  1. What's upsetting me the most about Vazquez and Garcia are both have been unable to atleast pitch ONE quality outing within two weeks. Not only have their efforts hurt our club, but their value has quickly dominished. All we need is for Garcia or Vazquez to respectively pitch ONE dominating game before the trade deadline. Atleast provide an organization on the fence another thought concerning their value. Wouldn't huirt if the Mets lost 6 or 7 straight entering the trade deadline, either.
  2. I had no problem with Zumaya's celebration when it occured, and I certaintly have none 24 hours afterwards. I heard an interesting piece of information discussed on Silvy and Carmen last night. Apparently, when returning from a commercial break, cameras (probably from ESPN) caught Zumaya mouthing "fish those guys." LOL. I find it rather funny. Nothing hurts more than someone who talks trash and can back it up. It's their obligation to do something about it next time. I don't care how dififcult it is, if you want to return the favor, hit him and celebrate appropriately. Can't fault Zumaya for displaying emotion following the out.
  3. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) I am not following you. Is your comment out of order with what you were referring too? I don't think loses are going to help us. We need to win games. We are now what 3-6 or 3-7 in out last games? We are in a slump for sure, but can still make up the 5.5 games behind. I find it more difficult to follow your response than his original post, which was very clear. Today's lost cost us a two game swing -- I wouldn't say under any circumstances we "needed this." Regardless of how many games remain, no one needs a loss against a divisional rival ahead of us.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Did he eat the dipspiff one, too? OMFG... LOVE the edit!!!! It's not an edit. Language filters have replaced "s.hit" with "spiff" and "f.uck" with "fish."
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) PS.. Where the hell is the rolleyes smiley??? Removed. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52467 I guess not many have read the thread. I discussed the issue last night with him. Jason should probably lock it at the top. The puking smile has also been removed.
  6. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) There is no more insight; no more logical discussions that set Soxtalk above the rest. Its all negative, extreme reactionary posts from now on, I guess. Does it REALLY upset you this much? I believe there are only TWO posters, from my observations, whom believe Detroit has sealed the division. And the choking avatars? One or two. Crede and Thome haven't been criticized for anything other than their lack of contributions in recent games. Guillen's decisions have warranted discussion. Seriously, now. I've always considered you a funny poster, but am I supposed to congratulate you for whining about the discussions featured this site, which -- in your opinion -- are trending downwards? Is it difficult to understand how negative threads are natural, and expected, of a team with high expectations set upon them? There's a good website you can browse which would serve you intentions well. You'll never see anything negative. It's called whitesoxinteractive.com, and you'd fit in quite well.
  7. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) The "ledge" comment is addressed to the board at large, not you individually. Oh, so when you quoted my post, wrote "I'm not joining you on the ledge," you were referring to the all-knowing "you."
  8. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) No more flimsy than people throwing in the towel on 7/20 for frack's sake. Why is that idea so foreign to you? Cleveland was godawful 1st half last year and you know what happened. We were the best overall until one month last year we slumped. We have not strung together any sizeable streak thus far which means one of two things: 1) We're just not a good team and one that doesn't click 2) We haven't clicked YET so when we do.... So which one do you choose? I'll take two, and until we're mathematically out of it, I'm not joining you on the ledge. And BTW trust me: I have forgotten about last year completely. This is so obviously not 2005. I don't even believe you, or several others posters who quoted me, know what you're arguing about. Where do you get the impression I'm "on the ledge?" Reading comprehension isn't difficult on a post covering a whole two paragraphs. Personally, unless Williams upgrades the rotation (ie, move Garcia), I'm concerned of our playoff chances. I'm not about to jump off my house, or any other scenario you want to cite which suggests I'm about to kill myself. These last few series have raised doubts in my mind, among others, that our ballclub doesn't match up well against good competition.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) I don't have the radio on anymore, what retarded spin is Rongey putting on this loss? Not as apologetic as you may expect. He admitted the offense fared rather poorly this afternoon. Also implied that if the team continues playing as it currently has been, they won't make the playoffs. A stark difference from yesterday. Even the callers I've heard have asked legitimate questions. First was about Guillen's lineup, another criticizing Widger.
