  1. There--Cora's mistake ERASED. Unless you're under the impression Dye being held at third would have automatically led to a run.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) You never know though what happens if he holds the runner. Crede getting a hit to leadoff the next inning only makes it seem like a worse decision. In the past, we got to Rogers early (Frank usually crushed him). However, Rogers would settle down as the game went on. Bad decisions in the 1st inning against Kenny Rogers shouldn't follow a good offensive team for 8 more innings. Just as good pitchers overcome errors, good offensive clubs have to overcome situations such as those which happened between Cora and Dye. Remember, we're not going up against Santana where ever run is valuable. No different than any of the countless stolen bases which led to outs, only to be proceeded by doubles which would have scored a runner. Cora's play yesterday should have amended that anyways.
  3. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) I am not defending Cora for being retarded, I am just saying for some reason it seems to have worked out more often for not for him. I bet if he gets 5 or 6 people thrown out at home in a few game stretch he will be unemployed. I'm already tired of hearing about the play after several innings. If the decision alone decides the game we obviously had troubles scoring runs and holding Detroit. I'd be more upset if it were later in the game, or only 1 out. Not worth discussing.
  4. Didn't forsee surgery, but knew from the moment reports surfaced of his velocity he was meat. If only I had the search feature available. There were numerous people giving myself and others flack for doubting his ability.
  5. Mackowiak in LF? Uh oh. You know the ball will somehow find him.
  6. Let me compliment Guillen here for leaving in Anderson. His defense here is crucial, and since the lead is taken and Detroit has three AB's left, we need him.
  7. OMG!!!! WE'RE DROWNING!!! WE'RE DROWNING!!!
  8. Atleast advance the runners Cintron. Just a short roller up the first base line. Can anyone expect Cintron to walk in consecutive appearances?
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) I'm a BA backer, but time is running out for him. Yet another fine prospect from the Whtie Sox organization, where failure is expected upon arrival. If he only would hit .220-.240, none of these discussions would exist. Is it really that difficult to expect your CF prospect to hit his weight? We're not asking him to immediately duplicate Rowands numbers now. Just something which doesn't cause embarrassment.
  10. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Reinbecker is going to be a really good pitcher and so is Robertson. We are just running into some good pitchers lately. Well, that's what happens when you battle teams above .500. Typically, we're going to run into good pitchers. We can't continue to have these feelings among our members where we shrug our shoulders and just accept it. Bulls***. Sox need to first, learn how to defeat lefthanded pitching; and secondly, defeat quality lefthanded pitching at that.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Who wants to take the bet that Ozzie will put Freddy out for the 7th? Only way I'd consider that bet is if we come back and tie the game.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Garland, no matter how bad he does this year, will have more value than Garcia. Who do you think Ozzie would rather keep.....Garcia, or Garland? Have you seen Garland's contract beyond this season? He'll be paid 10+ million the next several seasons, whereas Garcia is 8 million and has only one year remaining. f*** Guillen on this topic. If it's his input which keeps Garcia here when he's obviously our best option in a trade, then he should be ignored. I'd rather trade Garland anyday, but no one will take him unless we're willing to eat a large amount of his contract.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) We're not going to try and trade him. No chance. Yes we are. If Williams doesn't, he's certifiablly baseball retarded. McCarthy NEEDS to be in the starting rotation. Even if he ends the season on a role, with respectable role, we're wasting his talent. Someone needs to go. No one will touch that heaping pile of garbage Garland, Buehlre and Count obviously aren't going anywhere, and Vazquez is still signed for several more years. Garcia could and should go.
  14. Anderson's production certaintly isn't responsible for our recent troubles, but neverless, his offense is terrible. Embarrasing for everyone who's watching. What's encouraing about his approach is he's willing to take a walk. That's fine; it shows discipline. It's his swing when contact is made that needs MUCH more refining. Another problem we have is no one is available to take his place. So when you think about it, there's no immediate contributions ready in ANY position from our minor league teams. No pitcher, catcher, MIF, OF, RP which could come up. That's pathetic.
