So I'm assuming it'll be the same deal again this year, hopefully this time we won't get as many people complaining if they didn't get nominated for something, it was hard enough to pick only 5 people for each category.

Keep it to December, the offseason would be too boring then. Plus you mods and admin will hav more time to plan it and decide on all of the award types.

Little piece on Man Hands from BA, The White Sox promoted righthander Jeff Bajenaru to Triple-A Charlotte to replace Gary Majewski as the closer. Majewski was sent to the Expos in the Carl Everett trade. Bajenaru, a former two-way All-American at Oklahoma, was 2-0, 1.34 with 12 saves at Double-A Birmingham before the promotion, with 51 strikeouts and just 11 walks allowed in 34 innings. He picked up the save against Indianapolis last night with a scoreless inning, allowing one hit.

I'm not sure what the TV situation is over there regarding the Olympics, but usually down here they show highlights of Australia in the Baseball, especially if they do well.

You did, I'll giv props to ya for that. Look forward to watching him hit some sweet line drives in Athens though.

Great Falls White Sox Struggling After 9-6 Start
DBAHO replied to Chisoxfn's topic in FutureSox Board
LOL, I thought it was good read. Besides Lucy, there aren't too many big name prospects on that team though, which prob shows the lack of interest. -
Well tomorrow I'm off to the local game store to see if they have the game, supossedly if it's released it would hav been July 21 which was today over here. Here's hoping they have it.

Now you can definitely root for us. Australia released its preliminary Olympic roster, following Canada's lead with a club heavy on minor leaguers and veterans of international competition. Former big leaguers such as lefthanders Graeme Lloyd and Jeff Williams and catcher Dave Nilsson head the roster, which also includes 17 active minor leaguers. Former Braves bonus baby Glenn Williams, in his third season at Triple-A Syracuse at age 27, is having the best season of any Aussie player this year, hitting .265-21-65 while playing third base. The top prospects included on the roster include Mets catcher Justin Huber, outfielders Thomas Brice (White Sox) and Trent Oeltjen (Twins), and righthander Chris Oxspring (Padres). With a 4-3, 3.88 record at Triple-A Portland, Oxspring isn't far from reaching the major leagues, and he struggled with the decision of whether or not to play for his country. "That's why choosing to play in the Olympics was such a hard decision," Oxspring told BA correspondent John Maffei of the North County (Calif.) Times. "Kids dream of representing their country, but when you're at Triple-A, you're so close to the major leagues. I talked to the Padres and asked about my immediate future. They said if I go to Athens, it won't change their opinion of me. That gave me piece of mind." The complete Australia roster: Pitchers: Craig Anderson (Mariners), Adrian Burnside (Tigers), Graeme Lloyd, Wayne Ough (Mets), Chris Oxspring (Padres), Ryan Rowland-Smith (Mariners), John Stephens (Red Sox), Richard Thompson (Padres), Jeff Williams. Catchers: Justin Huber (Mets), David Nilsson. Infielders: Trent Durrington (Brewers), Gavin Fingleson, Brendan Kingman, Craig Lewis, Rodney van Buizen (Dodgers), Brett Tamburrino (Twins), Glenn Williams (Blue Jays). Outfielders: Thomas Brice (White Sox), Paul Gonzalez, Nick Kimpton (Angels), Trent Oeltjen (Twins), Brett Roneberg (Red Sox).

Bud's on more important business..... like finding out how the next All Star Game crowd will cheer instead of booing him.

Oooh, oooh my nomination. Flight crew beat up passenger DRUNKEN passengers often give air crews trouble, but Russia's leading airline today reported an 'unprecedented' reversal: a passenger was assaulted by intoxicated flight attendants. Two crew members on a domestic Aeroflot flight beat up a passenger who had complained that the flight attendants were drunk, airline spokeswoman Irina Dannenberg said. The passenger, identified only as A. Chernopup, was aboard a recent flight from Moscow to the Siberian city of Nizhnevartovsk, Ms Dannenberg said. She said the crew belonged to another airline, Aviaenergo. Seeing that the crew were intoxicated and were not fulfilling their duties, Chernopup asked to be served by a sober and competent flight attendant, Ms Dannenberg said. He was then beaten up by two crew members. On Russian flights, attendants often have to struggle to keep intoxicated passengers under control. But on this flight, Ms Dannenberg said flight attendants were so intoxicated that they "behaved improperly" and only began catering to passengers one-and-a-half hours into the four-hour trip. The daily Izvestia quoted another passenger as saying that half of the food the crew served ended up on the floor, leaving the aisle strewn with debris that passengers had to walk over as they disembarked. According to the passenger, Chernopup left the plane with a black eye and was promptly sent to a doctor. Izvestia also reported that a criminal case was opened after Chernopup reported the incident to the police. Dannenberg said that the plane was carrying out an Aeroflot flight, but both the aircraft and the crew belonged to Aviaenergo. Aeroflot has been contracting out from Aviaenergo since August 2003, but the incident prompted it to tighten control over Aviaenergo's staff, she said. The entire crew of the flight had been temporarily dismissed and a joint commission was investigating the incident.

Will Some Genius Explain This to Me?
DBAHO replied to Wong & Owens's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I know Brian Jordan is on the DL there, the likes of Gary Matthews Jr. in the outfield probably don't inspire much confidence in John Hart. -
Or a vent. Whatever's good I guess.

Absolutely right there Alex, certainly a lot of things have changed with Jose over the past few months. 1) When KW resigned Jose to that 1 year deal during the offseason, a lot of people here at SoxTalk were crying foul over that particular move, myself included. How could you pay a shortstop who strikes out reguarly, is average in the field, and doesn't hit for a high average $5 million? 2) When Juan Uribe came in and set the house on fire at the top of the order, it looked like the end for Jose, especially considering his hamstring injury which forced him to miss a lot of time early. Uribe has struggled mightily lately though, and his next 2 months will be crucial on both his and Jose's future. 3) Jose himself has played at a really high level in the past 2 months. He's been our best hitter in the clutch, and has hit 17 homers and more than 50 RBI's I think, a great achievement considering the time he missed. 4) He's a Clubhouse Leader, and will be very important in the latter games of the season. All in all, I actually think Jose could get a raise this offseason, if he continues hitting at a horrid pace. Of course this will depend on what happens with other SS's in Free Agency. Edgar Renteria - Cards don't seem to have enough cash to resign him, and should get $10 million a year from some team. Nomar - If dealt to a team like the Dodgers, I could see him signing a long term deal. He'll probably end up there anyways, earning a contract of double figures every year. Orlando Cabrera - Really struggled this year, but if he's traded to a team like the Cubs and really starts to hit again, he'll get some money, think he wanted about $8 million last offseason in contract talks.

PNC Park gets 2006 All-Star Game
DBAHO replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If only Dave Littlefield could get the team right. -
I believe he's nursing a groin injury or some type of injury.
-
So much for that late season boost with Weaver then.
-
Eddie George, welcome to the Dallas Cowboys. Perfect situation for him, rotating with Julius Jones.
-
Sweeney's now hitting .381 in his last 16 games. Schnurstein's extended his hitting streak to 17 games going 30 for 70 hitting .429.
-
Or another starter if you could believe that, Hideo's Nomo's been hideous for them all season long, but they'll get Perez back off the DL as well. Sweeney's probably their option for a 1B with Delgado refusing to waive his no trade rights, with KC moving Mota to a contender for some good prospects.

Stand up for your town Greasy.
