  1. A ROMANIAN surgeon underwent a fit of madness while operating on a patient's testicles and instead cut off the man's penis and sliced it into three pieces, hospital officials said. The surgeon, Naum Ciomu, was described as a senior member of the hospital staff and a professor of anatomy. He had been operating on a 34-year-old man for a testicular malformation when he committed the act, the officials said. "We are shocked by what has happened. It is the first time we have had such a case," said Sorin Oprescu, head of the Bucharest emergency hospital where the patient was rushed for emergency reconstructive surgery. The operations have been entrusted to a highly respected Romanian plastic surgeon, Ioan Lascar, who said he would try to restore the man's urinary function but that he was unlikely to recover normal sexual activity. Doctor Ciomu has been banned from entering an operating theatre for two months pending the results of an investigation by the medical council, Oprescu said. Meanwhile the wife of the unfortunate patient said she was suing Ciomu.
  2. I don't think we need a real top guy like Benitez though, someone like Terry Adams or Luis Vizcaino who will more likely be available and do a real good job against lefties (averages of .203 and .205). Ron Villone will be one of the best lefties available. Pavano would put us over the top, and it'd be interesting to see what we'd hav to giv up to get him, since he'll be a free agent after the season. But wouldn't a rotation of Garcia, Buerhle, Pavano, Loaiza and Garland be sweet.
  3. Yes we do. You hav faron height, we hav degrees celsius. You hav miles, we hav kilometres. You hav pounds, we hav kilograms. Isn't this fun. :banghead
  4. He needs to stop pulling at the ball, and start to go the other way and hit opposite field drives again.

  6. Happy B-Day Cheat, definitely one of the top posters we hav at SoxTalk. Hope u hav a good one!
  7. Yeah I've added Cheat's Blog to my favourites, always a good read, so is Cuban's blog as well.
  8. Botch never threw 100 MPH for us, more like low 90's, and with no movement he got hammered.
  9. Oh well, maybe she can win the British Open now.

    wow

Oh boy are we going to hav fun at the SoxTalks, when the stupidest thread of the year comes out.
  14. Jurassic Carl is back with a vengeance. Great work again Ian.
  15. Me too, I thought it was quite interesting to see other people's thoughts and who are our best prospects etc.
  16. It's ESPN, it'll be a travesty for them if he doesn't go to the Yankees or Red Sox.
  17. For those against this trade, we've now given up Anthony Webster, Josh Rupe, Frankie Francisco, Jon Rauch and Garry Majewski for Crazy Carl Everett. I feel sorry for Borch though, looked like he was hitting the ball ok in his few AB's he had in his game yesterday which I saw, hopefully he can start producing down at Charlotte again. You can officially say goodbye to Maggs now, although I cringe at the thought of Everett anywhere in the field. I think he's making $3.5 million this season, and Montreal is giving us about $800,000, so we'll only hav to pay about that much for him for the rest of the season. Then he's making $4 million next season. I don't think Majewski was ever going to get much of a chance with the White Sox even though he has some good stuff, he'll be a good addition long - term for the Expos.
  18. Ever since he got out of Boston, he really changed his attitude around, everyone thought he was a problem case, not anymores.
  19. Him and Tsao are two top quality pitching prospects for the Rockies, and boy do they need them.
  20. From Tampa Bay Online,
  21. Remember what Shaq said about Eddie Jones too in his autobiography, He's timid. He's selfish. He chokes in the clutch.
  22. Quite funny indeed, You've been playing Major League Baseball for a few months now. Who is the toughest hitter you've faced this season? I think (the Yankees' Hideki) Matsui. There are many guys that are difficult to pitch to, but Matsui has been the toughest. What's easier to use, chopsticks or a fork? Chopsticks. It's easier to grab the small objects with the chopsticks. Forks make it hard to pick up. The team plane crashes on a deserted island. Who is the first to be eaten, and who comes up with the idea? Hmmmmmmmmm ... (bullpen catcher) Man Soo Lee is the first to be eaten, and (reliever Damaso) Marte comes up with the idea. OK, there's a Sumo wrestling match between Frank Thomas and Carlos Lee ... you have to put money on it. Who wins? Carlos Lee. Japanese players are known for listening to their managers and coaches, and never mouthing off. That's obviously not the case here in the U.S. What's the worst thing you've ever said to a manager or coach in Japan? I've always respected my manager. I've never said anything to them. A few of the young players have said things to a manager, but most of the players don't say anything. Did you see the movie "Mr. Baseball" (in which Tom Selleck portrayed a player who was sold to a Japanese team)? Yes. Who was a better actor in that movie, Tom Selleck or Frank Thomas? Frank Thomas is an actor? Yeah, he's in it. Oh, I don't remember seeing him in there. There's your answer. Is it hard not to laugh at a hitter when you strike him out with that 60-mph flutterball you throw? I don't laugh. I just relax because I got a guy out. Ninth inning and the game is on the line. Who should be on the mound, you or (former Seattle closer) Kaz Sasaki? I'd say Sasaki and show respect for older people.
  23. I loved how Kobe said how it hurted him that Phil Jackson and Shaw left because of him. That's because it's true. Now let's see how you can handle life in prison.
