Dodgers aggressively pursuing Alexei
Reasonable people do not expect a top 3 prospect from the Dodgers system. I can't speak for everyone else. I doubt KW is directly involved in trade talks. The types of trades we have made since Hahn has taken over are indicative of a change in philosophy. Your third point is the most coherent you've been all day; you're welcome.

White Sox sign Zach Duke, 3 years, $15 million
So, you're irritated that the Sox dumped an overvalued reliever at precisely the right time? Steamer projections aren't very useful on Duke; Steamer doesn't know about the changes in skill that allowed Duke to improve significantly in 2014. Steamer is pretty instructive on Reed, given the large sample size there.

Dodgers aggressively pursuing Alexei
1) No one is excited about dealing with Friedman; rather, they are excited about a potential deal with a team that has actual assets that we would want. There's a difference. 2) What does KW have to do with anything? 3) Who said anything about a coup? We have major needs, and are deep at MI. We are trying to find solutions to glaring holes, not "rip off" someone in a head to head trade. Any more rhetoricals from you? I'm here to help.

It should be noted that said former closer was exactly a league average reliever last year. How much do you think O.O WAR is worth?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) I'll bet anyone Surkamp is better than Duke in 2015.

Mets/LAD/NYy interested in Alexei, according to Levine
Greene would be a nice match for Sanchez. Ramirez? We can do better.

The notion that the deal would likely be short term makes me wonder if it is indeed us.

I'll take Montero and Mejia.

Semien would be a fine alternative until Anderson is ready. Semien is ready to play everyday.
-
Carlos Gonzalez
They would never put themselves in a position where Stubbs is an everyday player.

Dodgers OFs
Hey, look who reads Soxtalk. Hi Phil!

Ethier would make the most sense if he could still play, but he cannot. Kemp is the only one of the three worth a damn.

Free Agents
Give me Tomas and Liriano.

Billy Beane
Unless Addison isn't all he's cracked up to be...
-
Billy Beane
Anything more than the veteran minimum for him is expensive/more than he's worth.
-
Billy Beane
He's 29 and fat with an old player's skill set. He's done.
-
Billy Beane
No. You're totally right, dude. We should sign guys to expensive contracts who are demonstrably bad baseball players and will keep us in the doldrums for the foreseeable future. Michael Taylor is probably a better player at this point.
-
Billy Beane
He's a DH (with no other skill besides hitting) who just slugged .380. Wanting him is demonstrably stupid.
-
Billy Beane
Butler is trash. Christ, what the hell is wrong with some of you guys?
-
Billy Beane
I'm sorry, but this is stupid. And I'm no fan of Beane. He put together a solid team on a non-existent budget. His team blew TWO chances to close out the game. That's not on him. That's on the variability of bullpens and bad luck.
