And That's A White Sox Loser
QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) was guillen not watching the game today? In a race thats gonna be this close we can't be giving away games with decisions this poor Someone in the gameday thread brought up a good comparison with Logan. Guillen continued to pitch him in tight situations to determine his effectiveness. When he failed, he was demoted. It didn't take two months to make a decision. If Politte were on the Cubs it would take Baker half a season to have the balls to remove him from the bullpen. You have to believe Guillen conceeded (in some small way) the game to have a good look at Politte. If losing today means not losing several more games in the future because of him, it's probably a win in Guillen's mind.

And That's A White Sox Loser
Seen a similar thread posted before without anyone complaining. We should always have a thread available to discuss a game -- win or lose. Before the series began, I thought -- as I do with most series -- that winning 2/3 would be suffucient. Even with two victories, one in dramatic fashion, it's hard to overlook today's game. Gullien's managing, Buehlre bed wetting, and Politte's typical performance all were hard to ignore. What made it especially difficult is we destroyed perhaps one of the best pitchers in the national league. Even Vazquez should have been able to hold such a lead. It's discouraing watching Buehrle pitch like this against the Cubs of all teams. This better be one of those "one bad start a year" occasions.

White Sox vs. Cubs July 2 Game Thread
Since 1998, we've had, what, 4 or 5 instances where the Sox have won the first two games and failed to win the third? We can't seem to sweep these bastards. It's always an ugly loss for the third game.

LOL. OH s***, THIS IS HILARIOUS. I'm sorry to laugh, but Politte is done.

AL Central Central
Could Liriano and Buehlre's start from this afternoon be any different? Good -- 8IP, 3H, 0ER, 12 SO. BAD -- 5IP, 13H, 10ER, 4 SO, 3HR.

And thanks to Politte's poor pitching we're behind 4 runs opposed to 2.

You Politte apologists have absolutely nothing now. Look at him. He can barely hold up his diapers with a six run, 7th inning deficit. Guillen has to console the poor bastard. LOL. Personally, I don't need someone like this pitching down the stretch.

QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Come on, we're 53-27. Let's not start this again. Regardless of the record, our bullpen doesn't need a reliever guaranteed to give up a run nearly every appearance.

Politte can't pitch in close games, can't pitch in blowouts. I'm really tired of looking at him. He needs to leave immediately.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) I'd agree with you here especially about Santana. Right now Liriano hasn't done it enough for me to put him as high as Santana. Who knows what's going to happen next year or the rest of this year even. Way to go Paul! I know how people feel about the topic and I'm not going to start another discussion. Just don't want to hear anyone put Buehrle on a level of either Santana or Liriano.

I have to say I'm absolutely disgusted with Buehrle. I don't give a f*** about wind conditions or merely a bad day with location. You score 6 runs off Zambrano, more often than not, you expect to win. Zambrano is pitching to one of the best offensive teams in the league whereas Buehrle's pitching to the worst. I don't expect 11 runs on the board. I'm going to bring it up only once, but when people criticize me for putting Liriano and Santana in a league above Contreras and Buehrle these are prime examples. Neither pitcher would EVER give up 11 run....EVER. Regardless of conditions.

Chat room's open. Just woke up and need an explanation for this score. 11-6? With Buehrle on the mound? What the f***?

7/01 Games
Interested in Broadway's start. I can only assume it matched Garza's 8 inning, 2 hit, 7 strikeout perfromance from two days ago.

Greg Couch's Aritcle
http://www.suntimes.com/output/couch/cst-spt-greg021.html I know few would be surprised if Baker were fired tomorrow. I just found it odd reading Coach's article. Almost as if he knows ahead of all of us yesterday was Dusty's final act. It would surprise me a little bit. I've been under the impression Baker would remain with the Cubs until the season's conclusion. With Hendry seemingly backing him and the likelihood Cubs finishing 4th I figured a manager change wouldn't be warranted. Guess not. Just having "The Dude" in uniform must be wearing thin on management. Personally, I wouldn't have had the balls to write such in such a definitive manner unless I was 100% sure he would be fired. You have to imagine nearly every Cub fan reading the paper tomorrow will have the same impression. Hell, they may even applaud Pierzynski for finally pushing Baker's job status over the edge. You people have the same impression? If Baker isn't fired, Couch won't be looking too good. He should know Mariotti has a monopoly on making predictions/statements without being held accountable later.

The guy who "threw" the ball back on the field
I wouldn't generalize an entire fanbase off of two fans. But I'll say this -- it's easier to make generalizations about a fanbase after several hundred fans are throwing trash on the field. I'm not going to believe we're dealing with four year old kids who merely mimmick what they see without realizing the consequences. These people were fed up with their team and took advantage of the situation to throw s*** on the field. Are all Cub fans trash throwing ass-clowns? Obviously not. But you'll be hard pressed to find many who opposed the incident. This is the key difference. I'll repeat it again for clarity -- it's not that all Cub fans throw garbage, but how they feel it's justified. Read their MLB and ESPN message boards. No matter what you think of the posters who frequent the boards, they're typically a fair representation of what most fans believe. Difference between Ligue and this is the percentage of Sox fans opposing the incident is far above those of our North side counterparts.

The guy who "threw" the ball back on the field
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) does garbage tossing mean the Cubs fans can't hold fans on the field over Sox fans anymore? No. Unless someone threw themself onto the field. It really depends on how much coverage the incident receives in the media. Even now, I haven't seen any replays of how much or what exactly was thrown onto the field. On the way home I was flipping between radio stations and caught a gem from Bruce Levine. In his mind, "typical Sox fans" were responsible for throwing trash on the field following AJ's HR. Mongo McMichaels (who I actually enjoy listening) justly ripped him. I don't know how that scenario makes sense, but Levine was obviously upset his team wet themselves.

The guy who "threw" the ball back on the field
Today I joined a group of friends chilling outside Wrigley Field on Sheffield. Never done it before, so I didn't know what to expect -- but it wasn't a terrible experience. Better than stepping inside the Urinal. What made the experience worthwhile was AJ's homerun, and hearing the Sox fans let out a roar as it sailed over the bleachers and about twenty feet away from where I was standing. If FOX would have held a shot of the crowd on Sheffield they would have seen a large contingent of Cub fans screaming their asses off. In a way, I feel pity for them. When the garbage began raining on the field shorty thereafter everyone within my vicinity felt it was justified. No one felt embarrassed as they should. These people would probably throw a brick on the field if given one.

chone figgins
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) Good luck with that one. Don't need it. In the world where Figgens and Crede are comparable there's a Jon Garland pitching with balls.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) The posters at HalosHeaven say that Figgins for Crede would be a fair swap. Haha. I'll counter with Figgens and a top pitching prospect for Garland.

Gooch has had several terrible AB's in a row. When he strikes out swinging it's never pretty.

I think McCarthy may have needed only about three long strides to reach first base on that out.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) Pierre was SAFE. Maybe by a finger -- at most. You could also argue he may have missed the base entirely. Keep them to two runs and the argument won't matter.
