Apparently, most sports fans dont think much of us
Flash Tizzle replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The question posed in the article was which team would be next to end their World Series drought. Of the choices listed, the only team unlikely to win a World Series before the Sox is Cleveland. However, Cleveland does have a young core of talented ballplayers and have earned respect from their domination in the 90's. 20 years of Reinsdorf ownership with a measly three playoff appearances won't convince many we're next to win a WS. -
Williams is likely upset this topic is (again) rehased in the media. While it was Chris DeLuca who baited him, Foulke didn't appear willing to hold back any animosity towards our organization. Do players ever leave the White Sox with good will? Well, atleast White Sox had their flamethrowing closer while Foulke continued struggling in Oakland.

Great first hand account from a blogger who claimed to have backstage information. http://www.ranova.org/

I'll bring the discussion back on track Watch the tape and you'll notice both the bassest and Ashlee look at the drummer, who's apparently playing the wrong notes. Immediately following the various expressions of confusion begins the initial verse to "Pieces of Me." There were two gaffs: the audio technician responsible for playing the song AND the drummer for beginning the incorrect beat. Conspiracy? /Oliver Stone has warped my mind.

Your eight year old saw the movie? Damn, when I was eight I watched Dolls and couldn't sleep for a week. Don't believe my parents allowed me to view another horror movie until I was 10. Perhaps children these days are sensitized to the brutatlity of movies/television. That's right, another person blaming society.

Like it do ya? Now you can watch the Ashlee Simpson hoe down on a continuos loop.

I agree with your points. Good post. It's simple to understand why Arizona would have sights set on Rowand with Gonzalez questionable health/declining defense and Finley's departure last season. KW must turn down any suggestions of trading Aaron. Don't trade young talent unless another team is willing to overpay.
-
I agree the trade would work if the prospect included was Sweeney, Anderson, or McCarthy. My problem is I don't support foresaking critical pieces of our teams future for a pitcher, even one as dominating as Randy Johnson. Nothing is guaranteed if he were to become a White Sox next season. I understand RJ does gives our team an definite ace, but answer which tangent of players would you rather have: Johnson Grilli Uribe Gload Garland Perez Crede Konerko If JR is willing to take on 13+ million of Johnsons contract (while trading Crede/Konerko), why not sign Perez and keep both? If Sweeney or Anderson are traded who will roam the OF when Lee is gone? If McCarthy is traded, Johnson will have departed after 05 and two SP positions will be vacant. Johnson will earn his money in the playoffs, but Sox won't get there with no 5th starter and the absense of offense Konerko/Crede bring. Who knows what other aspects of the team will become effected because of this trade. Will Williams acquire a legitimate SS FA, or seek a "Gordon-like" setup guy with Johnson's huge salary on the books? There's also another factor of this trade which freightens me. No one guessed Olivo would be included in the Garcia trade, and I'm concerned KW will throw an extra player out of desperation.

I guarantee Jessica is laughing somewhere. Ashlee released a single recently which discusses 'living in the shadow of someone elses dream'; an obvious reference to her sister. It's a shame Ashlee had to climb over her own family to reinforce this punk image. This SNL stunt should tune her ego down a few notches.

White Sox organization absolutely should be held accountable. Their recent track record of developing poor pitching prospects with weak arms is a good indication of that. Adding velocity to a delivery is difficult with a pitcher (such as Honel) who has been pitching one way successfully his entire career. At some point, someone needs to be shouldered blame for the pure s*** our minor league has produced. Just as Williams should not escapte criticism for his coincidental streak of 4 years as GM and 4 years without a divisional tite. Another year without a playoff appearance, REGARDLESS of injuries, and there should be no question to his removal. No f***ing question. If Arizona has justification in firing Bob Brenley three years following a WS title, what ground does anyone have for holding onto Williams? Wearing his "heart on his sleeve" is not a legitimate reason. /general rant ahead I've said it before, and it relates just as well with our positional players, if Sweeney/Andersen/McCarthy encounter ANY sort of setback someone needs to be fired. White Sox are not at the luxury of freely spending money to acquire talent and desperate need these players to perform. As a "mid market" club the balance needs to exist between spending money and developing major league players. You all can write my 'success or firing' idea as ridiculous and claim other teams are encountering similiar problems, but everyprospect that contributes in Minnesota further exposes our troubles. If we're emphasizing an organizational philosophy comparable to Minnesota, how about developing some f***ing talent? DAMN its frustrating. Where's our Lew Ford, Justin Morneau, or heaven forbid me for asking; Johan Santana? It would be great to spend available money on pitching without worrying about a backup the King of Busts, Joe Borchard. I hope to Jebus the remaining Borchard fans and believers have come to the realization he's terrible. Mexican League pitchers are owning him! Everything adds up when discussing our ineptness, and concluding positions unoccupied by minor league talent is another spent on bargain bin crap. When Williams and Guillen hype these prospects out to be superstars, the pressure is placed upon these kids to perform. Fans reading the newspapers who don't have access to Soxtalk likely figure these prospects as impending superstars. Not that they aren't or don't have the capability, but none are tearing up the minors to the effect a spot on next years team is guaranteed. As a worst case scenario, the promotion of "big three" should, at the latest, extend until 2008. Sweeney may be 19, and some will suggest "there's no rush," but at 23 years old the hype will either have subsided or been completely obliterated. Hopefully Borchard will have blossumed into a solid ballplayer by then. LOL, probably not going to happen. Well, then hopefully KW will be gone so our fan base won't have to endure another year of validating the huge signing of Borchard.

