  1. I'm very interested in absolutely raping another organization into giving us much more than market value for our mediocre starters, Vazquez or Garcia. We're in a tremendous position -- deal or no deal, our team could continue onwards just fine. It's good once in awhile to be in this position, and not on the other end. If Minaya is overwhelmed by the New York media suggesting he make a move, well, say goodbye to Milledge. Tough s***, otherwise. Don't tell me, "he's not giving him up!!!!11" Why shouldn't we begin there? Is Williams just going to help out Minaya? There's quite a difference between middle relief, which we would have in return, than a starting pitcher. Without question both would probably improve their numbers against National League ballclubs. We shouldn't be in any position to help out a potential National League, World Series contender unless they're willing to help us out. I want our Zambrano for Kazmir, or AJ for Bonser/Liriano/Nathan. Those situations were both brought out of a team dealing from positions of strength (Min), and one organization taking advantage of another's impatience (Tampa). Why shouldn't I expect the same?
  2. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) Considering you are a pessimist with prospects why in the hell would you look forward to a guy who can't hit for power and hasn't hit .300 in any level of full season ball? I'm not entirely sold on him either. Atleast his swing doesn't have a noticeable hole, such as Fields. His relatively low OBP is a concern, but as a far as power, that can always be developed later. From what I reclall in pictures and spring training, he's hardly filled out his figure. Really, you're only reinforcing my point. Is it that bad in our system that what I have to look forward to is a light hitting OF and a power lefty unable to miss bats? Someone, anyone, tell me what to look forward to? It's honestly enough to vomit over my keyboard. I intentionally left out Fields because I honestly believe he'll be traded. I've had a change of opinion after reading posts from people explaining his value may decrease if moved. If this organization were concerned with developing him for the ballclub, they would have moved him to LF by now. Why wait, exactly? I doubt he's rotting in Charlotte for another several seasons, waiting for Crede's arbitration years to run out.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) By Liotta rocked you must've meant that he sucked, and unbelivably hard at that. And he was rated how highly on our top-prospects list preseason? Tell me, because I'm continuing to doubt everyday, who exactly do we have to look forward to? Lumsden and Sweeney as far as I'm concerned.
  4. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) according the the Roch Red Wings website (the Twins AAA team), RHP Matt Garza has been promoted from Double-A New Britain, Do I ever wish we drafted Garza instead of Broadway. Difference between a potential number 2 and a potential number 4 starter.
  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Liriano is getting rocked 3-0/ Only with Liriano would we say 3 runs (2 earned) is getting rocked. For Garland, Garcia, Vazquez it's an improvement.
  6. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) What is she, 6 foot 7? No, Frankie Muniz (according to IMDB) is 5' 6."
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Anyone figure out the Santana/Liriano matchups vs Detroit? I'm not certain who would be pitching for Detroit, but the remaining games would continue like this: July 28 -31: Liriano and Santana August 7-9: Liriano and Santana September 7 - 10: Liriano and Santana
  8. If Gardenhire maintains the rotation as it currently stands, we'll miss Liriano, but have Santana game two, July 25. August 18-20: Santana, no Liriano August 25-27: Liriano and Santana September 29 - October 1 (last game of season): Liriano and Santana. I hope these games mean absolutely nothing. If everything holds, which I understand it may not, we'll have these two 6 of the remaining 12 games against Minnesota. Our offense and pitching better man up, because I'm not 'tipping my hat' 6 times.
  9. Flash Tizzle replied to Steff's topic in SLaM
I can't be the only one who assumed "Red" was the father from 'That 70's Show.' BTW, Steff, that link is broken.
  10. /chatroom Let's all cheer on Liriano.
  11. Fox whoring itself again. Nothing new there. I'm sure there's a new upcoming series which we'll have the honor of seeing several hundred times during the commerical break.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) AL by atleast 8 runs tonight. Personally, I'm not so confident. I realize the American League has won seven straight decisions, but as with any single game played during the regular season, anything can happen. Rogers and Buehrle are honestly the only two pitchers who worry me. If Guillen can manage around these two, the rest should fall in.
  13. Any proposed deal involving McCarthy to San Francisco shouldn't even be discussed beyond a message board. This man Sabean has literally been fleeced about every trade and offseason acquisition the last several years, and we're going to offer McCarthy and Anderson for Schmidt? You've got to be s***ting me! How about we give him s***, take Schmidt, and run off like every other general manager seemingly does. It literally sickens me to even hear those two names mentioned with a man who can't evaluate fair trades worth a damn. Atleast dating back to their World Series run. Schmidt has recovered well from arm troubles, but I don't trust his long term durability. If we were to compare Schmidt/McCarthy side-by-side from a potential trade onwards, I would guarantee McCarthy overtakes Schmidt by the third season and never looks back. Don't be an idiot Williams. Either offer Sabean garbage and hope he accepts or move on.
  14. Get in the chatroom, people.
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) You don't think Brandon McCarthy and Neal Cotts are 2 examples of this? Yes, they're good examples of what our system has accomplished. Now, do it again. Don't give the ballclub only one or two contributing arm every 5 years. With our increasing payroll there should be more than enough to devote to minor league development.
  16. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) He's been dishing out more meatballs than the Olive Garden lately. I love it when you criticize. Yeah, the signature will reign again until he's gone from this ballclub.
  17. I don't believe Politte could pitch any worse if someone ordered him to intentionally throw meatballs. If there's any benefit to his recent meltdowns, it should be there's no doubt Politte is done with this team. How many times can we give him a chance; throw him another inning, without realizing his troubles go beyond physical ailments.
  18. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) No, I am NOT giving up yet so don't even say it, but if we lose a MLB game to Russ f***ing Ortiz.... Not even Jphat could spin a bed-wetting against Ortiz. I don't even want to hear about Mazzone working with him.
  19. I'm done fantasizing over Vazquez's potential, or "stuff." He can't locate worth a s*** tonite. It's ridiculous. When's the last time he threw a curveball which didn't hang? Several more years of this, huh?
  20. QUOTE(sin city sox fan @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) I love the fact that mlb.com got to post it before the ESPN f***s got to announce it as well! ESPN has had the results but are too shocked to announced it.
  21. We're having a All-STar selection meeting in the chat. It's like a golden globe party.......except MUCH more gay.
  22. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) God i hope he gets in by a huge margin. The problem is we had twins and cub fans voting against us. We did it last year though with pods and i think we did it again. Let's be honest, nearly the entire nation voted against AJ. I'm interested about San Francisco. They may dislike AJ, but do they really want to be reminded of Liriano? I guarantee Sabean didn't cast one for him.
  23. RALLY DOUGLY!!!!! RALLY DOUGLY!!!!!11
  24. And don't quit voting once 5:00 rolls around. Vote until it tells you to stop voting. Last year this happened several minutes after 5:00. Who knows if those were counted, but I have no idea whether whichever clock MLB uses to keep time is off from my computer. Just keep going until a notice is given.
