Nope. Game ends on a strikeout. Overall, nice game from our club today. Can't expect much from Redding and Nomo anyways.

It's not worth complaining, but atleast two pitches from the last AB should have ended the game. You almost expect a walk off HR now.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) ah, he already pitched? I must have missed it. My mistake, he pitched against Arizona's AAA affiliate earlier. As did Vazquez. Thome batted in the game as well.

Anyone hear that Thornton line? LOL. 2 innings, 5 hits, (missed how many runs scored), 5 strikeouts. This guy will haunt Cooper's dreams.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Or they're really struggling... I'm not a scout, but as DJ said he does have deception. I wouldn't mind him back. Although that is unlikely.

Damn. How often does a White Sox pitcher retire Mench on three straight pitches? Or retire him at all? That's almost comparable to a relief pitcher going 2 scoreless innings against Oakland.

Now that fastball on Iguchi was Cotts-esque. Not often do hitters miss a straight fastball down the middle unless there's some deception.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Sounds like Cotts. I never questioned his delivery, and whether or not it's deceptive. I'm merely judging his 'stuff' from watching him today.

I didn't notice anything special with Castro. Fastball low 90's; breaking ball not very sharp

Fabio Castro warming. Watch him absolutely mow through our lineup.

The Irrational Market
So he doesn't understand odds--what's his solution? How does he judge the most likely to win a World Series--Bill James newest book? Honestly, talk about an entire article devoted to nothing. Felt like I was reading a transcript from a Seinfeld episode. It comes off more of whining then actual constructive criticism. These 'odds' are established by people placing a certain amount of money on a team based on available information. Often, this may be unreliable or heavily biased due to media influence or past success. He realizes this, yet continues babbling. Not every Vegas junkie has a subscription to Baseball Prospectus--and thus could judge whether their projections match a team's Pythagorean theorem. The part where he alleges Minnesota and Cleveland are better ballclubs is hilarious. Cleveland--perhaps, but Minnesota? Can their stellar pitching suddenly create runs? Our f***ing rotation is six pitchers deep, offense and bench improved, and defense only marginally worsened--yet magically we're worse than both? Granted our bullpen is shakey, and the discussions pertaining to career years have been rampant--but even with our flaws we're still a top tier team in the American League. Certaintly better than Minnesota.

Some shake-up to occur?
I'll guarantee this lapse in control is due to Jenks coming to camp out of shape. Some days he'll throw 96-97, others--such as today--92-93. He may not be fully ready by the beginning of the year, and that's a shame. He damn well better learn from this experience next offseason. This team can't afford to not rely on someone as valuabe as he is.

Teen critical after Edens crash
State Police are never going to track down that car unless the owner has a guilty conscience-- or possible occupants confess to police. Advising citizens to look for a red car with no apparent signs of collision is unluckly to end successfully. Hell, even if you could miraculously locate the correct car AND note the drivers alibi places them within general vicinity of the accident, there's nothing beyond that.

Soxtalk and YASNY featured in Sports Illustrated
Should be an interesting few days. I would expect a sizable increase in traffic once this issue hits the stands. Personally, if I was unfamilar with Soxtalk and came across this website's reference within an article, I'd be interested in atleast browsing. Not that we should necessarily whore this for more members--but if legitimate Sox fans reading the article are interested in joining it's all good.

Soxtalk Responds to SI article
Good message. I honestly expected a response such as, "We sincerely apologize for unsubstantiated rumors..." I'm glad Soxtalk isn't backtracking on anything. This is an internet forum--such information, whether slanderous in nature or not, should be expected. Not our fault media outlets ran with it.

Soxtalk and YASNY featured in Sports Illustrated
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) That sounds pretty spot-on to me. I doubt any reputable journalist would take posts from an internet message board as fact or the base for nation-wide rumor, but, I, personally have found an uncanny resemblence between Soxtalk conjecture and Chicago White Sox beat reporters when it comes to personnel moves. I mean, uncanny. On this topic of Chicago Media members lifting material from Soxtalk, there's one person--perhaps the most well known in this city--whose raised my attention in the past. When Mariotti was on ESPN 1000, I recall several instances it was almost eerie how similar his comments were to posts on Soxtalk. I don't believe I posted on the issue, but someone--believe it was SS2k5--said something one morning about the Sox which Mariotti repeated WORD for WORD. It wasn't "Sox are terrible," but an assessment I recall ssk25 mentioning which struck me as familar after Mariotti said it. I hope this SI article doesn't change our website. And by change, I mean a WSI scenario where we're more concerned about appeasing the media than serving our own members. I doubt this would happen, but just want to throw it out there and hope it's shunned upon.

Soxtalk and YASNY featured in Sports Illustrated
I'm browsing through the steroid thread, and YASNY didn't post until #108. Whomever contributed to the article spent some time collecting their quotes. Also, several noted we weren't the website in which the rumors originated. A New York website (not cited) indicated two big names possibly tested positive for steroid use.

Soxtalk and YASNY featured in Sports Illustrated
It's interesting to note how much influence this site had on the issue. I mean, Soxtalk couldn't have been the only message board in the past to create threads regarding steroid speculation. Anyone want to create new rumor threads concerning Johan Santana's mysterious meeting with steroid distributers?

Soxtalk and YASNY featured in Sports Illustrated
Has our traffic exploded within the last several hours? This is awesome. You certaintly don't expect your message board to be mentioned within Sports Illustrated. I'm surprised the legions of Yankee and Astro fans don't make their way here. Now we can put on the beginning page, "As featured in Sports Illustrated." LOL. EDIT: Damn you addy. Stealing my jokes.
