The season is official over....
There's no f***ing doubt Garcia will sign an extension. One of two scenarios: 1. KW overpays (which he undoubtably will; 50 million/5 years) 2. FG settles for a reasonable contract (28 million/4 years) Why do I believe KW will give Garcia his intended contract? Because he has no other choice. Does Williams risk playing hardball (a favorite of Reinsdorf), with the distinct possibility Garcia could return to Seattle next season? Williams would be f***ing chastised if Reed/Olivo/SS prospect were ultimately traded for a rent-a-player. If I'm Freddy's agent, I'm holding this possibily over KW's head, with one simple message: give my client what he desires or we'll walk. Through all the "what-if's" I'm fairly optimist: If Sox fans have endured one repugnant quality of KW throughout these years, its been his stubbornness. He will attempt to prove this deal worked out for our favor; long term deal for Garcia is giant step in that direction.

We're in the big leagues now! I'm almost positive native Californians sleep through 4.5 magnitude earthquakes.

Just out of curiosity
How did these tremors pass by my town? I feel as if I've missed out on something. It was reported as far south as Pontiac, North as Rockford.

Just out of curiosity
http://www.isgs.uiuc.edu/news/geonews/dece.../earthquake.htm As expected, this is a rare event. Admitingly, I was quick to dismiss El Caballos claim of a "earthquake" until Lee and Zero validated the account. Too bad there was nothing here in Palos Heights. It must of originated somewhere West of Chicago if people in Rockford, Bolingbrook, Batavia felt it.

Freddy Garcia
He does resemble The Rock. Especially in the banner picture on the top of this page. Hopefully he'll continue to lay the "smack down" on opposing batters.

Curious Question
"Miguel, it has become apparent within the current structure of our teams starting rotation that a trade is paramount. In the midst of negotiations with Seattle I panicked and conceeded to the demands of Bill Bavasi. Because I failed to address holes before this season, I'm afraid you have been included in a trade. Jerry Reinsdor and I have envisioned Jamie Burke and Sandy Alomar as the catchers of our future. We unequivocally believe a player of your talent, a five tool catcher, has no place within our organization. We'll be sure to draft an abundace of catchers in next years draft, but deny any reports its to compensate for this trade. I wish you luck Miguel, though PLEASE resist from reaching your full potential. If you become an all-star catcher I'll never hear the end of it."

ESPN 1000: Freddy Garcia traded to the White Sox
I fail to give the front office credit for ANYTHING. Where was all the concern for starting pitching during the offseason? While other teams were shopping, Sox management sat on their hands. Our stellar rotation of Buehrle/Loaiza/Garland/Schoeneweis/Wright was consistently labeled as "good enough to win this division;" nothing more. KW would point out Twins lost key starters, and we (Sox fans) were going to be pleasantly surprised. While the rotation has kept us in the race, we were aware (from the beginning) a trade would have to occur midseason. Well, the trade went down alright; with the subtraction of our future catcher/corner outfielder. We'll see how this pans out throughout this season, and the subsequent years to follow. My assessment: we'll look back on this trade and realize KW made a huge mistake.

ESPN 1000: Freddy Garcia traded to the White Sox
Difference is Yankees have the payroll flexibility (more like blank check) to sign available catchers/infielders.

We should have seen it coming....
Odd you should say that. Note the similarities in posting style (ideally the numerous "......") Post from HotSoxChick: DABearSoX:

ESPN 1000: Freddy Garcia traded to the White Sox
I don't believe this s***. Turn on 670 the score NOW. A reporter from the Seattle Intelligence believes this was a "bad trade" for Seattle. Thought Freddy Garcia could warrant better players, and is labeling the White Sox as the "winner." He's lying through his teeth.

ESPN 1000: Freddy Garcia traded to the White Sox
Not too happy about trading Reed, Olivo. EDIT by Showtime: Sox get: Garcia, Ben Davis and cash Mariners get: Olivo, Reed, and Michael Morse.

The official come eat your crow about Diaz thread
Here's what I posted in the game day thread: I'll "eat crow" before someone stuffs the comment in my face.

Sox will steal a game they've no business winning
Alright, so one half of the equation is solved. Our hitters have the capability of hitting Zambrano Now what about Diaz? He needs to keep us in this game.
-
Sox will steal a game they've no business winning
Lets be realistic here, shall we? For the White Sox to steal a win today, the following events must occur: 1. Carlos Zambrano (2.25 ERA; arguably the best starter of the Cubs thus far) must collapse. In 14 starts this season "Z" has only pitched one outing where he's given up 6+ runs. ONE! 2. Felix Diaz (11.42 ERA) must pitch superbly: 3 or less runs through 6 innings would be ideal. I'm sorry to sound pessimistic. It just appears very unlikely both of these scenarios will occur simultaneously.
-
A realistic view of where we may be
Top of the 6th, Minnesota leads 5-0. Santana pitching lights out: 5 IP, 8 K's, 3 hits. White Sox are likely to find themselves 3 GB. :puke *Cleveland/Colorado are tied at 8 in the 8th inning.

6/ 25 Game Thread vs. the Cubs
Let me guess why. Whenever he pitches similar to today (which is often), you break down his performace and notice he "only" threw two bad innings. Jon Garland fails to pitch consistent outings, work himself out of jams, or shut down the opposition after his team scores a run. His value is none above a #4 starter.
-
Mike Jackson
9th inning: Jackson deflated our team when he served up the solo jack. Its becomes a trend when he continually gives up runs in his appearences. How many times have the Sox made a valiant comeback, need Jackson to hold the opposition, and he f***S UP? Release him.

Shoney on DL
If todays game hasn't become a MUST WIN before, Schlongs stinct on the DL just made it so. This alone changes the entire complexion of the series.

Aboz, in the past I've professed to this board of Ashlee Simpsons f***ability. They fail to listen. Just wait until Cheat finds this thread and compares her to the "Wicked Witch of the West." Dallas Morning News Opinion Article
KW is in tough s***. Do you forsake your future for immediate improvement? There's always the risk of falling short. If the players traded for are "rented," any prospects which develop on the other team are magnified; as the case with Hummel, Ring, Francisco. Suppose the only means of overshadowing those trades are World Series Championships.............. Because JR imposes a mid level payroll, and Sox are consistently mediocre (no "cant miss" draft pics), our management must learn to balance both sides. Sox possess enough money to sign adequate FA's, but don't have the means of obtaining superstar players. Its impertinent (for our future) to field a team consisting of FA's and home-grown players. When Magglio leaves next year, Reed/Borchard should be available to fill his spot. Only because thats the way it is with this team. What it comes down to is KW cannot continue foresaking our farm to fix problems which should have been addressed in the offseason.

Sox Needs
You'd seriously consider trading Magglio when the Sox are two games behind first in the American League Central? Not only would this trade mutate into a public relations disaster, but you're effectively removing the most consistent hitter in your lineup. I'd rather see Lee, Konerko, or Valentin shipped before Ordonez. I admit the logistics of a trade could work, but I severly doubt KW entertains offers for Maggs. Don't forget Jason, Maggs would likely become a rental player for whatever team he is traded to. White Sox wouldn't be recieving their "ace" pitcher, stud reliever, or quality LH bat that a Magglio trade should (IMO) warrant. Look at Beltran: Kansas Cities GM (name escaped me) is seeking a combination of catcher/3rd base prospects in return for a solid player.
