Interesting development in the proposed three way deal. This move would ultimately fill our void in RF, in addition to providing another power left-handed bat into the lineup. Floyds average (.189) against LHP is poor, although his solid split against RHP (.315) does offset this. I'd question the validity of Floyd's name merely because he's been very productive for the Mets offense. They're 6 games out in the NL East, and while the Wild Card is out of reach I'd question why the team with the lowest pitching ERA would trade their key slugger. Sure, its painful watching KW deal another highly touted prospect (within our organization), but when you analyze this deal straight up its win F'N win. Sox acquire instant offense while Buckos recieve their intended prospect. Unless Sweeney puts it all together quickly, he's still another 3 years from the majors. Pittsburgh Pirates can wait, we can't.

Uncle Jerry didn't "pocket" the 12 million intended for Colon. Instead, the money was likely used to pay another players salary. I honestly believe if Colon were given a 4 year, 48 million dollar contract that one , possibly two players on our roster (Lee and/or Konerko) would have been traded. Furthermore, Maggs situation is different because last years payroll was near its ceiling without Colons contract offer. Next year, with over 20 million off the books, there will be more than sufficient room to acquire talent. Not cheap grinders who have yet to reach their potential, or former stars past their prime, but players who can make an immediate impact on our team.

http://www.suntimes.com/output/deluca/cst-spt-deluca271.htm I heard the quote from Torii Hunter last night (as several of you did in the other thread) and was almost certain it would likely find its way into local newspapers. Now, above all else, issuing death threats is completely uneccessary, but is there any chance that maybe Hunter misheard a comment from the fans? Our fanbase has come under tremendous scrutiny for the numerous on-field incidents and Tuesday night brawls, so isn't it a possibily Hunter singled out several words and percieved it as a death threat? With the crowd bellowing in back of him, maybe he was anticipating a fan incident and conditioned himself to isolate threatening words. ................... Alright, so I admit it may be a distinct (if not improbable) reason, but what would possess a fan to lean over the rail and threaten Hunters life? Alcohol? Probably. I would love to hear if any Soxtalk members were close to this incident and could either validate or dismiss Hunters claims. It just burns me when a dumbass takes it within himself to act tough and give our fanbase more bad publicity. This should be another fun afternoon of Sox bashing on the local radio stations.

Ozzie Guillen's post game comments were extremely disappointing In a short segment played on ESPN 1000, it sounded as if Ozzie admired Torii Hunter (and the Twins) for playing "hard" baseball. "They come to play everyday," he says. Furthermore, Ozz explains how he doesn't know whether the play was dirty or not, and doesn't plan on reviewing the play. He suggests that its going to be his call whether or not to throw at the opposition. Where the "call" was tonight is anyones guess. Great message to your teammates Ozzie. What exactly doeswarrant redemption in your book? Players hit by pitch in a blow-out doesn't, and obviously an intentional tackle means nothing as well. :headshake Now answer this for me: If one of the Twins were annihiliated at home plate (as the result from a dirty tactic) would they not retaliate? Ozzie preaches team unity, but what message does this send Jamie Burke to know his players don't have his back. "Redeem yourselves on the field," some of you say. What those people seemingly ignore is this incident goes far beyond win and losses. Even IF the White Sox win the next two games, they're only 1/2 game in first. This series honestly doesn't mean too much in the overall scheme of the divisional race. Lose the next two, Sox are 3 1/2 out with 60+ games to play. Twins will have to go through hell (in August) and there will be more then enough time to overcome any deficit. Tonights 8th inning cheaps*** is more important to our team than several of you may realize. Have we not all seen how backing up your teammates builds great bonds within the clubhouse? This particular incident with Torii must either be resolved within the next two games, or not at all. Would you want the Sox to become burdened with this until their next meeting? Plunk his ass or forget about it. If Ozzie has some balls, and preaches a clubhouse where everyone is family, then stick up for your kids. Hit Torii.

