So we traded for a pitcher who is worth -1.0 bWAR. He was worth -0.7bWAR when we traded for him. He was one of the worst pitchers in the league when we traded for him and he continues to be one of the worst. He is 33 years old. He is under contract for $24 million next session. The guy we traded isn't a blue chip prospect, but he's on fire, leads the minors in OPS and appears to have a legit bat. Minus Sir Anthony's contract, we owe him $14m next season. That is literally 15% of our current payroll. We have a notoriously cheap owner. That's the worst part of the trade. But somehow you can't see how that was a bad trade. I feel like you're trolling at this point with the senseless positivity.

We've got 4-6 guys in Kannapolis who could potentially lead the entire minors leagues in OPS? If so, Getz is a miracle worker. Castillo was worth -0.7 WAR when we got him. He was awful and he looks completely done. Not only did we give up a guy who was absolutely mashing, but we are on the hook for Castillo next season (minus Dominguez of course). I don't understand the mental gymnastics you are performing to defend this terrible trade. It's ok to admit Getz screwed the pooch.

Javier Mogollon is a guy I've slept on. He's 20 years old in A+. Had a big game today. 3-6 with a HR. Through 27 games he is hitting .283, .410, .462. 30% strikeout rate though.

It's easy to look so good they're doing and be angry. But Getz has a plan. He thinks he can unlock their potential. Getz has earned the benefit of the doubt. We need to let him cook.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'd be hugely disappointed with that. Especially considering all the guys they passed up.

Hagen Smith proving me wrong. He's been great out of the pen. At least we know if he can't become a starter, he can be valuable out of the pen. What happened to his velocity though? He supposedly could touch 100 in college.

Which again brings up my question - why did so many insiders like Josh and James Fox praise this trade when Castillo had been horrendous and looked completely washed? It was obvious. Then you factor in the money next year... I feel like the insiders use kids gloves on Getz. They would rip into Hahn for this s%*#.
