No Schriff tonight? Looks like I'm muting the broadcast.

8/25 White Sox vs Rangers: Kay vs DeGrom 6:40 PM
Would he accept splitting time with Vargas at 1st/DH I wonder? And we don't know if Vargas will accept a move to 1st. Would have to give him occasional time at 3rd.

DeGrom's breaking stuff is still pretty nasty. He's just missing with it.

I only saw that double. That's why I like the idea of moving Vargas to 1st and having Bonemer at 3rdd next season. Improves the defense. Eventually have Colson at 3rd, Roch at SS, Meidroth at 2nd, Vargas at 1st. That's gold glove caliber players at 3rd, SS and 2B. Maybe Vargas is GG caliber at 1st. That's one hell of an infield.

Does Vargas make that play at first if he is there instead of Mune?

Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? (8/25/2026 poll)
I'd be slightly angry because Getz made the team worse at the deadline. He went for players that are under control vs rentals who are good. The disastrous deadline would make it a harder pill to swallow.

Montgomery's struggles...
Just like you "really hated" making fun of Benetti, but you did it anyway. Pure trash.

That's not why we call you crazy

I figured they may call up Thorpe to give the starters an extra day of rest. Guess not.

Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? (8/25/2026 poll)
Not gonna lie, I'm feeling a little nervous with how dogshit out rotation is. Cleveland improved at the deadline and we somehow got worse. Cleveland has won 5 of 6 getting to play the best of the best; SF, COL, LAA. Only 2.5 games up now and Cleveland still has 2 more with LAA then play KC at home. Their deadline acquisitions are helping them. It would be a real gut punch to miss the playoffs after leading the division all season and actively making the team worse at the trade deadline.

Nobody believes that 😂

I decided to check out the White Sox subreddit. People that are critical about the team over there get attacked by a swath of posters calling them "doomers" 😂

Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?
He's below average according to statcast. The Sox know Bonemer's defensive ability better than anybody. I'd imagine if he is passable at SS, he'll be a decent 3B. Where else could they play Bonemer when he is ready? They could really use a good right-handed bat, and he looks like he'll mash. I guess they could DH him if they really want. Seems like a waste though. The only problem I can envision is Vargas not wanting to move off 3B. Hopefully he doesn't make a scene about it.

Sox acquire Brenton Doyle - trade Adams and Carlos Vielma (SS)
It's trades like these that make me question whether Getz is actually a good GM. It was an awful, questionable trade and everybody saw that from the start (well, except for all the White Sox insiders "shockingly"). Doyle was one of the worst hitter in the league while playing in Coors. He's always been bad outside of Coors. What exactly was the motivation for acquiring him? We really wanted a no-bat defensive outfield that badly?

Do you think Schriff will be back next season?
Randazzo seems like a no brainer if he wants to come back to Chicago. Amin is busy with the Bulls and national gigs. Does he have enough time to call the Sox too? Whoops, quoted an old post.

Do you think Schriff will be back next season?
I'm not a Schriff guy, but this is true. Dan (and I think Holmes) were unbelievably butthurt about Benetti leaving and Schriff replacing him. Dan still has a personal vendetta against Schriffen because of it. Pretty ridiculous to be that upset just because he replaced Jason.

Hawk called into 670 to rip into Boers and Bernstein. Classic. I miss this type of stuff.

Yeah, 670 is a complete dump now a days.

Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?
I feel like recent draftees are always worn out the year they get drafted and don't perform too well. I think there's a chance he is up next year, but I have no issue waiting longer. I'll assume he isn't up next season. It makes most sense to put Bonemer at 3rd and let Vargas and Mune split time at 1st/DH, assuming Vargas doesn't get pissed about it. Vargas is at -4 OAA at 3rd base. I'd imagine Bonemer would be better than him. Call Bonemer up after we get the extra year of control.

Roch Cholowsky Video / Media
Roch's defense looks so damn good. He already looks like a gold glover based on the highlights. Can't wait for him to be patrolling SS.

Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?
Do you think Antonacci has been a waste in left field? You gotta find a place for a dude like this to play. The infield is pretty much cemented for the near future. If they don't try him in the OF, then they have to trade an infielder or trade Bonemer. I really don't want to trade Bonemer. I think he could put up 40 HRs as an infielder. That's nasty. If they do move him, we're getting a stud pitching prospect back. I also don't hate the idea of trading Colson if you can get a great return. It's a really ballsy move. Somebody has to get moved in the infield. Colson has some injury concerns and contact/consistency concerns. Roch will be our SS when he's ready.

Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?
It's weird. It feels like Jerry's operating the team as if he isn't selling it to Ishbia (even though we know he is). We've seen reports that he's trying to stifle Ishbia's plans for the new stadium at Amtrak. He still has hopes that he can build a stadium on the other side of the river next to the future Fire stadium. I'm not sure he'll be operating with the mindset of "this will be Ishbia's problem in the future". I also think he'll still be a cheap ass who sticks to his guns about not signing pitchers to big contracts, which we desperately need.
