Schoe needs to shut Atlanta down from this point forward. All of Wrights pitches are working tonight, don't know if I expect Sox to score many runs. -

Exactly. Whole purpose of the run down is tagging out with the runner without having to throw the ball. -

Look, I don't have inside information, never intended to sound as if I did. When I created the post I was anticipating ranting from fans : f*** JR, SOX CAN'T SURVIVE WITHOUT MAGGS For anyone looking to bash JR, please understand our financial situation was merely my attempt to persuade those who continue to blame JR for his "cheapness" You've been here long enough where it seems some take a situation and put a extremely negative spin on it. My intentions were to eliminate this arguments (of not paying 14 million for Maggs) by suggesting within the range of a 60 million dollar payroll, signing him leaves us no flexible room to properly fill other holes. -
Ranting? When does Hawk ever rant? Lemme tell you somethin' Aboz: The distasteful......... media perception of the Chicago White Sox is soley the result of one person: JAY MARIOTTI. Whatever move Kenny Williams makes (or doesn't make) J.J. takes it within himself to bash our tremendous organization. So much is made out of "Not signing Bartolo colon" and "Maggs contract extentions" that two AWESOME players are flying under the radar: Juan Uribe and Scott Schoeneweis. No question about it.........another great acquisition by Kenny Williams. OH, have I told you lately about Ozzie ball; its an attitude you know? Don't forget about Jon Garland being given the opportunity to work himself out of big innings......I haven't yet set my quota of bringing that up five times in one broadcast. I love Ozzie ball. Ozzie ball..............................YES.

Disheartening Article: Magglios GAWN in 05.
Flash Tizzle replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agree. You understand this, but what about that "fan" sitting on their couch reading the newspaper? This person might not have the knowledge of the Sox we have on this site, and doesn't know the financial burdens this team faces. Instead, he/she looks at the Cowley column as evidence JR continues to pinch penneys and disrespect players. I've always professed its the "casual fan" marketing does a poor job of drawing to the Cell. The casual fan's might be the 5,000 or so who are on the fence whether or not to attend a ball game each night. This does not help the cause. Maybe I'm overanalyzing the situation and Sox fans will understand why we can't afford to sign Magglio long term....... -

For anyone looking to bash JR, please understand our financial situation. With a self imposed payroll of 60 Million, Sox can't afford to field a balanced team with 25% going to one man. Magglio's not an ace pitcher, or Barry Bonds; his asking price of 14 million for 5 years might settle in New York (were money is freely spent), but for the White Sox this sort of contract is crippling to our future I'm not looking forward to life without Magglio, but it remains evident that an outfield of Lee/Borchard/Reed is more cost effecient then Lee/Rowand/Magglio. Think of it this way: Magglio stays, most of the team is torn apart and KW will spend the offseason bargain hunting. Add up the numbers, and nearly 27 million will be off the books for 05 with Magglios departure. Consistent hitters, quality relief, #2,3 pitchers can all be acquired within that amount. Damn, I just hate this whole issue rising up right now. Why must Sox fans draw any more venom towards management in the light of a great season. Mariotti is going to have a f***ing field day. Hopefully no drillrod fans will take it within themselves to boo Magglio on his arrival from the DL. This guy has been great for us, and is a total class act. May he press onward towards an MVP year......after that he's no concern of mine. With or without Magglio I'm still a Sox fan and will continue to support this team. What a start to the day. -
This topic is no longer speculation or conjecture. I honestly don't appreciate this information breaking within the media this point in the season. Everything within the clubhouse (far as chemistry) is fine, then here comes Cowley reporting Magglio admits negotiations have broken. He is a reporter, and its his jobs to report news, but he appears to ignore the implications of this article. Just wish Magglio would of continued to deny the claims of New York media outlets, for atleast a couple more months. One thing's for sure: this revelation is sure to begin an uproar among Sox Nation. http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/ds.../pro/111sd1.htm

Shuf, it doesn't count as "dating" a model if you went out with some fat chick in fifth grade, who years later decided to pull her life together. She's forgotten about you by now.

Well, there's good news. On the 19th our fifth starter would pitch against the anemic offense of the Montreal Expos.

How the hell are the Sox going to make up this game if its called? If umpires can start a game at 10:00 (as they did last year) it can happen again. *f***. Just in, this game has been postponed. PUSSIES! -
If any of your scouts participate in Lifesaving classes, one of the requirements is for the individual to jump into the water with full apparel on; which includes pants, shirts, shoes. Purpose of the activity was to create a floatation device in the event you're ever in a situation where a lifevest isn't readily available. I remember an instructor told me never to take off clothing: first, because the clothing can provide your body with warmth, and secondly (as I pointed out) your shirt could be used as a lifevest. Several hours from Chicago there is a scout reservation called Owasippe, which is near Grand Rapids, Michigan. For many years our troop drove down for two weeks to entake in activities/merit badge clinics. As I inched closer to Eagle I began to lose interest in the camp, though I admit it was good times. If there is some sort of camp near Texas I would recommend accompanying your kids for a week (or two.)

Suprisingly, I live two towns over from Chicago Ridge and NEVER heard of this incident until now. Poor kid. If he ever recovers from this he'll likely suffer (if he hasnt' already) iirreparable brain damage.

1. Albert Pujols 2. Ben Sheets 3. Jason Schmidt

How convenient. I'm looking forward to the impending injury report (excuse) which will sideline him the entire season.
-
Doesn't that defy the basic idea of supply and demand? In the upcoming weeks, with the game fast approaching and people looking to attend the game, I wouldn't believe a scalper will lower their prices. Only way you'll be able to buy a cheap Cub/Sox ticket (regardless of it being a single) is if the game has already begun.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...yson&id=1818887 Look at the date of this article: May 26. The breaking of contract negotiations is based on the column posted in Newsday several weeks ago, which Magglio said was false. Although it wouldn't suprise me that Magglio is lying, I would find it odd how not ONE reporter in Chicago knew about the "broken negotiations." Every article created on this topic used Newsday as a reference; no other reporter has validated the claims of the New York paper.

Jeckle, in no way did the umpires decide this game. There were two circumstances which did go against us. Coincidentally, both were made by the third base umpire: 1. Third inning: The grounder which Crede touched foul, but was called fair. Thankfully it didn't lead to any runs. 2. Fourth inning: With 2 outs, Miguel Olivo fires a snap throw into third. From all camera angles it appeared the runner (whoever it was) was tagged out. Hawk commented "I have no idea how he's safe." Every game has its share of bad officiating. Far as today, don't look much beyond the Sox for the reason this game was lost. Terrible pitching, lack of cluth hitting (outside of the ninth), and lack of fundementals (fourth inning from hell) decided our fate.
