As a secondary mathematics education major, I thought I'd pipe in here. A major source for the paucity of truly competent teachers is that many universities allow students studying to be teachers to follow the easy route to graduation by providing them with very low expectations. The first thing we can do to improve the educational system here in this country is to improve the manner of which teachers are educated. I attend Illinois State University, which ranks #2 on the list of Teacher Education programs in the entire nation, and I even see flaws here. I have taken several teaching methods courses, and they are too basic! THIS is a problem!

Asking someone to cover the entire middle infield is quite a tall order. Asking that of a mere rookie is just harsh! Shouldn't Harris have SOMEONE covering either SS or 2B so he doesn't have the entire middle infield to play?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first time the Bulls have been over .500 since the Jordan era? I know it's VERY early, but it still looks damn good to see more W's than L's in their record. Anyway, I was gonna watch the game, but I fell asleep before it started and didn't wake up until after its completion. From what I read about it, the Bulls basically were in control in this one. But then again, Boston's not your world-class team. But a win is a win, and it gives Chicago someone else to beat up on, which is always good! I am so exicited over this NBA season, because, from the preseason, it looks like this team will be exciting to watch. It also will make the Chicago sports scene busier. It was getting rather boring sometimes having a few days without a Chicago team playing, when we had our Sox playing nearly every day for six months!

If they were, the Chicago Blackhawks would NOT have scored their go-ahead goal with just SEVEN SECONDS left in the game! The Blackhawks won 3-2 over Columbus, improving their record to 4-3-1-0. All this without Eric Daze or Theoren Fleury! Things are looking up for the westside hockey club.