I support the idea. Anything besides Korean Thundersticks and I'll be on board. If Sox management knows they're hosting a full house this upcoming series, why not add an extra element of home field advantage. I believe it would give our team a huge boost to witness a sea of twirling white socks during a critical moment in the game.

Three broken bat singles now. All of which have been off good pitches. 2-0 Tigers.

Although Loaiza has been pitching around the strikezone, several (maybe 3) close strike calls have gone against him.
-
I'll agree with you there. Yesterday I was very surprised to find Willie in the lineup against Sabathia. Willie has traditionally struggled against LHP. If Ozzie is expecting him to return to his April/May form (and thus put up consistent numbers), Harris needs more playing time.

If you don't care, then don't respond in this thread. Why is this so hard to comprehend? When members on this site don't give a s*** about one of your threads, they simply let it wither and die; see Dem convention at risk from laptops You made your point in the Mariotti thread (in Palehose talk) and were promptly ignored. Now when the discussion has turned into SLP you decide again to resurface your dissatisfaction with Mariotti bashers. Why? You don't understand? Fine. Are you going to b**** within every Mariotti thread?

Question: Does the number of views this thread recieves effect the hits of douchebag, kotex boy, or any other "google bomb?" If so, I've added over 800 by repeatedly pressing the reload button on Internet Explorer. EDIT: Though it must be noted an error occured immediately after I quit reloading; likely due to stress on the server.

Looks as if someone chopped off the head of a lobster and sewed it onto the body of a grasshopper. This nuclear mutation is truly an abomination of nature. While I don't have extensive knowledge of insects, I searched for pictures which fit 1549's description from Starship Troopers. Good point. Whats more "f***ing predictable" about Mariotti threads are those who like to point out how often they are created. As if they rise above the simple conflict most Sox fans have with Mariotti. Above all else, if no one cared, then these threads would die on their own. I hope we're not coming to the point on Soxtalk (as WSI is now) where EVERY slightly objectionable thread is critiqued. Whats next? Posting a picture with some dork giving the thumbs down and "THIS THREAD SUCKS" in large font.

TERRIBLE call from the homeplate umpire ending the Top of the 7th. Bases loaded, full count, rain steadily falling on the urinal, and the bastard calls out Vander Wal on an obvious ball. Replays validated the Cubs gift call; Barrett clearly dragged his mit back into the strikezone. :fthecubs

JESUS CHRIST, ISRINGHAUSEN. Throw.......strikes.
-
This is not the circumstance to put the tying run at the plate, Jason. 2 on, 2 outs.
-
Threw a fit. Needed to be restrained by five Cub personnel. When Letroy entered the dugout his teammates were literally holding him down.
-
No, he rather complain about balls/strikes with the homeplate umpire. During the commercial break, Hawkins was ejected, and may now be facing a suspension. The pressure is beginning to build in this clubhouse.
-
Albert Pujols has given the Cardinals the lead with a two run jack off LeTroy Hawkins. 3 HR, 1B, 2B, 5 RBI for God this afternoon. Surprise, fans are throwing trash onto the field. :headshake :fthecubs

Farnsworth served up a homerun to TAGUCHI; a HR power threat who just hit his 2nd of the season. Tie f***ing game.
-
Teams across the league should take notice of this game and use Zambrano's anger to their advantage. Trot slowly around the bases, stare at homeruns, pump fists after a strikeout; anything to phase Carlos. When his adrenaline is pumping, he's liable to lay a fat pitch down the middle.
-
You'd seriously consider DH'ing Harris? Once Sox begin to face RH'ing pitching again, Harris will find himself at 2B; where he should be. His value is derived from speed/range in the infield, something which is wasted if he DH's. Uribes recent struggles only help Harris' likelihood of reemerging at 2B. Acquiring Jurassic would really prevent a merry-go-round of players switching between OF positions and DH. Hopefully, if traded for, Carl would approve becoming a full time DH. His switch hitting bat prevents the need of tinkering, while Sox won't become jeopardized with his subpar defense.
