That would have been cool, damn you PBR! Check them out! 4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) Good discussion. I also feel I'm at the point in life I wouldn't go to a game unless I had good lower level seats, but I can see why you like sitting in the upper tank. Your arguments are good ones. It always is nice to be able to spread out and watch a game, too. I'd sit up there if it was guaranteed that we had the whole area basically to ourselves. There is no right or wrong here, but being close doesn't really do much for me. And I would rather see two more games then one game up close. Just my take. Hell, I think not having to sit through commercials and the fresh air is worth $10. I'm gonna be 35, I've sat everywhere in a bunch of stadiums. UD at the Cell isn't that bad, trust me.
  5. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) this might help ya: http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/for/3193601535.html Guy wants $90. I'll pass on that. Stub Hub has tix for $23 with the fees. Do you think the "TAKEJAKE" code will work for 8/22? Not working now. My birthday is 8/20, we'll see what I get for that. Ha.
  6. QUOTE (joeynach @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) Man I wish this whole thing was true for LD seats only. I just cant stand sitting in the UD anymore, not just for a sox game for anything. I maintain the view that once you are a working professional there is no need to every sit in the UD unless its for Game 7 of the WS or the Super Bowl. The view is much better from my living room couch and 52" LED HDTV and if you really value being at the park pay a few extra bucks and get a lower deck or outfield seat. There is something about the UD that just bothers me, I don't like feeling so disconnected from the field of play and the core audience and the players themselves. I have always found the crowds to be better in the LD, the UD IMO is always fulls of discount ticket buyers, groupons, teachers night, church groups, kids camps......Im just saying there is a time and a place for that and I feel like at age 28 now that time has passed by. Well you are certainly entitled to you opinion. If you read my blog you would see that I am not what one would consider a "working professional" so while it may only seem like a "few bucks" to you, it is a game for me. I get into most games for $10, including LD seats. A jump from $18 (Prime UR) to $38 (Prime Bleachers) is a big jump. I also like being on the side to see the pitch, just a personal preference for me. I've been to 33 games so far, and I will say that if I am in the first few rows in the UD it is just as good as the LD. I don't mind being in either, but the crowd is more annoying (to me) in the LD. Lotta families and people who feel they are entitled to get up whenever and just talk to one another instead of watching the game. Plus you have less room in most cases. I sat the highest I have ever sat yesterday and had one of the best times. Sat with 3 guys from Chicago that grew up with a good diet of southside baseball. The chat was awesome and best of all they gave me the seat for free. You are hitting on one of the things I am trying to get across, no matter how much or how little you spend, it usually doesn't enhance the experience. I saw a great game on Sunday vs Sat (when the rally fell short) and I was in better seats for the L. When I went to fewer games, I would sit in closer seats most of the time. But doing what I am, trying to buy as much directly from the Sox as possible, UD is the best deal for me. And honestly, if you enjoy your view on a TV better than UD seats, you don't love baseball. Just my view.
  7. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) My hatred of the Cubs dissipated when the Sox won the Series in '05. The Sox got there first. They will ALWAYS be the ones who won it first no matter what. It's now 100+ years for the Cubs, and they've looked awful for a few years now. Hating them is like kicking the small kid when he's down. The Cubs winning has no ill effect on the White Sox in their direct pursuit of the post-season. Outside of the crosstown games of course. The worry before 2005 was that they were gonna get city bragging rights. They didn't. The White Sox did. I agree with this mostly. I don't despise the Cubs team, just basically the fan base. I got in an argument with good friends who were Cubs fans cause I called their fan base "fair weather". It just seems so easy and typical to be a Cubs fan, whereas being a Sox fan pre-2005 took balls. Especially if you were from Illinois. In 2005 when Prior is getting more press than the surging Sox, I was pretty pissed. But post-2005 I could give an eff about most things Cub. Any argument is settled by one year, 2005. I always liked the "living in the past response" but you and I know that if they would have won it, we'd hear about it for another 100 years. I dislike the Tigers. Hate is reserved for bad people and bad things, not sports related things.

