A case of Horrible Money Management for 1 MLB Team
DBAHO replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Not unless then Rockies pay at least 30 to 40% of his remaining contract, then I'll think bout it. -
Man I'm not gonna get even close to that list if I study over there next year.
-
No way Beltre is coming here, some team will be stupid enough to offer a big contract in free agency and pay for it. Plus he's a Boras client, so it's a no go there. Corey Koskie or Bill Mueller is probably more likely at 3rd. Anyway we can get Pierre on the Southside for the right price, it's a must do deal. Florida's going to have some major holes to fill, and if Mike Lowell leaves in free agency, they could use Joe Crede to replace him perhaps. Plus they'll want some bullpen help as well.

Ahh the old Barry / Berry trade. KW thought he was gettin a young propsect, and instead, I think he wound up with a 32 year old outfielder. I think we might hav got another prospect but correct me if I'm wrong.

I ain't buying or selling, I'm waiting. Look Garland has all the talent in the world. Late 2002, him and Dan Wright really came round at the end of the year, and we all thought he was taking the next step. He can wow you with 1 performance like last year's at Fenway, and annoy the hell out of ya with another, like today's against the Tribe. My thoughts are we keep him for another season, and bump him down to the #5 spot, and sign a bonafide #1 or #2 starter in the off-season. He'll hav less pressure on his shoulders at the bottom of the rotation, and all we'll need from him is to win 10 to 12 games down there.

You think Colorado is going to hand out big contracts for overpaid veterans again, I think not. And for those who want us to sign Beltran or Drew to massive deals, here's proof that it doesn't pay off if you don't hav a big payroll like the Yankees. -
Santana and Radke are the key for them. If they both can pitch at their best during the post season, I'm going out on a limb and as much as it pains me to say it, I think the Twinkies can win the whole thing, IF, they don't play the Yankees 1st up.

Nice work there Minny, I'm glad to see a good response to this at your 1st go. And funniest poster of the week, boo yah.
-
I dunno if you and Tex misinterpreted my post before but Indy tracks like Cleveland and Toronto are types of street tracks I think which are mainly used for Indy racing, while your classic oval tracks like Daytona and Indianapolis are oval tracks. I think you guys are talking more about drag racing, but correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe the definition is different up there than it is down here.
-
Well it helps if there are no pedestrian vehicles on the track for starters.
-
And Casey Rogowski started in LF as well, and Tom Brice will be back very soon to join the outfield mix as well.
-
Personally I prefer watching street car racing than watching NASCAR's going around ovals for 3 and a half hours. That's why I much prefer Formula 1 which isn't big at all in America, which is a shame really. And if the Indy Car's got their act together and the Indy Racing League and Champ Cars merged to form 1 indy series again, then you might actually have some good competition for NASCAR.

Is re-signing Jose really that bad of an Idea?
DBAHO replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I guarantee you Jose will NOT come back as a bench player, he believes he's a starter in this league and compared to some of the other SS starting around the league, he's probably got good reason. If we go down a different path at SS, some team like the Red Sox or Blue Jays will sign him to a $3 to $4mill deal. Forget about Lowell, he's making $7.5 million this season, and he'll probably get a raise on that in the open market if some team is desperate enough for a power guy at 3rd, however Beltre and Glaus will also be FA's so it'll be interesting to see what type of contract he gets if he does void his contract because they don't build a new stadium. -
Some people wanted to giv up Paulie simply because of the amount of money he was making, and his 2003 stats certainly didn't warrant that kind of salary. The smart people however, looked at Paulie's hip problem and how that affected him, and saw his 2nd half comeback. Crede doesn't have those type of problems, they're not physical but mental ones. According to Greg Walker he's "uncoachable" and "too stubborn".

I think this picture pretty much sums up these 2 threads.

I wouldn't start, they'll start up with their threesomes and tag teams again bf ya know it.

I had the best club for a while, the SoxTalk Aussies Club. Unfortunately when Jason went near the server (where's Southsider's petition ) I lost it all. Your's should be called the Great Gashy's or sumthin to that extent.

Indeed I am, although Gashy's idea of 3 days ahead sounds betta.

It's only Sunday Night down here, but I get tomorrow off as well, so it's kinda of like a 3 day weekend.
