Comeback players of the year
White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko's rebound from a .234 average with 18 home runs and 65 RBIs in 2003 to .277, 41 and 117 in 2004 won him the AL honor.
I think after the last 2 season Zito's had, you wouldn't say he's the better out of the 3 at all. Plus we have our own version of Barry Zito in the minors, Giovani Gonzalez.
I don't see the A's wanting to lose Rhodes. Granted he sucked as a closer this season, but if they lose Bradford, they'll need help in the bullpen. Rhodes can setup for Dotel anyways, and that's when he's pitched his best, setting up. Lee would definitely fit for them though, but we'll need more to get Hudson. I'm thinking Cotts and Harris added to the deal AT LEAST.
No doubt the Yankees will try to acquire Hudson if they can't get RJ. Out of the big 3, Hudson's probably been the most consistent, although I think more people may probably want Mulder. The A's wouldn't mind acquiring Lee, and possibly Willie Harris as they have a hole at 2B. Ross Gload could appeal to them as well, if they could ship out Durazo for some relief pitching if they lose Bradford.
This from Ken Rosenthal's Inside Dish,
Millar wouldn't be bad guy to look at for first base or the outfield if Lee or Konerko are moved. Witesoxfan has suggested Jose Guillen from the Angels, but I don't think he would fit into the clubhouse like D'Angelo Jimenez did. Millar went .297 with 18 HR's and 74 RBI's this season.
We should do a mid - season postseason prediction thread, and have a look at the differences between our thoughts now and what they were at the start of the season. Certainly been a lot of suprises which is what makes the NFL so great (unless you're a Bills, Bears or Dolphins fan).
