  1. If we're scoring two runs the remainder of this game, we're going to have to put it up against some of the best. Liriano will probably go another inning. Then Rincon and Nathan. I can't f***ing believe I turn my TV off to notice it's 4-0, then turn it back on for this.

    Summer Jobs

QUOTE(Brian @ May 13, 2006 -> 04:44 PM) I remember working at Great America for a summer. Worst.job.ever. They treated employees like s***. My cousin worked there about 10 years ago and said it was perhaps the funnest job he ever held. Mentioned several times how his friends and him would typically steal hundreds of dollars from their post every week. As well as hitting on women all day while not doing much work at all. Guess things changed from the time he worked and you did.
  3. Yes, because someone (probably Northsidesox) will bring it up, all religions have their problems. Just happens those connected to Islam are attributed to far more violence than others. And as much as some people don't want to admit it, there's obviously ambiguous versus within the Quran which may be misinterpreted by those reading them. This is an issue. There may be a Christian backed, right-wing conspiracy constructed to soil Islam's reputation, but from what I've observed from my own unbiased eyes, this religion has a MAJOR image problem. Yeah, go ahead and tell me about Christianity's problems with the KKK, or what transpired 800 years ago in Europe. Islam is living three hundred years behind the rest of the civilized world. I wouldn't mock the "religion of peace" label, though. Even if you liberally calculate active terrorists associated with Islam, it wouldn't be enough to account for 1/50 of 1%. Problem is whenever something is attributed to Islam--aka., terrorist bombing, there's always the two groups. One suggests, mockingly, "religion of peace at it again..." Another replies, "You can't hold all Muslim's accountable! Chrisitians aren't exactly void of trouble!" I don't believe neither are right. As usual, the truth lies in between both arguments.

    Summer Jobs

This summer I'll be working security at the new Chicago Fire Stadium in Bridgeview. Also, depending on scheduling conflicts with my other job/school, I may work security at Soldier Field. It's actually a fairly light gig. Not certain of my exact duties besdies ushering, patrolling grounds and writing incident reports, but the job is typically one or two days a week. All dependent upon the Chicago Fire schedule, or whether there's a concert. I know fo shizzle I"ll be there for the B96 Summer bash!!!!@11
  5. I'm surprised Cub fans don't protest after today's game. I've had a blast watching it thus far. Barrett is whining on the field, players are forgetting how many outs there are, Guzman and Rusch have been terrible--it's been glorious.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 11, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) Do we even need BMAC to make a start now that we have a rainout today? Rainout? The game is nearly 4 hours from now...
  7. Yeah, our bullpen's overall ERA won't look too pretty after this evening.
  8. I don't know if the numbers support it, but from my memory, Sox seemingly take it to Anaheim's bullpen atleast one game per series. We're not talking about a collection of slouches either.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) Tough call here, but Pods should be able to steal on Shields. I forgot Anderson didn't get to 3rd. You don't have Victor Martinez behind the plate, remember. I don't like the idea of taking chances with Thome on deck.
  10. Think single Pods. Get atleast one run here.
  11. You know it's early when players such as Crede are mentioned by Hawk for MVP consideration. Yep, him and Chris Shelton are leading candidates for MVP of April. Too bad they're typically given out later in the season.
  12. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) Dye should have been taking on that 3-1 count. We need baserunners. That was stupid. I don't blame him for swinging. The pitch appeared to be around the middle of the plate. Whether he takes it or not it's a strike. Rather Dye take his chances with a fastball than defend himself against a biting curveball in a full count.
  13. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) We should give that trophy back because of haeger the horrible's performance tonight. Why do you hate freedom?
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) Really? I wasn't told 100 times, thanks. Don't worry about it. Everyone makes mistakes.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) Nah, the choking thing is your gig, I couldn't take that away from you. I apologize for enjoying a 3-run jack by my favorite baseball team. Apology accepted. I realize not everyone dislikes World Series Championships as I do.
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) What the f*** dude. You've driven your point into the ground and then some. Yes, we have some dumb people here, but even they'd get it by now. Stop. You can bring up the choking avatar if it makes you feel better.
  17. Anderson MUSCLES that ball out of here. Too bad Haeger couldn't throw a baseball tonight.
  18. Thank you Anderson for giving up on the ball.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) For a team struggling like the Angels were, Christmas came early for them. Nothing like Haeger to brighten up the morale of a struggling Angels team. Imagine if we actually faced a ballclub capable of taking walks, such as Oakland or New York.
  20. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Is he performing about as expected for anyone else, or is it just me? I expected failure, as I do every minor leaguer traveling through our organization. Doesn't make it any less aggrivating to watch. I'd rather have been wrong and watched Haeger throw a quality game. As I said earlier, 4 ER over 6 innings would have been expected. 6 walks is simply not good. Especially for a knuckleballer. Why swing your bat at all if he can't locate pitches? Atleast Molina prevented Haeger from his 7th walk. Unfortunately, his ERA rises again. Haeger's meatballs are eating up our infielders.
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) They are falling asleep in their positions from inactivity. Tough s*** for Haeger. He wants to pitch in a major league rotation one day, he can't have even half of these walk totals. Considering hit totals will likely be present for him (as well as any knuckleballer) and it's difficult to hold runners, issuing free passes isn't very conducive to winning.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) Come on Charlie, let's get through these first few guys with no walks this time. You're asking too much now. Not every pitching prospect walks less than 6 batters in their first outing.
  23. If we lose, I won't entirely blame Haeger either. So I'm not going to assign him as official scapegoat. Tough to win ballgames without baserunners.
  24. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 10, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) So you're saying he would have maintained a sub 1 ERA had we not called him up? No. It's inevitable his ERA would have risen regardless of this evenings performance. Just so happens when the event occurs, people will point to this walk-a-thon as the moment he began regressing. Balta (i'm too lazy to go back and quote you, so I'll answer your question here), I wouldn't have had a problem if he lasted 6 innings giving up 4 runs. His walks totals are atrocious. That's something which I know our organization won't tolerate. Passed balls will happen. Hits will happen. Now with a 4 run lead Haeger decides to pitch within the strikezone.....
