  1. Celtic set to win the League this weekend if Aberdeen lose tonight, or, failing that, if Celtic match tonight's result on Sunday.
  2. An early evening pint in a favoured city centre drinking emporium, and I just saw a young phone thief on a bike getting clotheslined by a passing citizen. Phone returned to rightful owner. Time to tackle this pint.
  3. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 01:05 AM) White guys generally like skinny and a good face, (/green but partially /green) other assets be damned. I don't know how many times some white guy I know boasts about his girl and she has no ass or tits. It's a goddamn shame IMO but to each their own. I found that my taste evolved with age... I would be attracted to a curvier lassie now than I would have been as a teenager or in my twenties.
  4. I had to Urban Dictionary what 'smdh' meant. :-( I'd forgotten how funny this thread could be.

    Brexit

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 04:11 AM) Scotland making more Independence noise again http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/polit...u-a7626746.html Northern Ireland party Sinn Fein calling for unification vote. http://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/iri...-fรฉin-1.3009166 Sorry to be a pedantic ballbag, but Sinn Fรฉin are an all-Ireland party.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 03:10 AM) It really is a work of quite sublime beauty, isn't it?
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 04:05 AM) Took an online quiz to determine a team, got them. That's an incredibly disappointing answer!!
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 18, 2017 -> 02:26 AM) I think it's underrated as hell. I liked the supporting character with the glasses, the ginger, and the bully that ended up coming good, but I just couldn't take to the main protagonist. Also, the brother's character was a decade too early. Possibly I'm being overly punishing because it's a hometown film. Incidentally, my father and all my uncles went to the real Synge Street where this is set and shot.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 18, 2017 -> 02:55 AM) Happy St. Patrick's Day stranger!!! It has been a marginal while, I concede. Greetings of the festivities to you too! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€
  10. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 09:03 PM) I saw Sing Street last night. Kind of reminded me of The Committments, only with kids. Good soundtrack, you wanted to like the kids, an enjoyable flick. I found the lead character very irritating, but some of the support characters were great. Still not sure whether I found the film cringey or enjoyable, to be honest.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 03:45 AM) I have gotten into soccer this year. Somehow, I ended up following West Ham. Am I destined for disappointment like my other sports teams? Sort of seems like it. Interesting, how did you arrive at them as your team of choice? Hi all, by the way.

    Grilling

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) Looks good. What kind of chicken is that?> The skewers are a Thai style recipe that I made up myself, plus a bit of turmeric lobbed in for a bit of random yellowness. For the legs I used a spicey lime chicken wings recipe - quite delicious. The other meats are Hungarian beef skewers and chicken hearts.

    Grilling

Greetings all. Here's my recent effort at a homemade grill - oil can barbecue. Hope you've all been keeping fabulously since my last posting here.
  14. Long, long time since I've shown my face around here. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too, Sir!
  15. Commiserations lads. That Belgian team has some great talent amongst their ranks.
  16. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 01:28 AM) Ok will both games finish in 90 or extras? Betting against Greece in that fixture is a risky business.
  17. WOW!!!Spectacular, spectacular goal from Colombia there. Jesus!
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) Getting rid of that stubborn fat around your belly takes diet, of course in combination with your exercise regimen. Eating right/clean will kill that fat deposit, and one of the things that will help you do that is by eating good fats (within reason). Fats such as coconut, olive oil, nuts, avocados, etc. It will take time if done properly, but it will happen. I've heard of the workouts you speak of, but I've not done them. I'm not a huge fan of interval/high intensity training, they tend to tire me out which affects my ability to target specific body parts at full force. It's like doing cardio before strength training...sure, you'll still be able to train, but you'll be tired from the cardio causing you to lift less weight for less reps. So, keep eating clean, and eventually I'll get there (it really is stubborn there, the fecker). Ok. I can live with that as I have been, with just allowing myself the odd cheat meal here and there. See if I switch my macro-nutrient calculations from fat loss to bulking, I reckon I'm going to have to start eating pasta or rice or potatoes again to have a hope of making up my required carb numbers. Do you see that as a problem in terms of the 'eating clean' angle as long as they fit within my macro-nutrient numbers? I've been giving them a miss with my recent approach to eating due to the starch in them. Thanks for your answers so far. Appreciated.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 04:32 AM) Take body measurements and forget about your weight. Yes, I agree, that's been my approach for a long time now. For a couple of years there I had no idea how much I weighed. I only weighed myself three weeks ago for calculating my body fat %. That's where that came from. What I'm really asking about is fat burning, for that bit around my waist and lower abdomen, rather than actual weight loss.
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 12:26 AM) Hard question to answer, as I don't know your body type or how it responds to weight training, but the bottom line is any kind of activity is going to help you on this quest. The only way you can find out if it's helping speed up the process is to give it a try, at worst you change it up, at best it works and you're that much closer to your goal! Only by experimentation and time will you figure out what type of exercise/combination of exercises works best for YOU, but you have to give them a try to find out. Don't worry about what works for others, the most important thing is to find out what works great for you that you enjoy doing. Sounds like you're on the right road...just keep going. I suppose the main thing I'm wondering is if I bulk up a bit of extra muscle, is that likely to increase fat burning and get rid of that stubborn bit around my belly, or will the big eating involved in bulking mean it just sits there as is. Thusfar, my calorie and macro-nutrient intake has been geared towards weight loss, as opposed to bulking. The weight routine I've been doing is called MaxWorkouts by Shin Otake, I think his name is. You familiar with it at all?

    Coffee thread

Greg, two things: 1. How did you find the caffeine withdrawals? I haven't had any coffee, tea, or soft drinks for over three weeks now, and for nearly the whole first week I had these absolutely cruel migraines from the caffeine withdrawal. It was more noticeable than anything when I went off alcohol. 2. There's some good points already been made here about not eating too little. You need to eat to lose fat, as counterintuitive as that sounds. Good regular, healthy meals (and watch out for the hidden sugars) are the way to go, combined with exercise. If you don't eat enough, the body goes into starvation mode and actually stores fat, making your suffering entirely counter productive and fecking with you metabolism.
  22. Over the last three weeks of combining a meticulous diet with exercise, I have managed to get down 10lbs from when I first weighed in - 178.8 to 168.8. I'm hoping I've gained some muscle weight too. I think I've also managed to get my body fat % down from around 19% to 17%. My initial goal is to get it down to 15%, and from there to keep trying to reduce it to about 12%-10%. My question is, if I start trying to bulk up at this point, will the fat loss still go ahead at the critical areas (I have a difficult-to-shift bit of fat around the belly and lower abdomen)?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 27, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) Once saw a metal dart stick directly into someone's leg during beer darts. I laughed, he didn't seem as amused. The humourless f##k!
  24. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 25, 2014 -> 10:35 PM) Yesterday's game is going to cause a bad stretch of games coming up.. It was a killer. Let's see what tomorrow brings, though.
