  1. Yeah I took a break for a while but am slowly starting to get back into the Soxtalk groove (although it's mainly the NBA Thread nowadays).....
  2. DeMarcus Cousins is a bit of fools gold to me. His Usage Rate is Off the Charts and he's only shooting 43% for the season, which for a big man is terrible. Now in the right system and with the right players around him, he's an All - Star, but if you ask him to carry your team, you're going to end up like Sacramento and in mediocrity for a number of years.
  3. Would have been nice to have kept Johnny Oduya around now. Q seems to have pretty high standards when it comes to Defenseman, it's been a real revolving door over the years besides the top 3-4.
  4. And the Bucks of all teams, yeesh. Well when MCW goes 70% from the field, it's definitely not your night. On the Bulls, I think they'll definitely make a move before the deadline, they look pretty sluggish currently. As for who'd they target I'm not sure, if they want an upgrade for a stretch 4 over Mirotic, Ryan Anderson is probably the best available. I just think they're sort of stuck in a holding pattern until Rose inevitably moves on when his contract finishes. Otherwise maybe you trade Gasol for a guaranteed 1st and reload for next season potentially.
  5. Bournemouth about to beat Chelsea and Man Utd in back to back weeks....
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) I need one of you negative miserable posters to tell me how this is a bad move. One! Please! So I can laugh at you and talk about you to my entire family as you personally being a representative for all negative moronic Soc fans that are impossible to please. this is a bad move shipps.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) I think he's shooting as good as Dougie (or was as of like a game ago). Something like 45%. Yeah I just saw him on NBA League Pass, he's ranked 2nd in 3PT% entering tonight at 47%, even ahead of Steph Curry, how crazy is that.
  8. At least we made it interesting towards the end I suppose. But man we were ugly for 3QTS. I think the Magic have to end up trying to bring in a star of some sort by offering Vucevic and their 1st rounder to bring in a bonafide star at centre.
  9. Yeah the Mavs did well there, I'll be interested to see how he gets along with Carlisle though.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 05:38 AM) Hard to imagine we'd have anything that would be workable in that deal. We'd have to include a matching salary which is ok but then also give the Kings something they'd actually want in addition. Unless Snell or McDermott have incredible starts to the year, what major tradeable asset do we have? The Kings pick that we probably won't get? Would you trade Mirotic + Taj + Snell/Portis/Mcdermott for him, probably and that matchup works payroll wise, but doubt the Kings would do that? Mirotic would definitely have to be involved. I think in a potential 3 team deal where the Bulls say give up 2 future firsts for a good player on a rebuilding team to then give to Sacramento, it maybe becomes workable.
  11. I sort of wonder if the Bulls would look at Cousins if he became available, but whether he'd be a good fit under Hoiberg and what trade package they could offer is another matter entirely.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 03:16 AM) The Bucks owner is talking about moving. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basket...egas-or-seattle Seattle should really be first in line when it comes to relocation assuming they can get the arena situation sorted themselves. Vegas is interesting though, obviously the whole sports betting piece is still an issue though.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) can you explain to me, why would the lakers are looking to dump salary. their salary as of today for next season is 35+ mil. according to hoop rumor team salaries. That wouldn't be correct. Kobe's on $25M for starters, if they acquire Hibbert, he has a $2.5M trade kicker added to his contract also, so he makes about $15-$16M I think. Lou Williams is getting $7M a season, Russell probably about $3.5M to start on his rookie contract, Randle about $2.5M. So then you have Nick Young on $5.2M, and you can see where I'm getting at.......
  14. They're trying to trade Swaggy P, he's on $5.2M a season, they just gave Lou Williams 3/21, Brandon Bass just signed there also. I could see Young ending up in Philly potentially, if the Lakers can't find a taker, would probably have to attach a pick of some sort though as well.
  15. Rumors going around that Jason Kidd is apparently going to become the GM of the Milwaukee Bucks. He'll be after Adam Silver's job next.....
  16. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) Shifting gears to the Blazers, they are completely f***ed in the ass in the offseason. They have now lost Wes Mathews, Affalo, Lopez, Batum, and now Aldridge. It wouldn't be fun in Rip City next season watching Lillard jack up 30 shots a game. That's 4 starters from a starting 5 leaving in the one off-season. Has that ever happened before?
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) Hard to complain about Dunleavy contract now CJ Watson just got a very similar contract to that from Orlando as well. I think the Bulls should probably see what Jameer Nelson is after if they're still keen on a backup PG.
  18. Tobias Harris re-signs with Orlando for 64/4. I think that's an overpay, but with the salary cap going up and all, and he's only 22 and still has a lot of room to grow. Orlando wanted to get Millsap and would have done a sign and trade with Atlanta including Harris, but once that didn't get done, they just had to re-sign Harris. And that contract should still be very tradeable 2 seasons from now.
  19. I'd be looking over at Bob Melvin as a possible candidate, depending on how the A's finish the season in the standings. I think Bud Black deserves another opportunity somewhere, not sure that will be with us though. I think everyone is on the same page though that ideally it should be someone with experience and good with Sabermetrics.
  20. Wes Matthews is signing with Dallas so the Kings have struck out there even though they offered 4/65.
  21. Very surprised the Lakers are getting a 2nd interview with Aldridge as well, considering the first one went so badly. Apparently Kupchak and Byron Scott are going to be attending this one though, but uh maybe they should have ya know been at the first one, instead of the Lakers just selling how much money LA could make on outside endorsements as their main pitch? I couldn't see Bosh and Aldridge co-existing in Miami either, I think Phoenix is the wild-card team, they dumped salary to Detroit, so they have the cap room now.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 12:17 AM) a buddy of mine texted me that Oladipo is lining up for a 5/145M max contract next season with the new money. That is just silly That's why the Bulls should be very glad they got Butler extended for under $100M. Oladipo knows he's pretty much the Franchise Guy with Orlando, but is he worth Max Money yet, no absolutely not. Will be interesting to see what happens there.
  23. Fools Gold with Kanter for mine though, seems like a Cancer, and he's just so bad defensively. And LOL at giving Kyle Singler 5/25 BTW. Also the Knicks have actually signed someone, Aaron Affallo for 2/16. That's actually a pretty good deal in this market.
  24. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:04 PM) I'm hoping to see a few of the younger guys play today. Reece Oxford in particular as he's supposedly the most promising one coming through the academy at present. Though with it being Bilic's first game in charge he'll probably play it fairly safe. Think I saw a lineup where him and Burke are starting which is good.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 01:17 AM) I hear Arsenal's interested in bringing him in to pair with Alexis. That would be a good change for him IMO. I don't think he's good enough for Arsenal though. QPR were just a mess of a team last season, he probably needs to go to a mid table team like Stoke or somewhere if he wants to stay in the Premier League, just to get some consistent playing time more than anything. West Ham are already starting their season tonight as well, we're playing some Andorran team in the 1st Qualifying Round of the Europa League, think it's one of the shortest breaks any team has ever had for an off-season.
