QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) I think it's great that he's banning all these people for nothing more than a single negative post. That means we should see a nice increase in membership here at Soxtalk, the best White Sox forum on the internet! Unfortunately, not all of those banned members are (likely) aware of Soxtalk. When I look at this situation it really bugs me I have to criticize a fellow White Sox board. My hatred for their administrators and their odd, often unfair punishments and rules make it difficult to ignore. If anyone believes beer or myself are lying, or overstating PHG's lunacy, by all means check the Roadhouse thread out yourself and make your own judgments. Not even Iwritecode or Steff could spin this radical move.

QUOTE(Hermanson32 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) It's dusgusting if El Duque is making his next start. Brandon has done more than enough at this point to be our fifth starter. By the way, I love this site so far. Way better than White Sox Interactive which I was kicked off of for the same comment I just made. I noticed PaleHoseGeorge has finally lost his mind. In the roadhouse, he's collecting names of people doubting the club and denying them access to the website if they make the postseason. We should start doing this. It would sure root out the "dark clouds."

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) And the Sox are playing .500 since August and the Indians have benn very good. What the f*** is your point? The still aren't in the lead, and still do not have control of the AL Central let alone the AL Wild card. Sheesh, my ignore lists grows more and more everyday with these obnoxious pessimists whom would rather be correct than see the Sox win. Give it a rest. Santo, the point is mentioned within your post--the White Sox have been treading water while the Indians have had the best record in baseball since the All-Star break. Are you not concerned with the overall stagnant state of the offense, or the pitching against contending clubs? If you are tired of "obnoxious pessimists", and would rather ignore them, WSI is a click away. Except over there the roles are reversed and the pessimists are replaced with obnoxious optimists unable to admit problems or accept "dark clouds"

No denying this Indians team is determined. They looked at the scoreboard, noticed we were schlacked, knew they could finish a sweep and move within 5.5, and actually worked as a cohesive offensive unit and placed 10 runs on the board. UH OH. We're in trouble with the remaining head the head matchups if this offense is anywhere near its current state.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) The Red Sox? Actually, Red Sox are a closer fit to my description. I don't remember the White Sox hitting to the opposite field and not missing meatballs even during their hot streaks.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) 6-0 Indians. This is comical. We're in deep trouble unless this club finds its balls and reverts to its winning ways of September. Look at Cleveland--taking extra bases, having fun, hitting at all fields and not missing meatballs. Sounds like a certain team we knew from a few months ago.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) Isn't it amazing what a team that senses they're in a pennant race can do for their energy? Yet, I've been assured there is nothing to be worried about Apparently, since we've "owned" the Central Division--and by extension the Indians--we're going to be fine. I sense the collar becoming a little tight around this club. If this lead falls below 5, they might as well prepare for a national onslaught of criticism and laughter. Hopefully, I'll never have to post this picture again: But if we blow our lead, I want this posted in the banner at the top of the page. You can guarantee it'll be included as both my avatar and signature.

Watching Baseball Tonight on ESPN, wouldn't you know the collapse talk has already begun. Although Reynolds and Kurkstan believe our pitching won't endure a slide such as that of the 64' Phillies, it's started--people have noticed our dwindling lead and will be making comparisons to past clubs until we clinch.

I don't care how anyone rationalizes our sweep this weekend or attempts to spin it into something other than a choke. We were simply overmatched against a superior ballclub. This is becoming dire. Our team is showing its weaknesses against contending clubs, and worst of all, our starters appear to be tiring. It doesn't help our manager fails to give McCarthy an opportunity in the rotation. Not that McCarthy pitching would have effected the outcome this afternoon. My concern falls on Guillens emphasis of maintaining chemistry rather than allowing his team the best opportunity to win. Currently, BMac gives our club the best opportunity to win.

Guillen's press conference only seemed to reaffirm his faith in Hernandez. Believe he said Duque makes his next start. Someone (Williams) needs to sit Guillen down and tell him we no longer have a large cushion in the standings. We need this victories, and as of now, McCarthy gives our club the best chance to win. I don't care whether or not Hernandez is a veteran; but unfortunately, this seems to be the determining factor with Guillen. -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Well I doubt this guy is making it up. If he is, this is a very crappy post. This is the sort of news which members (such as myself) will cite for the unforseable future anytime Al Lopez posts a prediction. I'll go, "Hey, remember when you thought the White Sox fired Marte?"
-
QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) For lack of a better way to say it, but Ozzie told Marte to pack your bags and leave today. my source on this is a member of the organization. Damaso - he gone. Hold on--you're suggesting this organization "fired" Marte? We're just going to eat the remainder of his salary? Doesn't sound right.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Don't forget that Iguchi struggles for a few days after he gets a day off. I'm tired of Guillen resting our players in September. He may have rested them-- with good success-- for 4 months, but we no longer have a 15 1/2 game cushion in this division. Would it be too difficult to keep a consistent lineup for a week straight? -

