YES!!!!!! TIE f***ING GAME WITH A 0-2 COUNT AND 2 OUTS!!!!!!!!
-
2 out triple for Jiminez. Cmon Reds. Pull this one out for White Sox fans.
-
Top of the 8th, Cubs leading 2-1 over Cincinatti. 7th inning the Reds pitcher slips on the grass while fielding a bunt, which leads to a Moises Alou sacrifice fly to pull the Cubs infront. This afternoons pitiful performance is only appropriate of the National League prostitutes. Hawkins is out for the 9th. Reds have any sort of heart they will show some life against LeToya. Why are the Cubs prolonging their collapse? f***ING LOSE ALREADY!

I wonder if there's an ignorant old man residing at the bottom of the mountain who refuses to move. You wouldn't anticipate any real estate in close proximity with the moutain, but natural disasters haven't detered people from building houses in California (earthquake/mudslide) or Florida (hurricanes) before.

Was there any other option? If Reed were not to experience immediate success it would mean KW was vindicated in trading him. All of Williams supporters would notice Jeremys stats and say, "SEE, KW was right in trading Reed while his stock was still high." Too bad Baseball gods forbid such actions. I guess we'll all have to become accustomed to Reed smearing this trade in our face for the next 5+ years.
-
Even though I've been critical of him, its only because some people adamently search for excuses to explain his failures. I believe Neal Cotts has potential. His 'sneaky' fastball routinely touches 92 mph and there have been several outings where flashes of brilliance have surfaced. A typical Neal Cotts line usually consists of several ER's and numerous strikeouts. I suppose these type of players will drive you crazy deciding whether or not they'll "pull it all together."
-
Cotts wets the bed. It's that simple. And wouldn't you know, there's NO EXCUSES. (He wasn't too fond of stranding his own runners there, was he?) Two straight singles followed by a three run HR has given the Tigers a 6-4 lead.
-
Was he consistently pitching at 94 mph? In his starts with the Sox I never witnessed a pitch within that speed. If true, its only fitting Rauch finds his true potential in another organization. Isn't it protocal for minor league pitchers to gain velocity once traded from the White Sox? Kip Wells sure had no problem adding several mph once entering the Pirates system.
-
I won't complain (much), but the score should be 5-3. Uribe stealing third with your biggest run producer AB and Brandon Inge behind the plate is foolish. 'Ozzieball' cost the Sox another run.
-
Contreras' absense of communication between our catcher is most troubling. He appears unwilling to mix up his forkball and fastball; relying on either one too frequently. Should have known fortunes would turn when Contreras was 3-0 with a 3.50 ERA in his first several starts with the Sox. There was far too much praising of KW . I suggest a simple motto when our GM initiates a trade which appears beneficial to the Sox: GIVE IT TIME. It was only fitting Jose would transgress into the pitcher New York gleefully traded.

Gammons -God I hope he's wrong!

Sox fans have professed a belief that if JR would field a consistent, winning ballclub the fans would attend games. We may bash bandwagon jumping, Northside yuppies for attending Wrigley merely for the 'hipness,' but I see nothing but good coming from the Tribune organization. Long as Hendry rapes less fortunate organizations of talent and the payroll is steady around 100 million, this team will be in contention for many years to come. Six years ago Cub fans fit their label as ignorant fans, but recent success has changed the attitude of their fanbase. Six years ago Cub fans would fill their park to stare at ivy. Now they have a reason (if one was ever needed) to attend the Urinal. Two straight years of fielding a playoff caliber team with talented players at (nearly) every position and your park will fill. It sickens me to applaud anything happening on the Northside, but they are fortunate in possessing a good team, high payroll, and lemming fan base. Moronic Cub fans fill up every ballpark they attend. What makes you believe their fans wouldn't travel another half an hour to watch their team? Look at Milwaukee, or as Chimp Carey has so eloquently put it; "North Chicago." Wrigley Field could be floating in Lake Michigan and as long as WGN broadcasts games, the beers flowing, some girls jugs are busting out, and the suns shining the park would be packed. -
Game. Detroit wins 4-2 on a 6th inning, 2-Run HR from Dimitri Young. Grilli pitched solid: CG, 3 hits, 4 ER, 3 K. It's starts such as these which worry me. Will KW look at Grilli's performance and use it as evidence he's suitable as our 5th starter (in 05?) Listenening to Hawk on the postgame show, he believes Jason is making his case for a "spot in the rotation come next year." Best stat concerning Grilli: HE'S CHEAP.

