Is Nunez a spring training invitee or a minor league arm? I like his stuff--nice movement on his fastball and breaking pitches. Jenkins looked foolish on two in particular. -
I was browsing Comcast's OnDemand listings earlier this morning and came upon a show on Oxygen called "Campus Ladies." Not expecting much, I clicked on info and read a description of an episode detailing a woman's inability to experience an orgasm. Immediately I became intrigued, and decided to watch it. After viewing the episode, I was surprised--it was actually funny. Definitely not the empowered feminist drivel you may expect from Lifetime. Another episode available on Comcast was about the two women within the show--both central characters--becoming Lesbians. Equally funny as the inital episode I fiewed. One scene in particular features two friends of supposed lesbians, whom decide to call an add featured within a campus newspaper which claims to "Cure Homosexuality." The person called to respond, when asked about past successes, claims to have cured Karl Rove, Arnold, Kevin Spacey. An Indian kid responds, "I believe Kevin Spacey is back on the wagon." Nothingyou would expect from network comedies. Yeah, and I know what you're thinking--I AINT WATCHING NO DAMN SHOW ON THAT NETWORK! I'm wouldn't have either before this morning. Trust me, it's funnier than 98% of the supposed comedy shows on TV. If anyone happens to notice it scheduled for time when nothing else in on, consider watching it.

15 minutes from Oak Lawn to the Cell? LOL. Yeah, if you remove traffic, stoplights, and speed limits it is.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) From what I've heard, this kid is very cocky (in a good way) but that's the kind of confidence you need to succeed in the majors. He'll be fine. We'll see how well he pitches in DESERT STORM III when his faces perhaps the cockiest mf'er on the planet. Really, If he doesn't enter Kris Honel territory of cockiness then it's fine. Believing in yourself and your abilities should be a high priority, but hopefully he isn't thinking to himself, "I can get anyone out now!!"

How many babes will Konerko Steal this season?
Flash Tizzle replied to TheDudeAbides's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He'll steal more babes than bases, I'll guarantee that. -
What would you guys estimate Boone's GB/FB ratio this spring? Infinity:1? I haven't seen one ball hit higher than a players head. Next Saturday, Gullien needs to put together a true test for Boone. Prepare yourselves for an epic matchup: BOONE VS. BONDS: DESERT STORM III.

This will be the next Chan Ho Park disaster. You'd think organizations would reconsider long term contracts such as these after this. Probably not, though. Watch Wood bank in with an extended contract when he becomes a FA.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Wow. a win. What's that? Something which happens when you don't avoid lefty pitchers named Reynoso, Cotts, or Logan. -

This Cubs hitter up right now looks like Gary Busey's illegitimate child. -

FWIW, I believe this pitcher (Ardsma, or however you spell it) was the minor league prospect included with Williams in the trade for Hawkins. No doubt his fastball is good. Unfortunately, control isn't quite harnessed. Could be another instance Sabean is f***ed over by another general manager during a trade. He'll be no Liriano, but perhaps a relief pitcher like Bosner. -

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Doh, A.J. Burnett is already injured... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=47719 Definitely not good. Burnett and Wood are exactly the same type of player--all potential, no results. People are impressed with their 'stuff,' yet overlook their injury prone deliveries. lol, and he didn't even throw one pitch in the regular season. With AJ--like Wood--you have to automatically assume the worst. -

I'm glad he pitched well and all, but it was against fellow minor leaguers. Guillen has to find opportunities to pitch against major league talent. -

Vasquez appeared to tire this inning. His breaking ball was noticeably flat. -

QUOTE(Wanne @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Who was the prospect that Hawk mentioned in his KW story that he told him to clean his locker out for being disrespectful? Anybody got a clue? Not one clue. All Hawk mentioned was the particular prospect was lefthanded and from New Jersey. -

Borchard releasing his anger onto Rusch with that line drive! Knowing the Cubs luck with pitchers, he'll have a broken foot. The Cubs will lie about it, of course. -

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) LOL, Rusch is a gas can... and he's the Cubs' #2 starter to begin the season. I believe the Cubs consider Ol' Droopy ahead of him. -

LOL, and Rusch is their 3rd starter entering the season. Better hope Zambrano, Williams, Maddux, and whomever else can hold it down until Prior returns. -

That dive by Ramirez is exactly why he frequently injures/strains himself. I wouldn't expect every third baseball to be graceful, but he just looks ackward going for anything just out of his reach. -

It's funny when Hawk was talking about watching certain players on TV, and everytime you catch them they appear to be killing the ball. Aramis Ramirez is that player for me. Whenever I catch a Cubs game he seems to be absolutely killing the ball. He'd have to be batting .450 in the games I"ve watched. -
QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) I want to see pods do well. ............. About Hermanson, I don't like where this situation is heading. Even if he were healthy I wouldn't have anticipated stats mirroring his career numbers last season. Nothing--from his durability to his 'stuff'--would have convinced me otherwise. Now add in back issues, this problem can't possibly be resolved come April. This is what I believe will happen: he'll remain on the club, continually insist his back is fine, and basically become Soxtalk's whipping boy because health issues limit his effectiveness. I know Hermanson's personality enough to where you'd have to drag him off the field before he agrees to surgery. I understand the situation he's in--back surgery is inherently risky and may jeopardize his career. But is wincing on the mound after every follow-through worth it? Or meeting with Schneider frequently to limit the pain? Or putting management in a tough position because they certaintly don't want to suggest surgery, but if Hermanson's not completely healthy, atleast there's remains enough time before Opending Day to acquire bullpen help. If by some false assurance Hermanson remains on our roster, I would hope another arm not currently in camp would fill the last vacant spot. This scenario would push Boone Logan back down to the minors. However, when Hermanson's back inevitably falls off Logan can be promoted. I wouldn't approve of this, but it could be worse. If Hermanson doesn't reinjure himself pitching, then he surely will fielding the massive amounts of bunts opposing teams will put down.