  12. Love his defense. Picks up for Pauly alot. I hope he can turn it around sooner than later, I will offer our extra room to his folks if they promise to go to every game. I would agree that his base running is dismal.

  14. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) I'm thinking of going to tonight's game by taking the Rock Island Line to the 35th street stop, but I heard they were supposed to be doing work on the train tracks and the stop is supposed to be closed until construction is completed. Does anyone know if it's going on now? Will I be able to ake the train to the 35th street stop? Also, I'm gonna try and buy a last-minute ticket from the box office (or a scalper) and I'm hoping that by the tim I get there the upper deck seats will be sold out or close to sold out and they'd sell the remaining lower deck seats for half price. Would this be the case? Would I have a good chance of getting a lower deck seat at half price if I went to the box office just before game time? Go to the box. And yes, you will be able to prolly sit anywhere you want tonight.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) I'm pretty sure that Red Line construction is NEXT year, not this year. Correct. I got a ticket this am at the Box Office for $7, I would be very surprised if they sell them all out.
  16. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) have you tried buying vouchers online? the kids' club vouchers are all over ebay. pm me if you need help getting tix Wow. I looked those up, might work for me. If anyone has any extras, I am always looking. I try to spend about $10 a ticket.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 08:38 AM) In 2013 after offseason wrist surgery Bingo. My thoughts too. Just doesn't have that extra to get the ball out. I think he will come back around this year, but I am pretty sure his wrist is giving him fits.
  18. Thanks for all the support guys! I am gonna be at the next three home games vs the Twins. Hope we can gain a few games this weekend! GO
  19. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Cool idea for a blog! I had always thought buying tickets from someone at the gate was scalping. Is that only if you pay above face value? I don't have any objections at all to getting deals on tickets. I'm just concerned that the blog may somehow get the author into trouble. Hope you save that site for your own memories. Twenty years from now it will be pretty nostalgic to read it. Thanks 103! http://www.huckbouma.com/CM/Publications/ticketscalping.asp According to that, buying for below face is not scalping so it isn't breaking any laws. Nor is selling me a ticket for cost or for less. I just need to be 2,000 feet away from the stadium, which I follow strictly. I am sure that the Sox don't want people to know how easy it is to get cheaper tickets, so they haven't done anything on Twitter for me. When they do the deals for $10 or less, I always buy at the box office.
  20. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) Great idea and well executed. Your writing is just fine, grammar is overrated. If I were you, I would look for the publicity greg mentioned, then start making sponsorship calls! Get yourself some ad $ for your site and work. Keep up the good work! I would also start a twitter acct if you have not already and grow your following. I do have a Twitter- @mysoxsummer Check it out!
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Great idea. Great blog. I'd assume you will eventually get a lot of publicity on this if you seek publicity. If I were you and if you want publicity, I'd email some of the TV reporters and writers. Their emails should all be available. They'd probably hit you up later in your adventure. Thanks Greg! When I get closer to the final game, I might just do that!
  22. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 09:06 AM) Nice idea. I hate playing grammar police, but if you're looking for writing tips, try to cut down on "so," I counted six or seven of those in just the first paragraph of your latest entry. Yeah, that is pretty bad. Thanks for the tip!
  23. I always check this- http://mlb.mlb.com/cws/ticketing/special_events.jsp And your other thread on another site.
  24. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) So do you count transportation or parking in your formula. I do, which is $0. I live less than a mile from the park. If I didn't live so close I wouldn't be doing this. What I count is only the ticket cost. I normally don't purchase anything at the game in terms of food or drink. I have been lucky with some free tickets (including 2 Cubs/Sox games) and I always try to buy at the box office before I go online. Sadly, a bunch of codes that work online don't work at the box office, which is complete BS. So a $14 seat, when you use a 50% code usually ends up running just under $14 with fees, when you buy a single. I think that is a bunch of BS. The deals should be online and at the box office.
  25. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) If you have, say, $150 remaining at your last game....do you splurge? Ya know, I don't know. Last week I splurged for a $20 good seat because I had got so many for free. More than likely I will get a good seat for #50.
