  1. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) Runs are gonna be hard to come by this night. We need to get Gooch in. If "hard to come by" you mean "in droves," then yes. Claussen has absolutely nothing on his pitches. I can't believe CSN's radar gun, but what I observe from my own eye, movement on his fastball is limited. From the AB's we've seen thus far, no one appears fooled. And let's not forget Garcia is pitching as well.
  2. Griffey made to look like a dam' foo right there.
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) In a deal for Miggy, would you rather deal B-Mac if you have to give up more, or deal Joe Crede if you could give up less? Unfortunately, I doubt Florida inquires about Crede considering his arbitration status expires one year sooner than Cabreras. It's obvious he'd depart as quickly as possible. McCarthy and Fields are two players which Florida would rather accept. Probably would have to throw in another prospect, perhaps Lumsden. Not a fan of any scenario in which McCarthy/Fields/Lumsden are packaged together; even for Cabrera. These types of deals have a way of backfiring.
  4. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) Your post doesn't necessarily conflict with mine, the one you quoted. So what specific part(s) of my post do you disagree with? Here it is again: I hate that reasoning. Any time Ozzie's passion gets out of control he isn't responsible because that's just his personality? Bulls***. Wrong is wrong no matter what type of "flavor" a person has. You're right. More than answering your post directly I was citing Kalapse's "Ozzie being Ozzie" phrase. It's more a quote used for his apologists who support everything he says regardless of content. To address your post directly, he is responsible for his personality. I'm certain the White Sox organization wishes he would tone down his attitude. I just don't care what he says. Offensive or not, I don't place much creedence in any manager's comments. Whether it's Guillen, Baker, or Cox. I don't intend for anyone to believe I'm condoning what he says. He'll continue using foul language in interviews and insulting opposing players/managers when he deems fit. Whenever the next controversy abrupts and people are once again complaining, I'll look past it. Unless it happens to directly affect the product on the field.
  5. Driving under the influence of alcohol is reckless regardless of the automobile or speed, but when you consider he was behind the wheel of a 450HP engine with a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08, driving 120mph, it's ridiculous. Those were additional factors beyond alcohol consumption which made it dangerous for anyone on the road. It's a shame he probably won't learn from this. He won this afternoon's start, BTW.
  6. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) I hate that reasoning. Any time Ozzie's passion gets out of control he isn't responsible because that's just his personality? Bulls***. Wrong is wrong no matter what type of "flavor" a person has. Accept it. He's responsible for his actions, obviously, just don't expect a transformation in personality. He's said in numerous interviews from the Chicago Tribune to Outside the Lines he's not going to change. I'm not professing "Ozzie being Ozzie," I just don't care. It's that simple. I watch baseball for baseball, not a manager's comments. Show up the entire fanbase for all I care. Just make the correct managerial decisions on the field when it counts.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Ozzie and our broadcaster made complete asses of themselves, and the fanbase for the most part ignored it and jumped to their defense. I didn't ignore the situation or jump to eithers defense. I just don't sympathize with Tracey's situation. Tough luck, kid. Pitch well and you'll be up in September.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) So when does redandwhite drop by to tell us how this was a coup for the Sawx and we picked up their garbage and they got a diamond in the rough to help them climb over the top of the mountain. Never. I believe he's banned. I was surprised as anyone to hear this trade announced. Especially around this date. Perhaps Boston has another relief pitcher in the minors who will replace Riske, and they're attempting to receive a situational lefty with low value. Williams seems to shine in these types of low-key moves. He certaintly did his job here. Much better option than Tracey or Montero.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Flash, you quite possibly have the best avatar in the history of the world. You realize this is the Czech Republic flag, right?
  10. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) Just to reiterate, for the 4 MILLIONTH time...Tracey threw at Blaylock not once, but TWICE. The fault here is on Vasquez, NOT Tracey...but instead, Ozzie rips into Tracey in plain view...its bushleague. I realize most people will openly criticize Guillen, but is no one else maddened by the fact Tracey missed Blalock not once, but TWICE. Either his control is terrible enough to where he can't willfully find his location, or he was too emotionally charged -- in a blowout, mind you -- to hit his target. How could we expect contributions in key situations from someone who can't fulfill a simple assignment.
  11. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:50 AM) OG needs to learn you cannot do the over the top s*** 100% of the time, clubhouse may not appreciate how Tracey was treated in front of everyone. Guillen would be irate if a player did that to him. OG needs to learn alot about managing people. He won't change. That's the Guillen we're going to have to deal with. He's a passionate Latin manager who -- more often than not -- crosses the boundaries. I'm not surprised he did it. Honestly, I'm more upset Vazquez couldn't take it within himself to hit a batter. This is speculation on my part, but I believe he was more concerned with keeping Texas off base than retaliating for his catcher. Probably didn't have any confidence in himself and was unwilling to give TExas extra baserunners.