  10. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) But saying "The Season is over", "We won't make the playoffs"...etc screams of logic? No..... I wasn't commenting on those points.
  11. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) I don't mean to be naive but I'll say it again: yes, we stink right now, but if we're going to slump, I'd rather have it now and then go on a tear through August/September. Yeah, it's a setback, but we'll see how much this team really wants it from this point on. They had a chance to make a statement and that statement apparently was: the Tigers are way better than us. But really, people, the hitting slump? Vasquez's meltdown last night? Stranding all these guys today? This screams to me "ROUGH PATCH." In other words: TEMPORARY. How the hell do you know any of this? I'm tired of people suggesting perhaps this is our only slump. Or those who love to riddle posts with cliches such as, "every team goes through these periods," or "we did it last year and it turned out fine." Listen to me, here: forget about last season. Referencing last years August/September swoon, as if to imply we're going through that point now, is a flimsy set of logic.
  12. While I'm satisfied our ballclub wasn't swept, leaving Detroit 5.5 games out -- especially after the dominance of Game 1 -- is very disappointing. I can't fault Contreras for this afternoon. He pitched well. But aside from him, and more recently Garland, I'm concerned about this team. We can't simply rely on our offense to push us past Detroit and Minnesota's pitching. Williams has to realize this White Sox team as currently constructed needs an upgrade.
  13. I thought this team never gives up. Last two AB's have looked rather pathetic.
  14. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) What is the point of "spiff"? I agree it can go anytime now... For anyone who wants to know, go to the "site upgraded" thread in the palehose section. I discussed it with Jason and company.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) WTF PUDGE, MAGGS AND MONROE! JENKS ERA ISNT 0.00! I'll make it simple for you Harris. If Crede can't understand the importance of the game, and how pivotal of a sequence it was, then he should have hit the ball. Or perhaps made contact with ONE fastball. Don't stare out on the mound after you're the one who failed. Hit the ball or sit down.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) Yes because as we have seen with our own flame throwers, 100 mph is so easy to hit... OOPS, too bad. Hit it or walk to the dugout. Zumaya's ERA isn't 0.00 last I checked.
  17. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) I see that Zumaya has been taking classes from Carlos Zambrano..... I don't blame him one bit. It's a big moment and Joe embarrassed himself. Acted like he's never seen a 100 mph fastball. Next time hit it.
  18. I love it how our hitters are swatting at 100 fastballs, yet the first 98 mph fastball thrown by Jenks is a single.
  19. Don't like the celebration Crede? Next time make contact. Don't look overmatched. Have you team hike up their panties and score a few runs.
  20. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Flash, where did Kenny say this? Josh Mora, on a Comcast Sports Net preview for a later show, mentioned the quote leading into the 8th inning.
  21. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) NASTY Nasty, yes, but not a strike. Pudge raised that pitch a good half a foot after catching it.
  22. Williams suggesting he's "absolutely not pleased" with this team's defense and starting pitching is good to hear. It's been bordering on embarrassing. Pitching is unable to overcome ANYTHING out of the ordinary. "Best offense in baseball" can't hit good starting pitchers recently. On the mound, if there's a play our starters believe should have been made and isn't, it's as if their focus is immediately lost. Oh, but tell me not to be concerned. Say something about the schedule, or how there's "plenty of baseball left."
  23. Is this how our starting pitchers recover? That pitch to Shelton was dead middle. Jesus Christ.
  24. You have to respond after that, Contreras. Don't let the takeout ruin your focus on the mound. Quick out right here. I'd hate to think about that play actually leading to the winning run.
  25. I just hate the way this game has gone. You have a feeling Contreras is going to give up a cheap run and lose.
