Who would replace him? That leaves you with Kopech, Cease and Lynn. If they are contending (which they should be), I can't see them trading him. The optics would be horrible and it leaves a big hole in the rotation. The Rays can pull something like that off. I don't think the Sox can.

I think Ball's 3pt shooting is definitely real. He shot 38% on 8.3 3PA per game. That's a good percentage on high volume. They also weren't all just catch and shoot opportunities. He can hit those off the dribble.
