The Sh*t Pitching Stops Here: Sox @ Yanks
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Yuck. Just one of those weekends ....which exposes your pitching. We're not a VAUNTED staff anymore. I doubt the league looks at probables against Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, Vazquez and shakes out of fear.

QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) hey, remember when freddy won game 4 of the world series..........yeaaaaaaaaah. Yeah, that's in my memory bank with 2005 Politte. Both events have past, and unfortunately, both are now BAD.

The Sh*t Pitching Stops Here: Sox @ Yanks
Garcia's bed wetting this afternoon certaintly didn't heighten his stock. I can only imagine how many scouts (Mets, among them) came here to watch Garcia pitch. They'll probably leave laughing at any lopsided proposal after watching this. He's f***ing us over in more than one way.

Why does our starting pitching suck?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) If I'm Kenny, I'm looking to UPGRADE the rotation if at all possible and if that means dealing a guy like Freddy and someone else for another starter than so be it. As long as that "someone else" isn't McCarthy or Lumsden.

Hawk and DJ Today
We're NOT going to win a World Series championship with this rotation performing as it currently stands. No one can stand to convince me "everything is alright," or citing some variation of dark cloud nonsense. Go ahead and bulls*** me about offensive teams in the past such as Boston or New York winning World Series, but we're all aware pitching/defense is our path to success. When one constructs a team around starting pitching, and those starters aren't performing, I believe it's understandable to be concerned. Think about this -- we make the playoffs and have to face New York, or Boston, does anyone feel confident of a starter past Contreras? This s*** needs to turn around quickly.

Cliff Politte DFA'd
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) Anyone want to bet that game one next Friday night (when Texas comes to town) that Tracey rights a wrong? Should be interesting. I don't believe it'll occur because it couldn't be less obivous. Shouldn't even be considered with so much attention drawn on the issue. If Tracey has to hit a batter to vilify himself in the mind of Guillen, they'll probably be several opportunities down the stretch.

Buehrle
QUOTE(TLAK @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) Ozzie: "Right now, the way I see it is the cutter is not cutting, the changeup is not changing and the fastball is not fast," said Guillen of Buehrle, whose ERA jumped to 4.43. "When you are facing a team like that, you have to bring those pitches down and make pitches. If Buehrle stays up, he's going to get killed. That's not his style." He damn well better find those qualities, and quick. What we're witnessing these last several starts is what happens when someone with a sub 90 fastball and limited deception has no location. He's absolutely killed.
-
Well that's a White Sox loss
What Buehrle did today was absolutely embarrassing. Is this what we should expect from an alleged ace? Go ahead and defend him. Tell me how our defense let him down. What I witnessed was a soft tossing pitcher (whose even softer this year than last) failing miserably. Our "ace" sure as hell can't pitch against Boston or New York, two legitimate playoff contenders. I wouldn't blame New York (and by extension ESPN) for laughing at our VAUNTED pitching staff. They've seen nothing but bed wetting after bed wetting. Even Contreras was hardly fooling anyone yesterday, and he's without question our best pitcher. I'm very upset with what I witnessed this afternoon. And even beyond Buehrle it's the entire pitching staff. They're all failing to live up to the expectations set upon them. These last several Buehrle starts honestly makes you question whether he's worthy of a 60 million dollar contract. Eating innings alone doesn't justify the absolute filth I witnessed on the field. Since the Cubs game, I'm just tired of watching him. As clean as I can put it, he needs to MAN UP. I just hope Lumsden is available by 2008 so atleast an option remains if Buehrle thinks he's an 11+ million dollar pitcher.

Garcia/Garland to the mets?
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Because how many times has it happened, and will these teams like the Mets give up a Mike Pelfrey for a Freddy Garcia, after they've already been burned once from a similar sort of deal before? Why not? Dbaho, if you were a general manager I can only imagine how you'd run your organization. You'd never try and persue top prospects from desperate teams because they seldom occur, and your minor league system would be baron because, "How often does a Liriano or Garza come along?" No need to persue top talent when soft tossing, projected 5th starters are available in the draft. Lopsided trades are created out of situations such as those facing Minaya. If he's not willing to overpay, he can take his chances elsewhere. This is what I expect from Williams-- not to play patty-cake and help out another national league team, but take more than necessary for his commodities. Commodities which don't have to be moved at this point. In addition to taking a risk with having a starter come back to bite us in possible postseason play, there's a possibility any prospect/BParm received falls apart. We're not completely safe on any deal. If Minaya --or any other general manager-- is willing to overpay and provide a package which is impossible to pass up, I wouldn't blame Williams for taking it. Every trade scenario is obviously different. Minaya may believe with the Marlins rebuilding process moving quicker than expected, and contracts expiring over the next several years for their club, their window is closing. Surrendering a top prospect, even in the presence of the Kazmir fiasco, may be possible in his mind since their payroll will always be high and money will always be available. For our minor league system, I'm under the philosophy you can't find a Liriano when you can't find a Neifi Perez. With these trade discussions, you don't persist for a Milledge, you're not going to get one. Of course it's Minaya's decision whether or not to accept, but if I were Williams, I wouldn't budge one bit from including him. No way in HELL am I trading either Vazquez or Garcia for merely bullpen help or fringe prospects.

Neal wet the f***ing bed this inning. I'm not blaming him for the loss, but apparently his "sneaky fast" fastball isn't doing much. Does he think this is 2003?

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) So, is this going to be a long night? Or a lot of bulls*** calls like that one on both sides? If I had to guess, I'd say the Yanks are going to have a good night. I don't know how the game will go from here, but if you look at what's already happened-- pathetic out from Ozuna, Widge scratching his balls, WIDE zone from Johnson, it's just one of those games where you feel things will get worse.

Are you kidding me? That pitch was nowhere near a strike. There's a Yankee strikeout call right there.