I've seen the original version of The Grudge, and by all accounts on IMDB the remake is bastardized by greedy studio executives. I'll wait until the DVD release. Also agree Saw and White Noise both look good. I wouldn't have been sold on the plot of White Noise before viewing the trailer. Although it's a blatant rip-off of Sixth Sense, the recordings of deceased family members is chilling.
-
Absolutely nothing. I've noticed during my year on Soxtalk that whenever an upcoming FA performs well in the playoffs he's gushed over. Whether you were agreeing with me in the Boston/NYY thread last week or noticing it yourself, we both predicted a thread would pop up when Loaiza pitched well. Like clockwork it happen. It's as if some believe pitching well in the playoffs is the ultimate indication of success; forget the regular season.

Jason, how many AB's are these stats based off of? Figure atleast 21. With the expectations our organization is placing upon Anderson, I expect these numbers to climb with more AB's and further recovery time. Sox can't afford any setbacks with him.

Paul Sullivan has written pure nonsense right there. Is he the personal assistant (b****) of Jim Hendry? No knowledgable general manager would accept a trade involving Corkilicious; even at the price of exchanging albatross salaries. I have a simple solution: ignore all phone calls from "The Magician" Jim Hendry and let the Cubs suffer through another devastating season. Why must someone help him out? Relieving the Cubs of their cancer and freeing up money only places them in a position to become stronger. You'll know the exact time all hope is given up on trading Sosa when he issues an apology for his actions. At that point Tribune has exhausted all venues to trading Corky, and will attempt damage control within the media.

CARDINALS WIN THE PENNANT! CARDINALS WIN THE PENNANT! Now that the World Series is in place I desonate myself as an honorary St. Louis fan. :fthecubs

They must LOVE Hangar18's numerous rants on the Cub's biasm in Chicago. I can guarantee Mike Kiley, Mike Murphy, and Jay Mariotti have heard of him.

I wouldn't doubt the presense these fan websites (Soxtalk/WSI) have on the local media. Willsy frequently plugs WSI, and it's foolish to believe noone within the Sox organization curiously browses these board. It could actually be beneficial for KW and company to guage public opinion on various trades, topics. While we have no influence on personnel decisions, who knows if KW might present a trade scenario under an alias to forecast fan reaction. s***, if I was Williams I'd suggest for employees to register on Soxtalk/WSI and preach everything White Sox. Recently, there have been an abundance of articles on Whitesox.com hyping up our minor league system. Several days ago there was the dubious claim our organization was 'one of the best', and today an article on Fields. Sure, KW see's the same problems we do, but he must also know how critical Sox fans are of home-grown talent. Here and WSI would provide a good reference to the thoughts of knowledgable fans.

JR will use the petition as toliet paper. Boras will make Beltran eat the letter and never speak of its contents. Money, not the support of the Houston/White Sox fan base, will determine his home in 05.

That's news to me. I severly doubt a beat reporter, with any respect to his profession, would resort to an internet message board for inside scoops. In order for Levine to consider you (Rex) as an insider, he would have to atleast know you personally. Does he? Just to make sure, we should create a bulls*** rumor and see if he mentions it.
-
Harris is the one who should be filling the utility role. Juan deserves a starting position in either 2B or SS; whichever position is not filled via FA.
-
That's a better question to ask. One hitter through 6 innings is hardly deserving of a removal. Francona, in all likelihood, was reminiscing back to last year when Grady was essentially fired for leaving Pedro out too long. I believe he lacked trust in Lowe completing another inning, despite his low pitch count.
-
Then you allow yourself to be second guessed. Look at it like this: would you rather have tired Pedro Martinez or a healthy Curtis Lescanic on the mound. If the roles were reversed, and Lescanic coughed up the runs instead of Pedro, a media fury would have been unleashed.
-
With Lescanic pitching the 7 run lead would have quickly become 4 or 3. Remember, over the regular season the Yankess had more comeback victories than any team in the majors. Why give New York an opportunity in such a crucial game? Mop up rolls don't exist in deciding games with divisional rivals when the ALC is at stake.
-
-Why you so pessimistic? The offseason hasn't even begun! -There's plenty of time between now and spring training for KW to sign him. -KW always makes a big move before Soxfest! -Increased revenue from ticket sales and the Comcast deal should make us buyers in the FA market! -Not every team can begin a bidding war with Carl Pavano...or Pedro Martinez...or Carlos Beltran...or Brad Radke....or Odalis Perez. -Minnesota lost [insert name], we can still win the division by default! Thought I'd list all the various excuses you'll hear when JR sits on his ass, and people calm themselves with these false beliefs.

5 outs remaining. Sorry Jeter. Chew your gum and accept failure like a man, b****.
