  1. ...................... Anyways, what were the panels arguments for who has the greater chance of reaching the playoffs. I'm especially interested in Mariotti's response.
  2. Maybe I'm wrong, but is Minn. suggesting of bringing Cub fans into the chat room? If it is, Minn, don't do it. I look forward to chat because its an opportunity to talk with fellow White Sox fans. I'm not willing to fend off Cub trolls because your looking to "reignite" the crosstown rivalry. Both sides already hate each other.
  3. They sure as hell would bite. Sox are supplying Arizona their future. Reed/Borchard would likely become the succesors to Gonzalez/Finley while Diaz/Rauch/Cotts would compete for bullpen, rotation spots. This deal would become the Todd Ritchie trade of 04. Even if two (of the five) pan out in the long run it will be considered a successful trade for Arizona. They aren't going anywhere (11.5 GB) and would love to have Johnsons hefty salary off the payroll. Meanwhile, how long will Sox have RJ? Two, three years at most. If KW is foresaking our minor league system Sox damn well better win the World Series. But we all know that's never a guarantee. Adding to the troubles, what happens if Maggs leaves after this season? Reed/Borchard are gone. That leaves the FA market as the only choice. If 10+ is guaranteed towards Unit (and with Koch/Valentin gone), 15 million remains to plug other holes. Does JR resign Este? He'll probably warrant a 7/8 million dollar price tag. What about Schoeneweis? Will he resign or will the Sox search for another replacement? Both Este/Schoeneweis leave you have two spots to fill. Don't forget about the bullpen either, Sox sure as hell need reliable relief pitchers
  4. This is naive at best. A Chicago Cubs world series will absolutely DESTROY any hope of ressurecting our fan base. Every celebrity hack will jump aboard the bandwagon and the nation will once again profess their love for the "Loveable Losers." Could anyone stand another October run for the Cubs? Chicago would become immersed in all things Cubs, and if the White Sox weren't irrelevant before, they sure as would be during a World Series. Following season (win or lose) FA's across the league take pay cuts in order to play for a winning club, meanwhile KW attempts to subside the PR disaster of Maggs signing with the Cubs. JR issues a quote to upset White Sox fans: it says to stop worrying about the Cubs, and to welcome the addition of three cheap "grinders" to the lineup. Not a guarantee any of the above will happen, its just what I fear. Far as increasing payroll, JR couldn't give a f*** about the Cubs. He has said on numerous occasions he feels no need to compete. I'm not intending to bash you Sox-R-Us. You can feel indifference towards the Cubs, but you have to fear the implications a Cubs Worlds Series would have on our team.
  5. Regardless of how Rauch pitches Thur., Williams should still seek an additional starter outside our organization. Do you honestly feel confident in Big Jon for the remainder of the season? If he happens to strew across a few loses in a row it may be too late to for a trade. I understand the redudancy in suggesting this team needs another starter, but if KW is intending on improving this team (without foresaking the farm) Sox need someone to fill the role of a #3. An ace will cost you too much, and the fifth starter is already occupied: Schoeneweis.
  6. Its obvious this poll is retaliation for Sox fans stuffing the ballots in the 2004 All-City team. Honestly, I have no problem with it. Rather when newspapers writers (Mariotti) or radio personalities (Jay Hood) are insulting the Sox, believing Cub fans couldn't care less about our team, I'll refer to this poll.
  7. Awesome! Another well thought out post by Qwerty. I believe I'll summarize your last ten posts with the following segment: 10. 9. That trade sucks 8. YES!!!! 7. Schoeneweis is terrible. 6. 5. The girl in my avatar is a friend 4. 1-2-3 3. 3-0 Tribe 2. 1. The girl in my avatar is a friend. Dont be scurred, you're still my nizzle Qwerty.
  8. Nay to this trade. If Williams is looking to help this warry pitching staff by acquiring pitchers with ERA's of 8.38 (Chacon) and 6.75 (Jennings) he should resign immediately. I wouldn't even comprehend why Colorado would trade either pitcher for Rauch, who at best will be a Jennings clone. Its not as if Jennings $340,000 salary is a hamper on Colorado's payroll. To properly extinguish any theory of Coors Field inflating pitching stats, both pitchers home/road slipts are strinkingly similar: Jennings: Coors - 3-3, 6.75 ERA Jennings: Away - 3-3, 6.75 Chacon: Coors - 0-1, 8.22 ERA Chacon: Away - 0-4, 8.56 Chacon and Jennings would only temporarily patch up our holes. If KW should ever intend to trade Rauch and/or Reed, atleast persuade us (the fans) our "prospects" are worth more than a few Colorado scrubs. Where's our frontline starter Kenny? Or reliable relief pitcher? I'm aware this "trade" is merely the brain-child of one Peter Gammons, but if he characterizes this proposal as fair, who's to say other GM's don't share his belief. The collective baseball world is wise to our troubles in the 5th starters spot.
