Help - MLB TV Subscription Cancellation
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) Just out of curiosity, why are all guys cancelling? Move back to Chicago area? Upgrading to extra innings? Is there another option out there I am not aware of? Thanks! For me it's the time difference that is the killer. I try to watch as many live games as I can, but with the time difference, work and family, etc, the amount of games I'm able to get doesn't really justify the cost.

Help - MLB TV Subscription Cancellation
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) This is huge. DO NOT log on and use it, only to call the next day to cancel. Obviously I had to log in for going about cancelling, but I assume you mean actually watching games and then trying to cancel. Sent an email earlier, but no reply yet.

2014 Catch-all Anything thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 02:23 PM) There's always the tumbler types The tumbler one looks good. Probably too costly at the moment (places I checked were about €400/€500), but something to remember for the future when I'm a bit more flush. Thanks.

Help - MLB TV Subscription Cancellation
I need to pass on getting MLB TV for 2014, but when I went to cancel online it seems to be already in place. It says I have access until the end of February 2015 and that no refunds will be given. I thought renewals only kicked in at the end of this month? Any advice appreciated.

What alternatives are there to a traditional compost bin? Our garden space is flagged, so there's nowhere to place a compost bin where the resultant liquid can run-off into the soil and worms can come up into the composting material. Can you get composters with a closed bottom, or what alternatives are there?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 18, 2014 -> 02:30 PM) Except that it's not. That's a 25 year old Finnish figure skater named Kiira Korpi. And she's a babe, and it should be drawn to everyone's attention. CBS did nothing wrong, there. I endorse this post!

2014 Catch-all Anything thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 12, 2014 -> 06:42 PM) Jesus, this made me physically uncomfortable: Fair effs to them. The aul' Russians seem mad for a bit of climbing high stuff. Some of the videos out there are mental. I'm surprised these two didn't start swinging off it when they were at the very top. You'd get sweaty hands just watching that.

Wedding Bands
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) I have a white gold band and wear it 24/7/365. I only take it off to mess with it and itch my finger. I'm surprised some of you don't wear yours. Is that a work thing? Same as yourself. I only take mine off extremely rarely and extremely briefly.

Wedding Bands
QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 02:49 AM) We're shopping for new wedding bands and I am warming up to the idea of not getting gold, it seems so old fashioned. So what are you wearing? My previous ring was a tricolor gold woven pattern. So anything that remotely looks like that makes me puke. I've been searching some sites, bluenile.com etc. Where else should I look? Gold isn't old fashioned - it's a timeless classic, man. I'm inclined to think that some of the alternatives are a bit faddish. I went with gold - simple and classic, no designs or patterns, substantial enough without being over-the-top chunky. I love it. From the brief description you gave, it sounds like your previous ring had perhaps too much going on between the different colours and patterns for it to have longevity. As with most design classics, I think clear and simple usually holds its appeal better than overly designed. So, regardless of if you go for gold or not, my advice would be to stick to one colour that you're happy with and keep it simple. Hope this is helpful. (Obviously, all of the above is purely based on my opinion, for what it's worth, based on my own personal preferences. I don't want to run down anyone elses wedding ring preferences as such an investment is a deeply personal thing.)

*Official* Work Out Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 08:11 PM) So a colleague of mine at work was doing pull-ups on one of those bars you put in your door frame or whatever, and the thing came loose and he fell on his neck and permanently damaged his spinal cord, causing what appears to be paralysis from the waist down, with some basic movement in his upper body. Everybody who uses these things make certain it is really in there correctly and provides the appropriate stability necessary. I have never used one because I never felt safe using them, but I know several of you probably do, so please be careful. I'm presuming it was one of these types of pull-up bar, rather than one of these?

Just had a look at the second video there. Interesting stuff alright. I think I'll have a look at The Righteous Mind, as recommended by your good self.

Yeah, I was planning on getting some sort of pull up contraption for the door soon enough - something to give some serious thought to, so.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 03:36 PM) It wasn't a spelling mistake or a grammatical error. He was using the wrong word over and over. If I was using the wrong word, I would hope somebody would point it out. Ach, it was more like the inappropriate use of 'e'. Which seems quite apt, really.

Forgotten White Sox Moments
Just had a bit of a rummage around some of the end of season threads from 2005 in the archive, which was quite uplifting. Then I returned to the world of White Sox 2014...

Non-American White Sox Fans
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) There is also at least one poster from Spain, can't remember his handle. ETA: I found this site while I was overseas myself. I was in India on business for nearly a month, and bored out of my mind in the evenings, so I stumbled upon this one during the White Sox pennant run in 2005. Was a great way to connect to the community when far away from it. And, what a year to make the connection too.

NFL Super Bowl XLVIII
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 02:22 PM) Testing for PED's but no approved testing for HGH. Testing program weaker than MLB's in general but has probably caught as many or more people. If Braun/ARoid can get around MLB's testing program then it's not going to be tough at all to beat the current NFL program, so the fact that people are getting caught suggests a lot of use to me. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 02:27 PM) It's usually a 4-game suspension the first time you are caught, then the penalties can be more severe for repeat offenders. In baseball though, any drug user is given the scarlet letter and looked down upon forever. In football, no one seems to care, there doesn't seem to be much of a negative reputation for PED users, it's just forgotten about. I think it's the nature of the game, it's so physical and violent, people don't care as much about it, the players are already so large anyway. In baseball, once the sacred records were broken by large unnaturally musuclar men, people got upset. I see. Thanks.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 01:20 PM) With Hart's recent struggles, England should really be giving Forster a look in the net They really, really should be. He's a great option to have. He got a run out in a friendly there a while back, fecked if I can remember who against, but I think he has a lot to offer them.

NFL Super Bowl XLVIII
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 02:01 PM) Just such a dangerous combination of speed and PEDs that makes them so good. What's the regulation of PEDs like in the NFL?
