Certain clubs signing FA's may open up opportunities for trades. Only legitimate excuse to explain KW sitting on his ass. Otherwise, why hold out if KW/JR know exactly what they're looking for?
-
There is no reason to b****. I'm not justifying anyone who does. Understand this: you're argument is "lets wait until something happens before we b****," while others say "we'll continue to b**** until a move is made." Not one is more correct then the other. History supports both beliefs. I guarantee it's going to be difficult to control your emotions when numerous FA's are passed by this club. If this organization has any clue on the method of upgrading our team, why wait until winter meetings? Explain to me why Williams acts so quickly in midseason trades, yet stalls in the offseason? Last seasons stale offseason completely severed my trust with this organization. Yes, I'm sure many of you will say, "it took you this long to realize that!" With a 2003 team SO close to a divisional championship I expected a great winter. Wrong. Approaching opening day, the people who said "offseason is far from over" were replying "Lets give this team a chance! No one else in the division made great moves. We'll win by default!" I rather eat crow then expect a fulfilling offseason.

While creating threads following the daily inactivity of the White Sox is unneccessary, an optimistic view of "wait till Winter meetings" gets just as old. I've said before I wouldn't complain following every FA signing, but with our numerous holes I expect (atleast) ONE move by Winter Meetings. Two months passing without any substantial move won't hold off my criticism.

Signing Tim Raines as first-base coach nixes any thought of benching/trading Willie. Whether from the fans of front office, everyone seems to believe Raines will teach Harris the fine art of basestealing. Don't know how this will work out. You can sign me for a contract and I'd just tell Harris to quit being a pussy and run. While I've been jumping aboard the Palanco wagon, I just don't forsee this organization signing a suitable 2B replacement. Harris can become a solid player, but he splits against lefties only complicates this situation.

Yes, a very cruel and truthful joke. Borchard will find himself in AAA unless he puts together a remarkable spring training and earns a roster spot.
-
Wait till next year? :puke Im eagerly anticipating the excuse he'd use to justify this. While we all know its in hope he'll put together a good season (for trade value), Williams will resort to his "work ethic" and "potential" in confivincing fans.

I merely stated those two statistics because they're the most obvious. Obvioulsy they're not great indications of success/failure. Following his drubbing on August 23, Bonderman's revelation was as followed: 8 starts, 5-3 record, 3.06 ERA, 60K/57.3IP/17BB/42H. /and because you love it: 1.03 WHIP EDIT: To be fair, these starts were against the Sox (2), Boston, KC, TB (2), Cleveland, Baltimore. I still have confidence in his talent.
-
No starting pitching? Bonderman will anchor Detroit's staff for the unforseable future. Win/Loss record, ERA doesn't give him due respect. His stuff is electric, and late in the season he completely reformed his delivery. I'd expect Bonderman to win 15+ if Detroit's offense is consistent.

I doubt Williams would compromise the name of Boras to 'fly under the radar.' Reinsdorf is controlling the strings on this one. While I would prefer Garciappara signing a two-year incentive laden contract, it's not realistic. I find it difficult to believe another organization won't offer Nomar two guaranteed years.
-
There's no question of Reinsdorf's cheapness, yet this article is full of his usual slanderous comments towards our organization. In particular is the paragraph devoted to Magglio's injury. He describes the White Sox as "bungling" the situation. f***ing moron. Where is the information detailing Magg's mysterious surgery in Austria, or how super-agent Scott Boras refuses to allow teams examination of his knee WITHOUT a serious offer. Williams offered him a generious contract and he turned it down. What is Williams left to do, enter a bidding war for an outfielder recovering from a rare knee injury? It would be classic Mariotti to rip Reinsdorf if Ordonez was resigned and he reinjured himself.

Anytime JR is conducting interviews on sports talk radio you know its important. My feeling is this organization is attempting to calm the emotions of Sox fans who have witnessed KW's "No Boras policy," as well as the passing of Guzman/Vizquel. Nothing odd about protecting the product; but again, if JR feels it necessary to talk to MIKE NORTH (of all people) this last week is weighing heavily on management. Mariotti's recent column likely provided the extra push. About Palanco: what exactly was the context in which JR mentioned him? Did North list him as possible acquisition and JR replied "No," or out of nowhere Reinsdorf say, "Oh...and Palanco is not an option" I wonder because local newspapers haven't exactly courted Palanco as an interest of Williams, yet this website has been singing his praises for well over a week.