  15. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) it's gotten to the point where I feel bad for Brian. I don't. Haven't the Yankees just promoted several minor league OF's who have hit well in place of Sheffield and Matsui? If the team with practically no system can have production from their system why can't we?
  16. Anderson fails. Again. Time for Garcia to hold.....the Tigers....at 3 runs. LOL. I'm sorry, I can't even type it without laughing. He's in there for two more innings, which I believe he will be, expect this lead to increase.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) I would say that our offense should have at least 5 runs by now, so im not really putting that much blame on FG at this point. 86 pitches through 4 innings is unacceptable considering our shoddy bullpen. Both deserve equal blame.
  18. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) That's alright...We got 1 back. We just need freddy to hold em...
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) You would think Sox fans would understand its probably not the best idea to judge Freddy by his 1st inning, but I guess people never learn... Yeah, just as we're not supposed to judge Garland by his boxscore, or how he pitched before he was removed.
  20. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) Freddy is pitching 82-84mph tonight. That isn't going to get it done. Unless Comcast's gun is off, which I don't believe it is. It looks 84 mph off his hand. We're not going to win with soft-tossing Garcia.
  21. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Non-Horror fans probably have no idea what a wonderful film Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetery Man) is. Incredibly beautiful in it's cinematography, some great humor, a ton of stuff to leave open for interpretation, and some great FX, including the coolest Grim Reaper to ever appear in film. I may be one of the few members on Soxtalk who has seen this movie. Granted, it was a long time ago, but I vividly recall how good it was. In relation to other Italian horror films it's practically an instant classic. Typically, since European films consist of poor production value, it's difficult to convince people of their value. Even Dario Argento -- genuinely regarded as Italy's Alfred Hitchcock -- leaves something to be desired in regards to scripts. If anyone were to heed your advice and rent/buy Cemetery Man, they'd atleast be witness to a film with a noticeable budget. What I enjoy from Italian horror films is the emphasis placed upon assembling an effective atmosphere. Films such as "Demons," "Inferno," "The Church" (from director of Cemetary Man), and "Suspiria" (especially) are great examples. Problem is, I haven't heard of quality films exiting Europe lately. I know Argento is supposedly in the beginning stages of creating the final film in the "Three Sisters" trilogy, but besides that, nothing is happening. Now, back on the topic. Here are my underrated/hidden gems. I figure I'll keep it in the horror/suspense genre since I know what's considered low-key. -Suspiria -Session 9 -The Gate -Angel Heart -Dead/Alive -Fright Night -Jacobs Ladder -Candyman ( I know this is well-known, but people often don't give it credit) -Don't Look Now -Full Circle -The Beyond -Videodrome All I have for now.
  22. I'm convinced the White Sox purposely drafted a Lance Broadway clone just to irritate me. Why didn't they take Pedro Beato? I'll be sure to follow Beato's progress through Baltimore's minor league system, as I have with Carrillo. Can anyone tell me who Minnesota drafted? I'm guessing it's a hard throwing, right hander with a plus slider who'll be dominating our lineup for years.
  23. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) I for certain would be pissed because this guy is a good lefty with excellent stuff. I'd like to see what he has in the majors before he gets shipped out. I don't know if he will ever get there in our organization though, because of our surplus of starting pitching. Thoughts? Since this is hypothetical, yes, I would be very pissed. Lumsden may be the only starting pitching prospect capable of contributing within the next several years. I'd like to have SOME leverage when our current starting rotation approaches the end of their deals. It'd be especially beneficial in situations where we're not going to have to worry about outbidding teams for starters on the market because an ingrown, cheap, left-handed power pitcher is ready to be promoted. We can only hope he continues pitching well.
  24. If Zambrano ever pitches for the White Sox it's at the end of his career when he's throwing below 90mph and no other ballclub is willing to accept his antics without results.
  25. I'll be satisfied winning 2/3 in the upcoming series. Atleast gain some ground, even if it's 1 game. What absoutely CANNOT happen is being swept. It won't decide the season, but it's definitely a scenario we should avoid.
