  1. Captain Planet, he's our hero, gonna take pollution down to zero......
  2. Cutting down on the K's will be the big key for him, if he can do that, he'll be a top prospect.
  3. EIGHT runners were gored Monday and at least 10 others injured during the sixth running of the bulls at this year's San Fermin festival in northern Spain. It was the worst day for injuries so far. Runners were upended from behind or trampled along the 850m route from corral to bullring that animals and runners covered in little more than three minutes overnight. The most dangerous moments came at the end. Dozens of runners clogged the narrow entrance to the bullring, falling over one another and blocking the passage. The dozen fighting bulls and generally docile steers - themselves being chased by hundreds of runners from behind the pack - had little choice but to run over or through the fallen crowd. A big black bull lifted one man up by its horns, then repeatedly raked him and others on the ground before it was distracted and walked calmly into the ring. Among the injured was a 26-year-old man from New York who was gored in the left thigh, said Aurelio Lopez, a spokesman for Pamplona City Hall. He asked not to be identified. Ludovico de Carlos Garcia, 24, from Paris, was gored in the right knee, Lopez said. Five Spaniards and one unidentified person also were gored. Ten other runners were injured, among them 50-year-old Brian White from New York, who sustained a shoulder injury. The bull runs popularised by Ernest Hemingway in his 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises continue tonight (AEST). One person was gored on Sunday and two on Saturday. On Friday, four runners were gored including two Americans who were released from the hospital over the weekend. In the two previous days there were no serious injuries. Since record-keeping began in 1924, 13 people have been killed at the festival. The last fatal goring was of an American killed in 1995.
  4. From ESPN, Frank P. from Springfield, Illinois, asks: I noticed that Chris Young, a White Sox outfield prospect, has hit 14 homers with 20 steals at Class A Kannapolis. What kind of prospect is he? Is he a Five-Tool player? Young is hitting .270 in 76 games in the Sally League, but with a .375 OBP, a .526 SLG, 21 doubles, 14 homers, 20 steals, and 38 walks in 270 at-bats. The big negative here is his strikeout rate: he's fanned 81 times already, more than once per game, and a dangerously high ratio. The White Sox drafted Young in the 16th round in 2001, out of high school in Houston. He was very raw when drafted, and hit just .217 in rookie ball in '02. But he improved in '03, hitting .290 in 64 games for Bristol in the Appy League, and he's adjusted well to full-season ball this year. Young is very athletic, a classic tools guy. His speed is excellent, and he's already developed into an effective defensive outfielder, with plus range and an accurate, though mediocre, arm. Scouts knew he could steal bases, but his power development has been unexpected. His walk rate has been creeping upward, a good sign. But the strikeouts are worrisome. Young still needs to work on his swing, which can be awkward at times. His approach on breaking balls needs help, and that will be a problem at higher levels if it is not corrected. The good news is that he's just 20 years old, and has already made a lot of progress.
  5. Didn't work for me in Windows Media Player or Winamp, I guess to try quicktime and see if that works.
  6. Exactly, I hope he can stay in Winston Salem for the rest of the year, because Nanita is putting some serious pressure on him down in Kanny.

Kohlmeier's really been hammered in his last few starts too, I think if he was demoted, they might giv Pacheco another shot back in Charlotte if his arm is ok, I know he was on the DL for a while.
  8. Finally making some sense now, that baseball was indeed JimH. Good to see you and quickman did something as well.
  9. I agree with greasy on this one, I thought Tiger Woods was really a great game. NBA had its faults b/w offseasons in the dynasty mode, u don't know how your players are going to get better or not, NHL was also a really good game and so was Madden. Haven't really played the others besides Fifa, which I didn't like too much, you have to press about 6 keys at once, to control a player without the ball say to make a run into the box so you can do a perfect through ball to him.

  12. I think most players on the Expos are for the right price except for Jose Vidro and Nick Johnson.
  13. We could hav Bill Parcells talking bout those Jap plays instead.
  14. My good buddy is a big Cardinals and Pujols fan, so at least he hates the Cubbies too.
  15. As long as he makes an idiot out of himself, people around Chicago will want to know why. That's why he still has a job.
  16. Shows their performance so far this year, a few possible targets on here. Catching Up Name Team Inning SBA CS% ERA WP/PB/G Schneider Expos 594.7 31 48% 4.19 0.318 Brian Schneider is one heck of a catcher and should be the Gold Glove half-year winner in the NL, maybe in all of baseball. Only 31 stolen base attempts in nearly 600 innings, and half of them have been caught. Name Team Inning SBA CS% ERA WP/PB/G Matheny Cardinals 484.3 22 27% 3.98 0.204 Mike Matheny has a reputation as a good fielding catcher, and he seems to be earning it this year. His CS% of 27% is about average, but there have been only 22 attempts against him in nearly 500 innings -- the lowest ratio of any regular catcher. He also manages to keep errant pitches under control. Meanwhile, the other Molina brother is throwing out 50% of runners -- though only six attempts have been made with him behind the plate. Baserunners just don't seem to take chances against the Cardinals in general. Name Team Inning SBA CS% ERA WP/PB/G Kendall Pirates 666.7 53 30% 4.60 0.270 Zaun Blue Jays 371.3 41 32% 3.90 0.364
  17. I think I heard he could get 20 million over 3 years this offseason from the Twinkies. Either way, the makeup of that team is going to be severly changed next season.

If I can get this game down here, I'm definitely going to get a network adaptor so I can play on this online league we've got going. I'm going to play as Indiana University as well.
  19. This on Garland too from the Daily Southtown, Judging Jon Speaking of starting pitching, with Mark Buehrle, Freddy Garcia and two-time American League All-Star Esteban Loaiza, the Sox's rotation is one of the strongest in baseball. But as Guillen sees it, if the Sox are to win the AL Central, they'll need to continue to receive quality starts not only from the aforementioned trio, but from Jon Garland. Garland is 7-5 with a 4.41 ERA in 17 appearances this season. In 114 1/3 innings pitched, the 24-year-old right-hander has struck out 56, walked 39 and allowed 110 hits. Opponents are batting .255 against Garland. "He's ready to be a real major league pitcher," Guillen said. "This kid has great, great stuff. But it's up to him to take advantage of what he has and take it to the next level."
  20. Usually Health and Education are very important to people, although I think the war on terror would be extremely important to voters in America as well.