  12. I feel absolutely no sympathy for Tracey. Yes, the situation displays Guillen's inability to control himself. But, I guess I simply don't care. When you think about the intricacies of baseball and what a pitcher is supposed to accomplish, not hitting a stational target such as a player indicates bad control. I don't care that he didn't honor Guillen's wish. I care that his control is so erratic he can't hit the strikezone OR a person when instructed. With Politte arrival guaranteed it was inevitable either him or Montero would be demoted. I don't even want to hear anyone suggest this will mentally deflate him. Unless his manhood was insulted or the prospect of never pitching again was threatened, it's Tracey's duty to properly rebound. People who live outside of baseball deal with situations much worse than a manager insulting someones inability to hit a batter. I'm positive if Tracey pitches well in Charlotte he'll be promoted in September. I'm sure -- although people will certaintly disagree -- Guillen realizes he reaction was unwarranted.
  13. If this team is truly upset, and intends to retaliate, NOTHING would be more fitting than defeating Texas tomorrow. Personally, I supported retaliation because what happened to Pierzynski was blatant. As I mentioned earlier in the game day thread, this entire system of issuing warnings is terrible. It gives one team an open opportunity to hit the opposing team. That just can't be allowed. Unfortunately, Ozzie removing Tracey after one batter made it sort of obvious our intentions were to hit Blalock. There's probably going to be warnings issued before tomorrow's game. What we need tomorrow from Buehrle is to pitch inside regardless of warnings. Don't have it affect his game. Also, if we happen to be leading late with a sizable lead, simply bring Jenks into the 9th inning. Let Texas saulk over that for a year.
  14. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Because Ozzie is petty and unprofessional. I'll admit it's nonsense to demote someone based upon missing a hitter, but goddam--is it really that tough? Pitchers are responsible for hitting locations the size of a softball from 60ft away at 90+ mph, but yet, can't hit a body standing still? And he didn't even come close to hitting Blalock. That should be an indication of his poor control if nothing else.
  15. Rangers tagging up with a 6 run lead in the 8th inning and taking the extra base? Yeah, tell me "no lead is safe in Arlington," but it's obvious Texas is stomping all over us. This is embarrassing. Game needs to end quickly.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Yup, the scrubs with the best record in the minors. Pretty obvious that Charlotte team has NO talent. It's even more obvious there's a distinct difference between minor league baseball and the majors. How were Felix Diaz's numbers before promotion? Heads, I would expect you more than anyone to know AAA is often comprised of career minor leaguers. Answer this for me: who from the Charlotte squad could be called up and IMMEDIATELY contribute to our ballclub. How would Fields do? Would his OBP be above .300, yet alone .430?
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) He threw at him twice! Don't you think four straight pitches at him would be a little too much? The hell does it matter? Throw at him two times or fifty, atleast do what you're told. As if Guillen removing him after the out didn't make it obvious enough. Tracey failed at hitting a f***ing batter. Send him back to the minors with the rest of the scrubs.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) I would think he'd be gone for that. That and the fact that he has zero control and will get rocked up here. So, would you say Tracey was another successfull showing from our minor leagues?
  19. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) I think Ozzies pretty pissed Sean didn't do it. Considering the whole "the team is a family" stuff. Farmer said Tracey was mad at himself... Why didn't Vazquez retaliate? I'm not going to entirely blame Tracey. We all know his control is suspect. Just another weak minded White Sox pitching prospect unable to record outs when told, or hit batters when told.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) I just rewound my Tivo and it looks like AJ sticks out his right arm and points just before Tracey's first pitch is thrown. Interesting. And Tracey couldn't even hit his target! Tell him to hit a batter and he'll throw a strike.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Ozzie's a petty ass if he pulls Tracey for missing Blalock. What a waste of an outing. Only 1 batter? It's very obvious if he did. Why not wait until the inning is over? Hard to justify removing Tracey in a game decided by 6 runs because of a certain matchup. It would have been more valuable for the health of our bullpen to leave out Tracey to decide the inning. Vazquez should have done his own dirty work and hit a batter.
  22. Does anyone believe Tracey's one responsibility was hitting Blalock? It's odd to me he's removed after recording an out in a game decided by 6 runs. EDIT: Nice to see several of you thought the same way. Too bad Guillen couldn't have made it more obvious.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Great AB Pods. And with that, I'll check on Josh Fields game and salivate at our future LF. You should know by now the route our minor leaguers take once they've been promoted. Fields will come up with high expectations and fail immediately.