  9. http://www.weather.com/weather/map/60616?n..._animated&day=1 Extended forecast looks good. Although its cloudy in Chicago right now, any rain which falls won't continue for long.
  10. Don't know why Willie has been benched regularly within the last week, but its common of Ozzie to sit Harris against LHP: Willie Harris - 3 hits/32 AB's, 8 SO's, .156 AVG.

Can someone clue me in to the big hoopla around GMail?
  12. Has anyone downloaded the video clip not hosted on realy tail. (I had problems downloading the trailer). If any sites exists which mirror the download PM me.
  13. 5:03 P.M.: 55,655 Total Votes 5:06 P.M.: 55,878 Jon Garland, 5:03 P.M.: 8,851 Votes Jon Garland, 5:06 P.M.: 9,302 Some avid White Sox fans are doing their part to ensure this dream rotation is a reality.
  14. Rauch is absent from the poll. Since only four Sox starters are on the list, one Cub pitcher had to be picked. Rusch remained the best option.
  15. White Sox Interactive pulled together to make these poll results possible. Several posters are collectively stuffing the ballot and sckewing the player selected. I honestly believe its hilarious. The purpose is not to select the player most deserving, but rather to stick it to the Tribune. How would this starting rotation sound to you. Listed below was the starting rotation WSI is pulling together to achieve: Jon Garland Scott Schoneweis Mark Buehrle Esteban Loaiza Glendon Rusch Could anyone here anticipate the column written on this poll once everything is completed? Sox fans single handily decided the entire "All Chicago Team," and well probably get credit. Hilarity will ensue, that you can count on.
  16. Al-Qeada has found their equalizer in fighting American occupation of Iraq: beheading. Such a gruesome act sent shockwaves throughout the world in the previous two occurences, and Al-Qeada has become aware of the emotional chord it struck within our country. How will South Korea act? It all depends on how the countries deals with the demand of terrorists. For more than 40 years SK has been living beneath two communist nations; there has to exist some sort of precedent. I would expect Kim Dae-jung to exemplify a level of resolve comparable to Saudi Arabia (Johnson)/ Iraq (Berg)/ Pakistan (Pearl). Even if "resolve" results in the death of innocent Koreans, it should remain clear negotiating with terrorist organizations is unacceptable. As many have said before, this situation truly is "no-win."
  17. Including the probables listed by maggsmaggs, and looking ahead to the series with the Cubs, the following seven days are as follows: Cleveland Indians Mon: Schoeneweis vs. Sabathia Tue: Loaiza vs. Elarton Wed: Buehrle vs. Lee Thur: Rauch vs. Westbrook Chicago Cubs Fri: Garland vs. Prior Sat: Schoenweis vs. Zambrano Sun: Loaiza vs. Maddux Hell week indeed.
  18. No one besdies you (and possibly a pile of s***) was confused from the "trade." See, anyone interested would have taken the time to read through the initial thread FIRST. Unless reading through 3 pages is too much. At which point it would have been obvious there were/are no sources outside of the prestigious ESPN boards.
  19. Its not impossible to find a fifth starter, just one within our baron minor league organization.
  20. You must have a level of morbid curiousity to consider viewing this film. I wasn't aware to the specifics of the plot when I rented it; merely heard of its cult status. Very disturbing nevertheless.
  21. .078 seconds The time it takes the background to change colors is different every trial. Longest has been six seconds, shortest is one. I quickly hit start/stop until the screen switched colors within one second. I cheated alright.
  22. Already doing my part to stuff this ballot. Apparently, Internet Explorer (not my default browser) allows me to repeatedly vote. No need to exploit this flaw, yet. If the voting percentages between players begin to shrink, I'll personally begin a campaign sure to put every Bawsten fan to shame.
  23. Just think, all the comments about Botch having the opportunity to build his confidence (in order to close again in the future) was likely pure bulls***. While we're all aware management is unlikely to bash their own product, I don't believe any member on Soxtalk thought Koch could be shipped. Everyone in the Sox organizaton has to feel good about this move, regardless of any friendships forged with the human time bomb.
  24. Its true. ITS f***ING TRUE. I commend KW for swallowing his pride and looking to deal Koch for whatever is available. Wonder if the White Sox persuaded the Marlin organization to take on some of his $6 million dollar salary.
  25. I'm watching FSN's postgame coverage of the game and this "trade" has yet to be announced.
