If KW trades Lumsden, would you be pissed?
QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) I for certain would be pissed because this guy is a good lefty with excellent stuff. I'd like to see what he has in the majors before he gets shipped out. I don't know if he will ever get there in our organization though, because of our surplus of starting pitching. Thoughts? Since this is hypothetical, yes, I would be very pissed. Lumsden may be the only starting pitching prospect capable of contributing within the next several years. I'd like to have SOME leverage when our current starting rotation approaches the end of their deals. It'd be especially beneficial in situations where we're not going to have to worry about outbidding teams for starters on the market because an ingrown, cheap, left-handed power pitcher is ready to be promoted. We can only hope he continues pitching well.

Zambrano to South Side?
If Zambrano ever pitches for the White Sox it's at the end of his career when he's throwing below 90mph and no other ballclub is willing to accept his antics without results.

Series Preview: White Sox vs. Tigers
I'll be satisfied winning 2/3 in the upcoming series. Atleast gain some ground, even if it's 1 game. What absoutely CANNOT happen is being swept. It won't decide the season, but it's definitely a scenario we should avoid.

Rumor heard during Phillies-Dodgers game...
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) You are correct but his ass is gone in offseason! I doubt that. As much as I would like to drive Garland out of Chicago myself, if Williams were to realistically trade him we'd have to: first, eat a substantial portion of his salary; and secondly, accept the nice shiney collection of Coasta Rican baseballs the other teams sends over. Atleast with Garcia we could expect several good prospects in return. Honestly, in my perfect world, Garcia AND Garland would be gone after this season. First order of business would be to trade Garica to a National League ballclub and rape their minor league system. From the ashes arises our Liriano, who emerges to replace Garcia. The baseballs received for Garland would be enough, since we would no longer have to put up with his maddening inconsistency. Personally, I would haven't to hear people tell me how well he pitched, and how the boxscore didn't tell the whole story after giving up 5ER.

MAKE A DEAL
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) lol I know I'm in desperate mode but why not bring Shingo back, he can't be TOO much worse than the bullpen right now. He wouldn't be much worse........ Problem is, he'd fit in with the rest of the pack. Giving up hard hit outs, screaming line drives, continually walking batters after getting ahead 0-2, and serving up HR's. Let Shingo stay in Japan.

MAKE A DEAL
Check our minor league system. Surely there's one contributing arm.

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) Huntsville 7 Barons 3 W- Dillard (3-4) L- Broadway (4-3) Lance fell behind batter after batter that cost him with 7 walks in 4.2 IP on Offense the Barons only had 7 hits and continue to struggle with the bat. So, is this what happens when a supposed control pitcher with no stuff fails? Broadway can't afford to walk 7 batters over 18 innings, yet alone 4.2. If anyone were to watch Rheinecker and Buehrle battle alongside each other this afternoon, they'd realize control is everything for soft tossers. Hell, does Broadway even hit above 86 mph? Both would have Lance beat in the velocity department if he doesn't. Without velocity and control, Broadway is simply batting practice. Needs to avoids starts such as those.

Jeff Nelson to DL
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) The red flags were all over the place regarding our bullpen this year. For crying out loud we had a single A guy in our pen on opening day. Of course there was. For everyone who opened their minds and questioned whether Cotts/Politte would have numbers similar to 05', or McCarthy could even adjust to inconsistent work. Not to mention our organization promoted a single A player to our bullpen. Yes, he dominated Spring Training; but there's a reason few teams follow a similar path. As has been said before, trading Marte and Vizcaino wasn't a poor decision in itself. Not trading for pitchers capable of duplicating their numbers was. This was neglected. Our idea seemed to be, "well, we have 9 lefties here in Spring Training. Maybe one will pitch well."
-
Something I found funny while at the game tonight
Politte is atrocious. I nearly vomited my nachos after watching screaming line drive after screaming line drive fall onto the field. Regardless of Anderson's misplay in CF, Politte pitches have some magnetic pull to the opposition's bats. Best solution is to keep him in the back of the bullpen. If he's going to bounce back, he'll have to do so in blowouts such as today. The dropoff of Politte into Felix Diaz territory has taught me something I wish Williams could adopt. This philosophy concerns veteran relievers who have career years. YOU TRADE THEM IMMEDIATELY. If next year we trade for a pitcher whose been around the league, and Coop immediately revives him, his ass better be gone for prospects the proceeding season.

Jeff Nelson to DL
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) f*** Jeff nelson and his rolling slider. Hes done. Yet, last week I was criticized for not believing Nelson would become an effective addition to our bullpen. It was clear as f***ing daylight he wasn't going to offer us much of anything. I "gave him a chance," as others have insisted, and he showed us NOTHING. First indication should have been the Cardinals releasing him. Second should have been the obvious drop in velocity and over reliance on a hanging slider.

Don't blame the wind DJ. Mackowiak looks bad centering himself under an easy popup because he's terrible.

We need another inning, at the least, out of Vazquez. After the sixth inning concludes I don't want him out there again. When Texas sees him for the fourth time around I'm afraid of what may occur. It's not smart to have Vazquez continue pitching against a lineup of hitters who have put together quality hits.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Wow...actual intelligent, good baseball from our offense. It's been a while. It also made the sac fly an option, but when you don't need it, who cares? I know. I just like stirring trouble.

Podsednik would have scored regardless of the stolen base, but hey, atleast it increases his totals. It must have thrown off Padilla's rhythm!!!!1

Best bunt layed down in the last week, and it's by the player who's had around 30 AB.

Hey Cintron, this is actually an opportunity where you mayu want to make contact.

***6/3/2006 Official Game Thread***
Good battle from Mackowiak. Even if he fails to either move Crede across, drive him in, or walk, atleast he's put up a battle and increased Padilla's PC. I expected a failed bunt attempt when he entered the batters box.

***6/3/2006 Official Game Thread***
I'm becoming VERY irritated with Vazquez pitching like a c***. He gets up 0-2 on a hitter, is it guarantee he nibbles with changeups and sliders on the corner? AJ is calling the pitches, but it's Vazquez who's throwing everything wide off the plate. He must think this is 2003, in the National League.

I'm amazed Dye put together an absolutely pitiful AB. Straight fastballs, and he completely missed them. Not even close. He damn well better wear glasses if it's trouble picking up pitches, because we don't need those AB's from our best hitter. Padilla isn't exactly sneaky quick, now. I'm not giving him credit.
-
***6/3/2006 Official Game Thread***
Ugh, Dye looks terrible against Padilla.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) They are hot, we are not. Three little ground ball singles and a walk, then a hard single. They are VERY hot. Who gives a s*** how hot they are? Good pitching defeats good hitting. Vazquez better not pull this bulls*** again, or else he'll be lucky to escape with only 2 runs.

You people are becoming too lazy
Prior to this week, I made a habit of browsing this forum to check up on the progress of our minor league teams. I could always count on a thread dated, for example, "5/27" with summaries of games and performances from noteable players. I liked it. Very simple. Now, I have to manually search individual teams' websites and.....unfortunately, WSI. I had no idea Lumsden was given the Felix Diaz treatment last week because no one reported on it. DO YER JOB, Futuresox!!!!11

6/2/06: Rangers @ SOX
Offense needs to help Garland out. It should be considered a minor miracle he's held Texas in check for this long.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) By catching onto him, he means they kick the living crap out of him. Yes. And by that time, we can hear " Atleast Garland pitched well for 5 innings. Just got away from him in the 6th."
