cap friendly contracts, that's easier said than done though of course. But say the Nets get the #1 pick, and they trade for Dwight and they re-sign Gerald Wallace. How much of a contender is a Deron, Farmar?, Wallace, Lopez and Howard lineup in the East next season?
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:40 AM) Anything past #1 - Dwight time. That's instant NBA relevance for the bottom feeders. I would not trade the rights to Anthony Davis if I'm a rebuilding team that sucked enough to get the #1 pick - then it's Davis all the way and you hope you struggle enough in his rookie season to draft another stud with him. And I could certainly see that happen with the Magic. Especially if Nelson opts out and moves somewhere else, and also Ryan Anderson (although I think it's likely Orlando re-signs him unless someone offers him more than 11M a season, then it gets interesting). If you move Dwight, you've got to move the likes of Redick etc., players with actual value, and just go for a complete rebuild IMO. Davis is going to take 2-3 seasons to develop at least (similiar to Dwight's career path really).
  8. Here we go again; http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--nets-nee...GhvcgRwb3MDMQRz Actually hoping the Nets somehow get the #1 pick. Davis + Brooks + Morrow + future 1st for Dwight would do me just fine I think, although we'd probably try to put Hedo's or J-Rich's contract into the deal also.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 12, 2012 -> 05:31 AM) Honestly, after all the theatrics, do you really think Dwight to Chicago is a good idea? I'm thinking that if the Lakers lose to Denver in Game 7, the Dwight for Bynum + something else rumors are really going to amp up again this off-season. The only 2 scenarios I can see Dwight sticking around (exyending his contract) at this point are; 1 - Orlando go out and hire Phil Jackson. They pay SVG 4.5M a season, so paying 10M a season for Phil isn't a huge stretch. 2 - They hire D'Antoni and convince Steve Nash to come play for a couple of seasons.

    QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 5, 2012 -> 08:20 PM) Game of Thrones character. And this will sum him up;
  11. Looking for a decent / cheapish place to stay in Chicago over the June 8 - June 11 weekend (besides the Hostel International), does anyone have any potential recommendations?
  12. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 6, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) I see they have Game of Thrones coming out for most systems.. I will be very interested in checking that one out. 101 different ways to kill Joffrey? (hopefully).....
  13. It's really very difficult to have a rookie start at LT from the get go. Tyron Smith is a perfect example, got taken pick #9, played all season at RT, and was the 3rd-4th best tackle in the NFL last season according to Pro Football Weekly. Don't think he could have produced that starting at LT (but he'll be playing there this season).
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2012 -> 10:39 PM) A lot of people felt this Knicks team would struggle to blend two selfish superstars who didn't play defense. I think at least Donnie Walsh was targeting the right sort of players when he was in charge, before Dolan made him give up the farm. Iman Shumpert is "exactly" the sort of player you need to put alongside Carmelo though. Someone who can actually play good man on man defense, and not shoot more than 5 times a game. But when you've got J.R Smith shooting 15 times off the bench, Baron Davis can jack it up whenever he wants, well there's only 1 basketball on the court.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 2, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Yes it is, J4L. They played the exact same way last season when Carmelo came to the Knicks. Melo and Amare just do not work well together, their games offset each other, and it drags their numbers down. Everyone got all worked up about Lin, and what happened? He came back to earth and the Knicks went right back to being the .500 team that they have been since Melo has been there. It is a huge combination of players that simply do not know how to work together. I wonder how Greg Popovich would go coaching the Knicks currently actually.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) That's because he's fat and his vertical is lower than Luc Longley's. Apparently he's even put on weight this season if you could believe that. One of the Magic beat writers tweeted that he overheard a Magic assistant coach saying he's gone from 290 lbs to 317 lbs now.
  17. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) Is Deng planning on playing hurt until the end of next year with the Olympics this offseason? Or is he getting surgery after the Olympics and missing the beginning of next year? With Rose out we cannot afford to have him gone for the beginning of next year as well. He needs to seriously consider skipping the Olympics for the good of the team if so. I don't think you can begrudge him not being able to play in the Olympics in his home country. Most guys in the NBA would take that pretty personally today IMO.
  18. Roy Hibbert has 9 blocks. Big Baby's awfully easy to block in the interior.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 07:27 AM) The Quinton Coples dropping to the Bears thing at 19 seems to be gaining some steam, but who knows. Seems very likely they go with best d-linemen available, whether its Coples, Poe, Brockers, Mercilus, Cox, Ingram. It also looks like they might have their choice of OL and WR too. If Floyd is there, it'd be hard for them to pass him up, and it seems pretty obvious they like Kendall Wright. Looks possible that Jonathan Martin is there too. It'll be very interesting to see how this plays out. Ideally, DL/OL/WR/TE, if you get 3 of those in the first 3 rounds, I like it. I think a lot depends on what the Jets do at 16. Do they trade up for Ingram or take Coples at 16? I'd love the Cowboys to get Fletcher Cox, but it sounds like he's going at #6 to the Rams now. Think we'll go Mark Barron if the Pats don't trade up to 12-13 to nab him. Mercilus I think will probably be the guy for the Bears. The WR class is really deep this year, so the Bears can afford to go that route in Round 2 or 3 instead really.

    New York City

    As a tourist, LA is a nightmare to get around compared to New York. I love New York simply for the fact you can probably get to where you want to go within 30 mins. Compare that to other major cities in the world such as London etc. and it's not possible.
  21. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Yes! Lock Best Wrestling Related Chant Ever;
  22. Dempsey to Arsenal rumors are starting to heat up. Would be a good fit for him, but it'd be a shame for him to leave Fulham, think they've both made the other party a lot better as a result of their time together.
  23. What are everyone's thoughts on Boston right now?
  24. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Jesus christ is Kevin Love overrated. I'll be honest, I was expecting someone to post something similiar about Dwight Howard today (Magic won by 34 without him). Big Baby has actually looked pretty decent in the past week somehow. Think today's game as Felix will tell you shows how much Minny miss Rubio as a distributor also.