This guy was certaintly an enemy combatant. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...h_prisoner_shot Amazing. Marines will engage insurgents, and those injured are actually TREATED and left behind.

United States military needs its scapegoat to relieve international outrage. As expected, Muslim fundemantalits are expressing outrage. How are these groups justifying the beheading of innocent civilians, again?
-
The conspirist within me wonders if Sox management had a decision in whether talking baseball aired tonight. Similar to Dave Wills "rushing through" another post game show following a bad loss. Well, no-- but I was looking forward to callers venting on our inactivity and Bruce Levine squirming past his bold prediction. As of 7:16, no explanation of this program switch.

Borchard is closing in on Guillen. Wouldn't it be fitting if Williams used this poll to guage fan opinion of Borchard? I could imagine KW citing this thread as proof Borchard's popularity remains high.

Outside a platoon combination, Placido may be the only reasonable 2B option for our club. If the market is truly favoring the players, Williams needs to act quickly and sign him.

Prediction: Which players will REALLY sign w/ Sox
Flash Tizzle replied to CWSOX45's topic in Pale Hose Talk
/continued 5. Players who were once quality major leaguers, but have since regressed and are entering the twilight of their career. 6. "Grinders" (See 1-5) 7. Pitcher/Positional player grugingly traded for the extremely generous 'Williams Package.' Opposing GM's treat it as early Christmas presents. -
Please god, let's set our expectations a BIT higher than Barry Larkin. Signing Larkin should come after all other options have been exhausted, and Sox have been outbid for remaining SS/2Bs. I don't believe that should happen. If Williams have any desire of improving this ballclub, he'll sign Placido Palanco. What troubles me about Larkin is his health and lack of defensive prowless. In a team full of sluggers and stationary players a defensive backup is more valuable. The role should be Valdezs next season.

Semi-depressing Phil Rogers article in the Tribune
Flash Tizzle replied to hitlesswonder's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It does mean something. Williams has given Borchard numerous opportunities to prove his worth to this organization. If he would have shown improvement in Mexico, the door was WIDE open for him to occupy RF next season. Unfortunately, it still may be, but only due to William's ego and the unlikely event we'll sign a suitable Magglio-replacement. -
Most drama series shown on the WB are lame. The same f***ing formula is used in every show on that network: someone from an outside environment moves into a new setting, quickly establishing friends and enemies. Within the first few episodes a girl is introduced who is just as out reach; whether that be because of social status or she's arleady taken by the antagonist. So now the drama begins and every problem is made more difficult because the main characters are pussies.

My intention of mentioning Miguel is how we (the fans) created possible trade scenarios for Garcia; none of which included MO. Yes, his numbers this season were dismal, but rewind to that afternoon and I guarantee not many were jumping at his departure. Attempting to predict a package for Johnson is difficult because: 1. Other teams may offer equally impressive talent, 2. KW is controlling this trade. The article suggest Konerko/Garland/prospect, but will other offers materialize if Williams feels another club is close to acquiring him?
-
If competition for Johnson grows fierce, Williams may become desperate and include one of those prospects. That's what freightens me. No one on this site believed Olivo would be included in a Garcia trade. Who knows if another player previously labeled as 'untouchable' becomes bait.
-
Damn. Well that crushes my argument.
-
You're basing your figures off the base figure (16 mil) of Johnsons contract. I've read posts within this thread detailing a certain amount of salary could be deferred. If true, it changes the complexion of this deal. The players included in the trade (ideally the quality of our prospects) will likely determine the money Arizona will cover from RJ's 05' salary. If Sox give up Sweeney/Andersen/McCarthy (in addition to Konerko/Garland) perhaps Arizona covers a few million.

If your within Chicago boundaries, then Daley College would be your best option for certification. No use paying the additional fees to attend Moraine.