Greg Maddux is an exemption to the rule. Throw below 92 mph you damn well better have a good repetoire. All of 'Mad Dog's" pitches have moment, change in speed, and pinpoint accuracy. Rarely in an at bat will you have a pitch directly over the middle unless its a mistake. My concern is our entire minor league organization is full of soft tossers with mediocre stuff. Felix Diaz can't expect to fool hitters with his straight 91 mph fastball when his breaking ball is flat, or Arnie Munoz and his SLLLLOOOWWW curveball. Yesterday I was watching Oakland vs. Anaheim and proceeding the removal of Mark Mulder walks a rookie pitching in his second game. Name: Joe Blanton. After pitching 3+ innings, striking out 3 and giving up 1 ER (Rhodes fault) I was close to writing a profanity laced post. This guys delivery/ "stuff" is strikingly similar to Jeff Bajenaru, yet Man Hands could barely work one inning of work in any of his outings. Did Anaheim not destroy Bajenaru when his pitched against them a few weeks ago? This is becoming insane. I bet if Blanton were to be traded to the White Sox he'd immediately give up 3 straight HR's. How many times do I have to watch Minnesota, Anaheim, or Oakland draft and quickly develop a stud pitcher? Where's our Duscherer, Harden, F. Rodriguez, Rincon, Romero? You would think, by chance, some wild card prospect would rise through the system and quickly earn their spot on the team. Maybe BMAC is that special individual we've been waiting for. I'll tell you this: if he is promoted to the major leagues and fails, or has any sort of setback leading up to his arrival someone needs to be fired. This is our number #1 pitching prospect. There's no one else within 3 years of arriving on the Sox and our organization needs proof its capable of developing talented pitching.

No offense taken. I can understand how some may find it annoying since nothing of value is added to a thread where someone puts words under a picture. Anything suggestions made to seperate Soxtalk from WSI will be held in the highest regard.

NO. /This Thread Sucks. Drillrod.

The White Sox organization has gone to great lengths to preserve their dream of a 2008 pitching staff consisting of 8 Felix Diaz clones. Rodriguez puts that dream in jeopardy. -KW calls pitcher Frankie Rodriguez in his office for an important meeting. "Mr Rodriguez: I have reviewed your progress and have emassed concern over your velocity. Scouting reports are registering your fastball as 95, 96, 97 mph. I regret to inform you but a player of your caliber has no place on our roster. Currently, my organization collectively believes velocity has no direct correlation with success in this league. We're confident major league hitters have difficulty catching up to 90 mph heat, and holding off weak sliders. Sit down and watch this 'best of video' I've been studying the last few days. (pops in Greg Maddux VHS tape into VCR) See! You don't need to throw hard to get outs. Velocity is vastly overrated, and when you witness my vision from afar you will curse the day god blessed you with a live arm."

Posing for Playboy is the pinnacle of one's career. She may hold off that moment for quite a few years. Whether its tomorrow or 10 years from now, Britney in Playboy will draw huge interest. Tiffany waited over a decade to pose nude and its not because she's a babe. The demographic of playboy subscribers (which I believe are 30-45 age range) grew up waiting for this moment. I would hate for Spears to stall 11 years while she's rounding America playing backyard, hillbilly fesitvals. Journey has already marked their territory in these circuits. But if I'm wrong......it will usher a GLORIOUS age of teenage idols attempting to salvage their fame within the pages of Playboy. Aguillera, Moore, Simpson? Yes. My ultimate line: 5 years on Playboy.

