  1. Damn. Well that crushes my argument.
  2. You're basing your figures off the base figure (16 mil) of Johnsons contract. I've read posts within this thread detailing a certain amount of salary could be deferred. If true, it changes the complexion of this deal. The players included in the trade (ideally the quality of our prospects) will likely determine the money Arizona will cover from RJ's 05' salary. If Sox give up Sweeney/Andersen/McCarthy (in addition to Konerko/Garland) perhaps Arizona covers a few million.
  3. If your within Chicago boundaries, then Daley College would be your best option for certification. No use paying the additional fees to attend Moraine.
  4. Esteban won't sign cheap, despite his poor season. I'd still expect him to command 3-4 million on the FA market. That money is better spent elsewhere
  5. You believe this organization would spend an additional 16 million on an aging pitcher (albeit Randy Johnson) in order to lower the demands of Arizona? I just don't see it happening. Williams would rather give up prospects and cripple the future of this organization.
  6. Yes, it completely changes my opinion of this trade. It's simply too much of a risk to hope a 41 year old Johnson remains healthy through two seasons.
  7. Does it seem to anyone else onside kicks have a recovery rate of 95% this year?
  8. More importantly four seconds were allowed to run off the clock. Defense holds the Giants one or two plays it could be another four. Get this late in the game every second counts.
  9. :headshake :puke This trade proposal is ridiculous. Beane should drive down to Los Angeles and kick his moneyball disciple in the balls if DePodesta humors this deal. Shawn Green has the potential to replace Sosa's (recent) power numbers in RF; in addition to his tremendous clubhouse attitude, which will nullify any notion of ripping off the "Magician" Jim Hendry. I don't understand why organizations are buying into this possibility Sosa may just return to old form. Has anyone become aware of his declining numbers, numerous injuries, or "me-first" attitude? And of all places to bring an aging slugger, Dodger Stadium is perhaps the worst.

Facebook adds Loyala-Chicago and practically every division of University of California, but fails to acknowledge one of the largest colleges in Illinois; UIC? Obviously the well known schools are first to be added, but LOYOLA?! That's insulting.
  11. Well, which is it: "atleast" 150 million /7 yrs or "atleast" 18 million per? We're talking about a 20 million dollar difference.
  12. Within the next year, when additional I-Pass lanes are added, these accidents will become more common. Portion tolls which require drivers to slow down and pay may cause congestion, but it prevents jackasses blazing through at high speeds. This particular incident was likely the fault of the person driving the automobile, but it serves as a warning of forthcoming problems.
  13. You'd figure Beane has interest in atleast one top tier prospect. I'd bet that prospect is Brandon McCarthy, although that's just speculation on my behalf. Perhaps it's the reputation Beane has earned as a screwd GM, but any trade involving Hudson needs close examination. Hopefully no one (especially KW) jumps up and down proclamining our starter problems are gone and quickly sign the dotted line. Williams was estatic trading Foulke for a hard throwing closer, yet was burned when Koch left his velocity in Oakland. (Sorry, had to reference that in...again ) I hope conscious efforts are made to reflect upon stats/velocity of Hudson following his injury.
  14. Absolutely. Up until 1960 there had never been a Catholic President, and we're all aware how reluctant some are to accept change in this country. Nixon frequently pointed out Kennedy's affiliation with the Catholic religion as if he threatened the unity of the United States. Spread of Communism in Cuba was the real issue, yet this somehow became a focal point of debate.
  15. It appears Fox News fails to acknowledge the existence of California.
  16. Keyes should learn how to speak in complete sentences, instead of fragmented phrases. Bobbing his head and reciting Bible phrases throughout his speeches couldn't hurt either. /he's f***ing crazy.
  17. Good example of memory rummaging. Had to have been over a year ago when Zero made a poll asking Soxtalk why his eyes were bloodshot. to Zero SAN.
  18. Not too difficult to copy/paste.

Lets just say if the Leaky family uncovered this website you'd be classified as Ardipithecus flaxsoxxjim.
  20. This is ridiculous. Just like the Mets to jump on this. Minaya will risk Sosa's terrible clubhouse presense, inflated ego, and bloated salary for the possibiliy of a break out season? Apparently no one shares my vision of a 2005 Cubs team immersed in turmoil and disfunction.
  21. Since when is a .326 AVG., .360 OBP. horrible? If Vizquel were to signed, the first two positions should be Vizquel/Rowand or Vizquel/Uribe, depending on matchups or who's the hot hand.
  22. Damn optical allusion. Before reading this thread I thought the picture was an eagle. The knife's reflection off the water looks like the spread wings of a bird. A white impression made with the jaw's submersion in water appears similiar to the wake left by a passing speedboat. Anyone else see this s***?
  23. Contreras/Garcia's salaries will be paid with the 14 million left by Maggs departure. It's no coincidence both salaries round out to about that price. I wouldn't count on JR raising payroll because of something Levine didn't say.
  24. It's really this simple. I'd rather sign a player with great numbers and a terrible attitude (ex. Guillen) then Timo Perez or Jose Valentin.
  25. Team Chemistry, opposed to anything Paul Konerko may suggest, depends ideally on the teams position in the standings. With Ozzie at the helms, inflating one's ego will not be tolerated. Take Sosa: Cub's win the division and his selfish comments about Dusty Baker never occur, as well as abandoning his teammates on the last game of the season. While his arrogance and Sam-me personality wouldn't have changed, it would have been easier to accept had the Cubs not choked. Many players on many championship teams (as you've mentioned) learn to play aside each other when the club is winning. Johnson and Schilling disliked each other in 2001; didn't effect them one bit. And I wouldn't exactly agree our future is dismal. When 3/5 of the starting rotation is locked up through 06' the opportunity to win is there. My concerns are the remaining holes a 65 million dollar payroll may not fill, as well as the progression of our minor league prospects.