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) McCarthy better be taking Hernandez' spot in the rotation. Knowing the usual process used throughout sports when dealing with a rookie replacing a veteran player, we still have to go through the motions. Including the following Guillen quotes: " I still have faith in El-Duque" "He's my big game pitcher" "You people believe McCarthy is Cy-Young lately" "Duque will make his next start" Not unless an injury occurs or several poor outtings will Guillen finally realize McCarthy is more worthy of a position in this rotation. -

McCarthy's delivery must be difficult for Guerrero to pick up the baseball. I've never seen him take four poor swings over two AB's. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) If the Sox fail to make the playoffs, I have a feeling he'll be the scapegoat, and not Ozzie. I've been saying similar sentiments for months. Although I never envisioned a collapse, I believed Williams would hold the blunt of criticism for failing to upgrade this club if we're quickly eliminated from the playoffs. It's doubtful he'll be fired this season, however. I realize how beneficial not trading for China-doll Griffey or Aubrey Huff has been, but you can't assume logic with journalists or the average fan. All they know is Williams sat on his hand both deadlines with a team desperately needing offense. -
QUOTE(JoshPR @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) Choke??? Why is it that a player has a bad game and he chokes? Sheesh cut them some slack, if it was up to a few here the Darn team would go 162-0 and if they would go 161-1 some would still b**** :banghead Today's matchup was a key battle of American League Cy-Young candidates. This series was touted as both a possible playoff preview and the duel of two tremendous pitchers (Colon/Garland). Remember how one matchup, one game, can change perception of a player. We all knew Rowand was a great defensive outfielder; but it took one series at New York for the national media to catch on. Due to the heightened exposure surrounding Rowand he may win a Golden Glove because of those three games alone. This matchup was shown nationally and billed as "two of American League's best pitches squaring off." Garland BLEW IT. Choked. His Cy-Young was lost this afternoon. Anyone on the fence completely shifted towards Colon after Garland's crapfest.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) It was Iguchi who made that throw, not Gload. I've had to hear Rex f***in Hudler blame Ross for that play like 90 times already. Gload's not Japanese. Was it Rex Hudler who claimed Joe Crede was our "3rd baseman of the future" late in the game? I hope his future with this organization doesn't extend far beyond this season. It would have been true-- if this were 2002. -

Looks like we found out today who the real men were. One pitcher pitched himself out of trouble and solidified his Cy-Young resume. Another wet himself and couldn't help his team after a devastating loss. Can anyone seriously hold faith in Garland/Buehlre shutting down a playoff team? I'm weary of either holding a LA/OAK/NYY/BOS to less than 3 runs. -

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) How good are garland's chances at the cy young award now? I hope after today Ozzie finds a spot in the rotation for BMac. Forget about including Garland in the Cy-Young discussion. He wet himself. Our team is good for having Cy-Young candidates fold down the stretch. Might as well give McCarthy an opportunity. Need a boost from someone--hopefully he'll continue his success. -
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) "Shut up Ross. See you in Milwaukee next year, you whining wuss!" Are you honestly offended by the remarks of just snitching on a fellow poster? I don't know why you're intent on proving his remarks violate our new posting policy. I'm sure the moderators know what comments are unneccessary and need to be edited

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) ^ Agreed, the only thing "wrong" was blaming the wrong player for a bad throw. -- I often lose track of things like that on odd plays when I'm at the game if I'm not keeping score, so I suppose it's not a bannable offense I have faith the moderating team would not taken such drastic measures. I just wanted to be sure he wasn't the victim of "dark cloud" pile on reminiscent of WSI. Doesn't take long for other optimists to jump in and question your loyalty to the team. Then before you know it people have permantly labeled you as overly pessimistic, discredit all your opinions, or claim your posts aren't worthy of reply. Oh wait.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) He's been about as unlucky as they come lately, he really is hitting hte ball hard. We're honestly holding faith in a reserve player because he's hitting the ball hard (which I haven't noticed consistently), yet doesn't have anything to show for it? He's a bum--and until a few of those unlucky line drives begin to fall he'll remain so in my view.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Uh oh....bye bye. If this were WSI he may be banned. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with what he wrote.