As usual with the Chicago White Sox, the decision on whether Grilli starts or not likely involves money. Garland may earn 3-4 million through arbitration hearings while Grilli commands the league minimum. The obvious discrepancy in stats have no place in this discussion. What's important is JR saves a few million, to which he will divide among the numerous players earning raises. I've conditioned myself not to expect much worthwhile activity this offseason. Sure, numerous trades might occur but will they improve this team? Eyes widen when general managers across MLB receive phone calls from KW. He has no concept of player value, and seemingly ignores the trade practices of fellow GM's. Will I have to endure another offseason of reading Chicago media supporters claim the goof from the North Side possesses a "magic wand?" Hendry gives up s*** for talent and rapes organizations. KW will get burned. I've accuractely configured KW's method of stupidity relating to this upcoming offseason. He'll wait until most of the valuable FA's are signed, claim "we tried our best," and begin scavaging the bargain bins. Although I can't blame him (entirely) for having his hands tied......... "You should all be digusted with yourselves. Sox fans act as if they have actual bills to pay, or lives to live. Spend your money at the park and worry about survival later. Why can't you attend games at the pace of Cub fans? Isn't our beer just as warm, ballpark just as retro, women just as flabby? If you sit in the upper deck you have BEAUTIFUL highrise apartments beyond the outfield fences to avert the attention off the field. Isn't that what fans look for when attending a baseball game; a beautiful ballpark?"
-
Key word in Poorme's post: "last offseason was a total snoozefest." Proceeding this year there were no significant trades to fix our teams numerous holes. Any hope of reaching a postseason birth was due to the weakness of the AL Central, and not our degree of talent. You misread his post.

Excellent. Cubs collapse is in full transition and should be complete by the Atlanta series. It all depends on whether or not Cincinnati continues their job as Whores of the National League.
-
Fox Announcers (esp. McCarver) were noticeable upset the Mets failed to lay down for the Cubs. How dare anyone forsake the opportunity to market a Red Sox/Flubs World Series! ESPN has the memo. FOX surely has the memo. Diaz is a rookie, and as such wasn't given the information how other teams are supposed to lose for the Cubs. Trotting out minor league pitchers/positional players are encouraged, but they have to know their role. Someone within the television network will likely find themselves fired for disobeying the orders of Bud Selig.

September 19: (last Sunday) Garcia pitched 7.1 innings, surrendering 6 hits and 1 ER. -Before that?- September 10: Jon Garland pitches 6.1 innings, allowing 2 ER against Anaheim. Quickly browsing box scores, White Sox pitcher have thrown 5 quality outtings (in 22 games) for September. It's becoming increasingly obvious the subtraction of Maggs/Thomas from our lineup wasn't the only factor in the Sox collapse.
-
Anyone else growing concerned with Freddy's drop in velocity since returning from the DL? Ever since Manny Ramirez's HR several weeks ago he's yet to exceed 90 mph on his fastball. Great. Now Garcia gives up two straight hits to the anemic KC offensive and coughs up the lead. Only one solution can arrive from this development: Ozzie will leave Garcia in for 115 + pitches and continul to add unneccessary arm stress on our ace.
-
Cell Induced HR for Carlos Lee. If it weren't 60 degrees out I'd blame the flight of the ball on the high humidity. Winds must be swirling inside USCF tonight to carry his line drive into the bullpen. 2-0 Sox.

Rangers needed nothing less than a sweep entering this series and rightfully earned their way back into the AL West Race. Currently, Anaheim and Texas have matching records with 5 games remaining between the two clubs. While I have no preference for either team, I'm gleafully anticipating the Billy Beane bashing which will ensue after an improbable late-season collapse. Afterwards, I suggest baseball executives collectively agree to refuse trade with Beane and Jim Hendry during the offseason. Beane will be unable to promote his "moneyball" tactics while Hendry supporters will shut their mouths about him waving a "magic wand." Sick of these goofs being heralded as geniuses.
